~~~ [START]
In an office, surrounded by overwhelming silence.
"You are a victim of unimaginable torture; experiments and more," the voice of a woman with pure white hair spoke to the child seated before her. "It is immensely difficult to tell your state of mind if you spend 80% of a therapy session quiet."
Ash didn't speak; he didn't reply or force a reaction. He just sat there, and perhaps for the first time since ever meeting him, he seemed too serious.
Time drained, seeping through the atmosphere like a leak.
"The only reason I allowed you to attend Nevermore in the first place…" Weems nearly stopped her words, but something within her whispered it was necessary, "the only reason was because Miss Frump agreed for you to attend therapy." She paused, analyzing him, searching for a reaction, but she still got nothing. "And I truly don't know what would happen if that agreement were to be broken." Ash still kept staring, eyes seeming distant. "And you, Asha Dravethar, are the one who is pulling the robe." She frowned at him, her eyes almost turning completely furious.
She leaned back, resting her head on the seat, eyes still lingering on his distant face.
"You may leave," she finally said, watching as he stood up slowly, her eyes completely following his slow, retreating footsteps.
But then he stopped, feet totally halted.
"Is that what she said my surname is?" he questioned, causing a frown to form on her lips.
"What?…" Her words almost stumbled. "That's… I don't know, but that's what was in your identification."
And his feet didn't wait; he didn't stay to question further.
THUD!
The door shut, blocking out the sound of his retreating footsteps, leaving a white-haired, middle-aged woman to wonder the intent of his question; leaving her to wonder why he would ask what he already knew, what she thought he was born with.
THUD!
The door suddenly blasted open as Ash sprinted in.
He dashed to his bed as the momentum propelled the door to swing shut.
Putting his arms under the mattress, below the base of the bed, he pulled out his suitcase, opened it, and immediately poured out most of his clothes.
He inserted his hands deeper, fingers searching within, in hopes of finding what he was searching for.
Then his fingers came to a halt, obstructed by a sphere-like object.
Ash immediately pulled it out, watching as its purple-colored shape lit brighter the longer he held on.
He placed it on the floor, opening his palms and holding onto its face.
A minute passed, or what seemed like more. Yet the square did nothing. It just lay there, still glowing.
"Fuck!" Ash spat, falling and sitting on the floor, slapping his head in disappointment. "Why aren't you even picking up?" He leaned. Resting his body on the bedside. "You didn't even tell me she was gonna be in the same school," he said, shaking his head. Hands now raised to his face, balanced by his bent knees, as their palms held his chin in support.
He turned his head backward, placing his eyes on the ceiling.
Then a smile suddenly crept up his lips, his mind thinking of a lurking idea.
He jolted up, moving on his knees toward his suitcase, which rested by his bedside.
He lifted it completely ignoring the scattered clothes, then quickly unzipped the side pockets, digging his hands deep within.
And as he withdrew them, a half-empty bottle of whisky followed.
A bright smile embraced his cheeks.
He stared at it, reading the words written on its plastic.
'Bruichladdich X4,' one of the strongest in existence.
He kept staring for a moment longer, his tongue almost remembering the taste.
But right when he was about to open it, right as his hand moved to twist the cap.
THUD!
The door suddenly swung open.
And in entered Xavier with his friends.
Ash changed his plans, turning and placing the bottle back in the place it was hidden, in less than an instant.
"What are you doing?" Ajax said from behind, raising a brow at Ash, who was kneeling on the floor, surrounded by scattered clothing.
"Um…" Ash laughed nervously, scratching the back of his head. "I was packing up."
Ajax shrugged his shoulders, shaking his head as he moved to the nearby fridge.
"So…" Ash fixed his clothes quickly, shoving them back in the bag. "Did you guys decide to go to the movies?"
Xavier giggled, and the three boys behind him exchanged glances filled with grins.
Xavier put his hands into the pockets of his jacket, pulling out a mini camera covered in brown tape.
"I recorded everything," he said, laughing with the rest of them. "I couldn't focus while recording, so we'll all have to watch it now."
"Yeah, that's probably because you were too scared of getting caught," one of the boys he came with shot in.
"Hehe, he was literally staring around like he was stealing something," another added, joining the laughs, completely devoid of any reasoning.
And Ash didn't know what to consider worse.
The fact that he couldn't drink his liquor, or that they didn't know that recording in a cinema was a full-fledged crime.
Something even he, who had never even been there, knew to his fullest.
