Chapter 7 - Childhood Friend

**Half an hour later**

"Liana, where is your work result? I want to see it," said the manager who gave Liana the task.

"Ma'am, this is the result of the research I just did," Liana said, handing over the file of her work.

"Hmm... Not bad. At least you understand a little about current trends," the manager stated.

"Of course, Ma'am, before coming here I had often researched highly sought-after fashion trends," Liana explained.

"That's good. It's already lunchtime. You can take a break now," Chelsea, the company manager, affirmed.

"All right, Ma'am, I'll go now," Liana excused herself and headed to the company cafeteria.

[Chelsea's Inner Monologue]

"This girl really understands fashion. I can't let her become a rival."

After a few minutes, an employee approached Chelsea and whispered something in her ear.

"Ma'am... the director has arrived. He's in his office now," the employee whispered.

"All right, I'll go see him immediately. You may leave," Chelsea ordered, and she immediately headed to the company director's office.

**Upon arriving there**

"You've finally come, David..." Chelsea said coquettishly as she entered and immediately put her arm around David's shoulder.

"You know I miss you so much. You must be too busy working at the hospital, aren't you? That's why you rarely visit this office," Chelsea added, still holding David's shoulder.

"Let go of my hand..." David ordered with a cold look on his face.

"Why... don't you like it?" she began to touch David's chest.

"Chelsea, please stop. Give me some space. I'm not free right now. I have a lot of work piled up here," David explained, pulling Chelsea's hand away to make her move back.

"You, have you forgotten that we are childhood friends who were arranged to be married since we were little? You shouldn't reject me like this," said Chelsea, who turned out to be David's childhood friend.

They were friends from childhood. Since David is also a doctor, he asked his friend to take over the affairs of his fashion company so that he could remain focused on working as a doctor at his family's hospital.

Actually, David's ambition was to become a doctor. But it cannot be denied that his parents also owned a fashion company that needed to be managed. So because of that, David inevitably had to do both: be a doctor and be the director of a famous fashion company.

"Leave me alone," David said.

"Fine... fine, I won't bother you anymore. But please don't be angry with me again, okay?" Chelsea pleaded.

"Go..." David said.

"I'll come back and bring you food. Wait for me, okay?" Chelsea said.

Meanwhile, in the company cafeteria. Liana, who had just received her meal, couldn't wait to eat it because she was truly hungry.

"Wow... The portion of the food here is quite large," Liana said, starting to eat her meal.

"Hey... May I sit here?" offered an employee who also worked there.

"Yes, you can, please," Liana replied.

"You're a new employee, aren't you? I saw you with Ms. Chelsea today. It looks like she's starting her surprise inspection again, for new employees like you."

"How did you know...!!!" Liana asked.

"Because she did the same thing to me on my first day of work," the young man explained.

"Is that so..." Liana said.

"By the way, I'm Bram. What's your name?" Bram asked, holding out his hand.

"I'm Liana, nice to meet you," Liana replied, shaking Bram's hand.

"Liana... What a beautiful name," Bram complimented, looking at Liana's beautiful face.

On the other side, David was still busy with his work. Maybe he would work overtime tonight because he had too much work piled up.

"How long are you going to keep working on that, David? How about we go on a date tonight to a restaurant?" Chelsea suggested.

"I don't have time for useless things like that," David replied, still busy with his laptop.

"Hmm... I don't know how else to persuade you. I've tried everything. But you keep ignoring me," Chelsea sighed, exhausted from being constantly ignored by David.

"In that case, I'll just go home. Please take care of your health because it's precious," Chelsea requested, immediately deciding to go home. Because she knew David would definitely work overtime again tonight.

After several hours passed, David finally decided to go home. He was truly very tired today.

"My body aches all over now, I wonder when all this will end," David said frustratedly while driving his car.

"I forgot, Rey asked me to buy him chocolate when I came back. Hopefully, there's still a minimarket open at 12 AM," David muttered, trying to find a minimarket that was still open.

Not far from his location, David finally found a 24-hour minimarket.

"Which chocolate does Rey want? If I don't get it, tomorrow he'll ask where his chocolate is," David said to himself, remembering Rey's behavior.

After deciding which chocolate to buy, he paid for it immediately and quickly left.

But as he walked out, he accidentally saw a familiar person sitting at the minimarket's dining table.

"Liana... Is that you?" David asked hesitantly.

"Oh... Mr. Doctor. You're here," Liana said, standing up from her seat.

"What are you doing here this late at night?" David asked, looking at the watch on his wrist.

"I... I often come here at this time to look for food, Sir," Liana explained.

"But it's already 12 AM, Liana. It's not good to be out at this hour," David advised.

"But..." She was cut off by David.

"Come on, I'll take you home now," David offered.

"Sir, I haven't finished my food. How about you wait a moment? I want to finish it first," Liana said, looking at her meal.

Seeing Liana who still looked hungry made David agree to wait a moment.

"All right, but wear this. The weather is very cold now," he said, placing his jacket on Liana's shoulders.

"Wha... what about you, Sir?" Liana interjected.

"Don't worry about me, I'm not cold. Hurry up and eat," David said.

Liana and David then sat facing each other at the dining table in front of the minimarket. While waiting for Liana to finish eating, David took the time to work on some things on his tablet.

**A few minutes later**

"Sir, I've finished my food," Liana said, looking at David who had fallen asleep while sitting.

"He must be exhausted to be able to fall asleep in this condition. But if you look closely, Mr. Doctor is quite handsome, isn't he? It's a real loss for the woman who left him," Liana said in a low voice.

A passing motorbike caused David to suddenly wake up from his sleep.

"Why are you looking at me?" David asked, having just recovered from his drowsiness.

"N-no, I just said I finished eating, Sir," Liana said, coming out of her daydream.

"Good. Come on, get in my car. I'll take you home," David ordered.

They finally went back together. Taking Liana home safely to her apartment made David feel much calmer to return to his own home.
