Chapter 8 - Mission for the KM spies

"Whenever we asked you to come with us to a party, you would refuse, but I guess we can't compare to your wife. Now that you fixed your relationship with Kit, you don't care about us anymore," he said, pouting.

"You finally got it. I thought it would take long for you to understand," he said, adding salt to the wounds.

"Aww Phi! There is no need to add salt to the wounds. I thought you would be on our side, but I guess we can't trust people with wives," he said, shaking his head.

"Why don't you try to steal his heart? Maybe you might compare with his wife?" he said, teasing him.

"That is not a bad idea. It could actually work. Wit buddy, how about it? Want me to be your wife? But I've got to tell you, I'm very expensive," he said, making us burst into tears.

"I can't believe he really considered it," Khai said as he burst into laughter.

Before we knew it, it was already the afternoon, and we had to go for our afternoon class.

"I wish the 2 p.m. class was also canceled. My body is still tired," he complained as he walked out of the bathroom, buttoning his shirt.

"All you do is complain. Hurry up and finish. P'New and I have been waiting for you and Max for ages. If we get late for class, I'm going to tell Phakpian to stop introducing you to girls. We'll see if you still take ages to get ready for class as if you are girls. Even girls are quicker than you two," I said, throwing the pillow at him and then pointing a finger at him.

"Forget about those two, you know they can never change. About Kit—how are you planning to win him over?" he asked as he wrapped his arm around my shoulder.

"I don't have a plan yet, but I'll let you know when I need your help. Chasing him won't be easy, but I'm down for the ride," I said confidently.

Max was done; we then left for the campus. By the time we got there, the class was about to start, but Kit wasn't there yet.

P'New was worried that he might have overslept, but when he saw Lay and Som, he knew Kit was somewhere around campus. He went to them and asked where Kit was.

"He went to the men's room a while ago. I'm sure he's on his way back," Lay replied, looking at the door to see if he had returned.

P'New went to the toilet to check if he was alright because whenever he got drunk, he would get sick the following day.

"Ohhh! Phi, there's no need for you to be so worried. I was just feeling a bit overwhelmed, so I came here to wash my face," he said, trying to assure him that he was okay.

He walked him to class, then left. Kit thought he had really left, but he was actually waiting for his class to finish. As soon as he saw Kit walk out of the class, he walked over to him and offered to take him home.

"Phi, are you sure everything is okay? Or did you fight with P'Pharm, so now you want me to plead for you?" he asked, pointing a finger at him as he questioned him.

"Oi~~~~ Stop with your nonsense. Let's go, Pharm is waiting at the cafeteria for us," he said, dragging him away.

They all went to have lunch together, but Kit was still worried about P'New.

On the other hand, Max and Khai were starting to get suspicious as to why P'New waited for Kit until the lesson was over. They thought something was fishy, but I thought they were over-exaggerating. They were siblings, so it's normal for him to wait for Kit—but they thought that wasn't the case.

"There's something weird going on between those two. We have to find out what it is and stop it. We can't have our poor bestie's heart broken," Khai whispered to Max.

They planned to follow Kit everywhere he went until they found out whatever secret he had with P'New.

Lunchtime was over, and they stood up, about to leave, when I asked where they were going.

"We're going on a double date. You don't have to come with us—not after what happened last time. We are not taking you with us," Max said, crossing his arms.

"Okay, fine, then enjoy it," I said as I stood up and left.

As I was leaving, I came across some girls from class. They asked me to take pictures of P'Pharm and P'New together. In return, they would help me with chasing Kit.

When I was about to ask them how they knew I liked Kit, my phone suddenly rang. It was a call from home—they told me to get back home as soon as possible.

When I arrived at the house, I found Grandma waiting for me. As soon as I saw her, I jammed, 'cause I knew I was in trouble. Before I knew it, she was dragging me by the ear to the lounge.

"Grandma, how come you're here?" I asked, trying to coax her.

"Oh! Do I need to tell you when I come to visit my children and grandchildren? I remember your grandpa died six years ago, and I haven't remarried," she said, giving me a side-eye.

"Grandma, you know that's not what I meant. If you come like this every time, you won't be able to meet your grandson-in-law," I said, trying to butter her up.
