Cherreads

Chapter 5 - Sunday Full of Memories

"We've arrived... come on, sir, come on, Rey. This is the place to eat," Liana invited them when they reached the roadside stall that was her favorite place to eat.

"Let's go..." Rey cheered happily.

"This is the place to eat...?" David asked, double-checking.

"Yes, sir, what's wrong? You're not used to eating at a place like this, are you? I know, but trust me, all the food here is delicious," Liana explained, trying to reassure David.

"Yes, Dad, let's go inside first," Rey encouraged, holding David's hand.

Once inside the food stall, they immediately opened the menu book to place their order.

"Rey, what about this seafood fried rice? You'll surely like it. We'll order the not-spicy one, okay?" Liana said, offering a dish to Rey.

"Yes, Mom, how about we order everything?" Rey casually suggested, knowing his dad wouldn't mind if they ordered all the menus.

"Everything...! No, Rey, we shouldn't..." Liana was cut off as David interjected.

"We'll order everything, bring every menu item here," David interrupted.

"R-Right away, sir. The order will be prepared immediately," the stall attendant replied.

"B-But sir, I think that's too much. We won't be able to finish it," Liana explained.

"Are you sure about that? I won't guarantee it. Ever since we were in the car, I kept hearing the rumbling sound of someone's stomach starving," David said, continuing to stare at Liana.

"That's because it's still morning, so I haven't had breakfast yet," Liana explained, trying to suppress her embarrassment.

"Mom, your cheeks are starting to turn red now," Rey interjected.

"No, I... I'm not embarrassed," Liana replied, turning her gaze away.

Seeing Liana's and Rey's funny behavior made David feel a little happy today. Even though he knew he couldn't join them for breakfast this morning.

A few minutes passed, and the food they were waiting for finally arrived.

"Wow... That's a lot. How are we going to finish it now?" Liana exclaimed.

"Don't look at how much food there is, just start eating. You'll never realize you'll finish it all just like that," David said.

"In that case, let's start eating," Rey interjected.

Rey and Liana started devouring all the food on the table. Meanwhile, David could only watch them eat with an amused smile.

"Mr. Doctor... Why aren't you eating?" Liana asked with her mouth still chewing.

"No... I can't eat it. Just seeing you both eat is making me full. Rey has never eaten this heartily before," David said.

"Why can't you...? Are you not comfortable eating here...?" Liana asked, feeling bad for David.

"Mom... Dad can't eat seafood. Dad has an allergy," Rey said.

"What... An allergy? Why didn't you say so from the start? If I had known, I wouldn't have brought you to eat here," Liana said, now genuinely feeling terrible for David.

"No, Liana, don't feel bad. I'm actually happy here because I can see Rey eating heartily again," David explained to Liana.

"But still, I can't let you not eat while the two of us are enjoying our meal here. Wait a moment... I'll be right back," Liana said, immediately heading to the order counter.

"Dad, where is Mom going...?" Rey asked.

"Dad doesn't know either, Rey," David replied, confused about what Liana intended to do.

A few minutes passed, and a dish of food arrived. It turned out Liana had ordered plain fried rice for David, which she surely requested without any seafood in it.

"This is for you, sir. I ordered one without seafood," Liana explained, serving the food to David.

"You feel bad for me, don't you..." David asked, looking into Liana's eyes as she busied herself serving his food.

"Yes, of course. This shouldn't have happened. I should have asked you first before," Liana said with a feeling of guilt.

"It's okay, don't feel guilty. Besides, I was the one who invited you out to eat," David persuaded, trying to reassure Liana.

"Yes, Mom, don't feel guilty. Rey is sad now," Rey interjected.

"Alright... I won't feel guilty anymore," Liana said with a faint smile.

"In that case, come on, continue your meal. Who else is going to finish it but the two of you," David said.

Responding to David's words, Liana and Rey nodded in unison.

After they finished eating, the three of them finally decided to leave.

On the way

"Liana... what are you busy with now?" David asked.

"I just finished a job interview with a fashion company yesterday, and I finally got the decision this morning," Liana explained.

"Really? What was the decision??" David asked, not expecting Liana to be interested in the fashion world.

"I was accepted, and I can start working tomorrow. Actually, I didn't expect to pass yesterday, but I tried my best, and yes, now I succeeded," Liana explained with great excitement.

"Congratulations! I didn't expect you to be interested in entering the fashion world. What's the name of the company?" David asked.

"Star Light Fashion Company, the biggest fashion company in this city," Liana said.

{David's inner thoughts}

"That company... It belongs to my family. Liana managed to pass the very strict selection system to get in there. She's truly amazing," David expressed his admiration.

"I see, wow... Congratulations then," David said, becoming even more curious about Liana.

"Dad... Are we going home now?" Rey interjected.

"Yes... Where else would we go, Rey? Miss Liana surely wants to rest at her apartment," David stated.

"Is that so... Mom, can we have ice cream one last time before going home?" Rey asked with his cute face.

"Of course, Rey, why not... I still have some free time," Liana said, looking at the watch on her hand.

"Hooray... Come on, Dad, Mom has agreed," Rey said.

"You... I can't believe your behavior, Rey," David said, immediately driving his car towards the park.

Upon arriving at the park, David immediately bought the ice cream that Rey and Liana wanted.

"This is for you, Rey, chocolate flavor, your favorite, right?" David asked.

"Yes, Dad... Thank you," Rey said, accepting his ice cream.

"You're welcome... and this is for you, Miss, matcha flavor as requested," David said.

"Thank you, sir..." Liana said, taking the ice cream from David.

"Eat slowly, don't rush too much," David advised.

"Sir, the right way to enjoy ice cream is by eating it quickly. Otherwise, this ice cream could just melt," Liana explained.

"Is that so? It seems I have to learn again how to enjoy this life from you," David said.

"Yes, I will teach you next time," Liana explained.

The three of them finally enjoyed their ice cream together while breathing in the fresh air of the beautiful flower garden.
