The reason that Ghost could freely fight, was that no one was around anymore.
Everyone that was here was either dead or they escaped.
Right when the closest black frenzy ape noticed enemies approaching, an arrow flew straight into it's eye.
Grishna's arrow flew so fast that it pierced the ape's brain.
With her stats and skills she had no problem killing them in one shot.
The next second, Ghost appeared right next to a metal plate boar and stabbed it's neck.
He quickly followed up with a stab into it's eyes and then slit the boar's throat all the way through.
Ghost didn't even need to use any of his active skills. His stats simply overpowered his enemies.
Meanwhile Lucas and Krasbert killed every blood rabbit and frenzy fox in sight.
Sometimes they managed to dodge and tried to counterattack, but Krasbert and Lucas had the superior stats.
Lucas and his avatars kept massacring every monster in sight.

15 minutes later.
The monsters that were near the gate all lied on the ground.
Of course those weren't all the monsters that came out of the gate, since Lucas arrived late.
The monsters were probably scattered all around the city. The other awakened would be fighting them.
'With Ghost at my side, E-rank gates won't be a problem.'
'I wonder what the D-rank gate is gonna be like.'
Lucas then checked his stats.
'Yes! Grishna is level 10.'
'All her stats increased by two and so did my avatar points.'
'I can finally evolve my first avatar!'
Lucas unsummoned his avatars and stored every corpse he could in his inventory.
'There is no need to stick around, I'm gonna head home.'
On his way home, Lucas was proud of himself for thinking ahead before, when he told Ghost to destroy any cameras that could record him.
Lucas wanted to keep Ghost hidden at all costs. What he did today was quite risky and he didn't want to do it again.

As soon as Lucas got home, he summoned Grishna.
"Are you ready to evolve?"
"Yes master, I am excited!"
Lucas noticed that Krasbert and Grishna had started forming their own personalities, especially Grishna.
The same couldn't be said for Ghost. He was way too quite to notice anything.
Lucas clicked on the evolve tab.
Do you wish to evolve this Avatar to D-Rank?
"Yes."
Grishna's body started to glow in a light blue light.
He could tell that it was painful for her, but she didn't scream.
After about a minute, it was over.

"I feel amazing master! This is incredible, to think someone can grow this much so fast."
Grishna looked the same from the outside, but Lucas could tell that her energy was different.
'An evolved avatar really is stronger than a summoned one of the same rank.'
'She has less skills though, but her stats make more than up for it.'
Lucas turned on the news to check on the current situation.
"It was just reported that most monsters that came out of the new gates were killed."
"Our sources have not told us who is responsible for killing so many monsters, but I believe I can speak for everyone when I say, we are all grateful."
"I couldn't agree more my friend! Now that the E-rank gates have been taken care off, there just remains the D-rank gate."
"What will the government do about that one?"
"I heard that they plan on entering tomorrow morning with as many awakend as possible."
"So if you are an awakened and are watching this, please report to the military near that gate."
Lucas had a sinister smile on his face.
'Oh, I will. I will be there to take every experience point for myself.'
'Once I show them my avatars and their stats, I hope that they will let me move alone inside the gate.'
'I should call Captain Bacher to find out if he's going.'
Lucas took out his phone and called him.
"Hello?"
"Hey it's me, Lucas."
"Oh hey Lucas, why are you calling?"
"Are you gonna go to the gate tomorrow?"
"Oh yeah, we will. Are you going as well?"
"Yes I am. I was hoping that you could recommend that I move alone inside the gate, since I will be faster and more efficient that way."
"No problem. I'm going to be second in charge tomorrow. Commander Schmid is kind of by the books, but he listens to me."
"Great, thank you."
"Sure thing. See you tomorrow then."
"Yes, bye."
Lucas was really happy right now.
He didn't know what to expect inside the gate, but he knew that he could gain a lot of experience.
At night, Lucas and Grishna went to bed, while Ghost was ordered to covertly enter the D-rank gate to investigate.
Thanks to his skills, that wouldn't be a problem.
'I wonder what kind if report I will get from him tomorrow morning.'

When Lucas stood up, Ghost was waiting in the living room.
He then gave his report.
"When I entered the gate I was in a small forest in front of a big cave."
"I entered the gate and avoided any traps that were lying on the ground."
"The inside of the cave was very elaborate and massive with countless paths."
"It took me hours to investigate the whole cave, but I succeeded without being detected."
"Alright, good job. Tell me what you found."
"Yes master. In total there are 216 E-rank kobolds, 48 D-rank kobolds and 1 C-rank kobold. The last one appears to be the leader."
"Thanks. You did an amazing job, Ghost. Is there something that you want?"
"Being of service to you is enough, master."
"Well if you say so."
'This gate is a lot tougher than I expected."
