It was the morning of the 13th day of the second month of the year 2022. The beauty of the sunlight was blessing Bangkok, the sky clear and calm as the ocean's stillness. It was the first day at the University of Bangkok — my very first day as a student. I woke up very early, determined to arrive on campus before Max and Khai.
When I got there, I found them flirting with every girl while waiting for him. I went to join, and as I was standing, I saw someone I hadn't seen in three years. I couldn't believe my eyes; it was Kit with his two besties. I was about to raise my hand and say "Hi" when he stood up and left with his friends.
Soon after, we went to attend the freshers' meeting where all faculties would choose their representatives for the Star and Moon contest. As we were about to sit down, Kit and his besties walked in. My friends couldn't believe their eyes — they were seeing my long-lost Cinderella coming back to get his diamond shoe after disappearing for three years.
"Ai Kit!!" Max shouted, waving at him, but instead of waving back, Kit got pissed off and turned his back on him the moment he saw who was calling.
"Awww, what the hell is with him? I waved at him, and he turned his back on me."(Thwack!!)"Awww, Ai Khai! Why did you slap me on my head for? Don't you know slapping a person on the head only makes him dumber?" he asked, rubbing the back of his head.(He he he!)"How much dumber can you get when you're this dumb?" Khai said, laughing his head off."Awww, Ai Khai! Are you even my friend?" Max teased in a cheeky tone."The slap is for making things worse for your best friend when you know very well that Kit hates his guts right now," Khai said, annoyed."Enough! Enough! Would you two stop arguing now? The seniors are already here," I said, turning my focus to the seniors.
A while later, the seniors started introducing themselves one by one. As they were about to make an announcement, Ohm walked in. All the girls started screaming, making all the guys from every faculty jealous.
"Not fair! No one screamed when we walked in. How can they scream for such ugliness and not scream for such handsome guys like us? They've got to be really blind," Ohm spoke with full confidence.
"Okay! Okay! Okay! Let's all quiet down," Daisy said, trying to control the screaming.
"Awww, P'Daisy khup, don't act like you don't want to scream too," one of the girl juniors said, giving Daisy the 'I know you want to do it more than everyone else here' look.
"Ohho! You little bitch, dare sell me out. Okay! Enough about that. From all the screaming, I can tell you all know who this person is, but anyways let me introduce him. This is Ohm, a second-year medical student and our campus's Moon of 2021."(Screams)"Okay! Okay! Let's settle down now so we can finish up and head to our respective classes. But don't worry, you will get to see him every day since he'll be helping with the contest."
The meeting was over, and everyone excused themselves to their classes. It was lunchtime; Kit went to join his big brother for lunch.
"Ohhh Kit, you're here? I was about to call the police for a missing child," he said, giving him a cheeky smile."Ohhh Phi, I'm 19 — not a child anymore.""Ummm! I know, but to me you're still my baby brother."(Guhhkk!)"I feel like throwing up," he said with a face as if he was about to throw up."You little rascal... okay! I give in, you won this time. Let me introduce you before someone starts whining."
"Babe khrap, this is Kit, my baby brother. Ai Kit, this is my cute baby Pharm," he said, smiling like an idiot.
"Sawadeekrab Phi," he said, bowing to him."Sawadeekrab," Pharm replied.
"Ohhh Phi, you're cuter in person than in the pictures," he said, revealing a flirty smile.
[Awww! You little rascal, I called here to introduce you to my baby, not to flirt with him. Paws off! He's mine.] he said, pulling him close.
"Ohho! Khun New khrap, I was only stating facts. No need to be possessive and turn purple with jealousy.""He can't help it. I mean, after all, my brother is overflowing with cuteness," she said, full of confidence.
"Awww! Lay, when did you get here? Wait! Did you just say Phi Pharm is your brother?" he asked, confused.
"That's right. Can't you see we look alike?" she said, cupping her chin with both hands, tilting her head slightly, a soft smile playing at the corners of her lips as she tried to look as cute as ever.
"Ptui! Bitch, stop flirting with yourself and look at yourself in the mirror," she said, face scrunched in distaste, nose wrinkled as if smelling something foul.
"Awww! Som, how can you say that to your cute bestie? Are you even my friend?"
(Ding! ding! ding! ding!)Kit's phone received multiple message notifications. He reached into his pocket to check who sent the messages. They were from unknown contacts:
"Ai'Lay""Krub Phi""Where did you get the money to buy all those snacks? Because when you left this morning you complained about being broke."
And just like that, he sold her out.
"Ammm! The snacks, Phi?""Krub.""Well, you see about the snacks… they're from the seniors from our faculty, right Som?" she said, poking Som secretly to hint.
"Ummm! That's right, we got them from the seniors," she said, voice shaky.
"Ai'Lay! Ai'Som!""Krub!""Did you exchange my contact line for snacks again?""NO! These are really from the seniors," she said in a squinched tone."Ai'Lay!!" he said angrily.
"Awww! Wit! Sawasdee krub.""Ohho! Phi, you serious now? You're still going to use that same old trick with me? It's never going to work."
"Sawasdee krub Phi."
He immediately turned around to see if it was really Wit, only to make eye contact with him. Wit's heart was full of joy — finally, after three years of waiting, he was able to meet him again. He was able to look into his eyes, warm, earthy brown, deep and comforting, like the rich soil of the forest floor.
"Awww! If you're going to keep staring at each other like that, you might as well kiss."
"Ohho! Phi, don't tease me like that. How can a hot, handsome guy like me be interested in a guy with a baby face like him?" I said, boasting confidently.
"Krub! Phi, how can someone worthless like him be worthy of my cute baby's lips?" she said, angered by his words.
"Ai'Som!" Max said angrily.
"What?! You wanna fight? Bring it on, I've been fighting boys like you since middle school," she said, climbing chairs to make her way to him.
"Awww! Ohm, how come you're here?" New said, looking around to see if he was alone.
"How else would I see my girlfriend fight if I didn't come?" he said, smirking.
"Your girlfriend?!"
