THUD!
Ash sighed as he shut the door to the office.
He turned to his surroundings, trying with all his might to find the girl he had once seen, but found nothing.
Nothing but the usual figures of mindless moving teens, completely minding their business, some even taking a glance at his figure, perhaps to admire his looks.
He sighed again immediately, taking out the timetable he had folded within his pocket. He clicked his tongue, noting that nothing within its context would be in any way beneficial.
But the paper flew upward as Ash bumped into a figure who was obstructing his way.
"Yeah… yeah, it's cool," Ash said, bending down and picking up the papers. "You don't need to apologise…"
His sentence stopped dead in its tracks. Because right before him, standing there, overtaken by guilt, was a faceless person.
No eyes; no nose; nor any notable features.
"But…" Ash was hesitant, truly puzzled by what he was seeing. "But I heard you speak," he said. And the faceless boy sighed while clicking his tongue.
"Na, na… na, how are you doing that?" Ash's face lit with an unknown sense of interest. "I can literally hear you," he said, moving closer to him, almost touching his shoulder.
But the boy moved back, half tempted to run away. Yet he could see it in Ash's eyes; he could see the intense gaze of concentration. He knew that Ash was the type to chase right after him.
TAP!
Ash felt a hand tap the back of his shoulder, but his interest had grown too deep; he had completely and utterly succumbed to the depths of an unknown mystery.
But the toughness kept getting firmer, and its palm seemed to be getting stronger.
This was when Ash decided to turn his eyes back, perhaps to shoo away the culprit's hand.
But what he met was unexpected.
"Hey," said a short rainbow-haired girl, her figure almost uncomfortably close.
Ash's mind went completely blank, instantly chasing all earlier thoughts his mindless brain seemed to house before her arrival.
"Sup…" he was taken aback, for the first time conflicted on what he should say. He paused, observing her for a while.
"Oh, sorry." She seemed to notice that she was the one who was responsible for approaching him. "I'm Enid." She stroked her hair, extending out her other hand for a handshake.
Ash didn't hesitate; he shook it back.
"Yeah, I'm…" he tried to speak.
"Ash, I know," but she quickly shot in. "I mean, not like I know, but… like the entire school knows," she stumbled on her words. "I mean, you are like the topic… You have been the topic for the past 2 weeks."
She held up her hand, tapping its base in lurking embarrassment.
"Sorry about that," she said. This caused Ash to inwardly laugh.
He extended his arm once again, smiling wildly, revealing his perfect white teeth.
"Let's start from scratch," he said, as she shook back his hand. "I'm Ash," he grinned, noticing how she didn't let go. "Nice to meet you."
The girl smiled, her hand still interlocked with Ash's.
"Enid," she said, unashamed of her blushes.

{Minutes later}
"I'm sorry, man," Ajax spoke, looking at Eugen, who was standing on the far left."I just can't deal with bees." He waved him off dismissively, quickly making his way to the outside hall.
But then he instantly paused, as the snakes in his head grew louder from pending disbelief. Because walking there, not far from his sight, was Ash, accompanied by Enid.
Enid's expression was housing a smile, but Ajax could tell that it wasn't because of the pending compensation. He could clearly see the red at the ends of her cheeks and the way she almost jumped when Ash allowed her to touch his shoulder. It truly felt shattering.
Yet he still kept staring, heart holding hope, or in a way still holding onto it.

"I should be the one to show you around," Enid said, moving her hands behind her figure, completely fixing her eyes on Ash. "Xavier definitely didn't show you everything," she continued, turning her gaze and pointing at the school's wide roof.
Ash inwardly giggled, not believing what she was showing him.
"Are you telling me we can climb that?" he unknowingly licked his lips, too mesmerised by the sight. "Are we even allowed to do that…"
"Asha…" Ajax shot in, pulling Ash closer to his figure, covering Ash's body with an arm around his shoulder. He turned to Enid, who smiled back. "Where have you been, man? Haven't seen you all morning."
Ash frowned when he heard him.
"Bro, we literally slept in the same room," he laughed, moving from Ajax's arm, which was covering his shoulder. "What's with the memory loss? How many times do you want us to greet?"
Ajax forced a giggle, one that Ash seemed to notice; for he himself had done it way too many times.
"Don't you have a class?" Ajax said, and Ash widened his eyes in realisation.
He fixed his stance, preparing to leave. So, he turned to Enid, who was standing right next to him.
"It was nice meeting you… Em… Em." His voice seemed hesitant.
"It's Enid," Ajax immediately interjected, causing Ash to nod in acknowledgment.
"Yes… Yes, Enid," he quickly began his move, increasing his speed and walking at a running pace.
"Don't be late for your first class," Ajax laughed slightly, clearly relieved by Ash's actions. "I don't know how to say this, but… I'm pretty sure he doesn't remember your name," he said, speaking to Enid in whispers.
"You think?" She frowned as she answered, "He doesn't even remember the first letter," she pouted, clearly displeased.
"So… since we are free," Ajax turned to her, observing her eyes for a spark or hint of approval. "Wanna grab some ice cream?"
Enid raised her brows, clearly overly bewildered.
"It's 8:30 in the morning," she tried to bring him to his senses, "I haven't even had any breakfast."
"Ay… you know what they say," Ajax shrugged his shoulders, "Ice cream is always better when it's breakfast."
And she laughed, unashamed of her blush. Nodding, then smiling as he also smiled back.
Smiling because he might not have lost what was never his; what hadn't yet been taken.
