INT. C.H.R.U.C.H BUILDING(THEA'S OFFICE) - AFTERNOON. NOVEMBER 1ST, 2025, 4:30 P.M
Thea's office, to Gabriel's shock, was very tidy, and spacious. Coming from the entrance as you directly walk into the office, there were two couches across from each other to his immediate right. To his left, there seemed to be some kind of pool or hot tub. Which in itself seems insane to Gabriel, that someone would keep a hot tub inside their office. Straight ahead was a desk with file cabinets lining the walls behind it. There were various things and posters in the room as well. Overall, Gabriel had to admit that he was mildly jealous of her office. His office wasn't even an office. It was a small desk in a vast room filled with other officers as well.
"Seriously, Rook, are you just going to stand there in the doorway, or are you going to come enjoy these comfy couches?", Blake asked, pointing to the other side of the couch he was sitting on.
Gabriel glanced at Blake as he was sitting on the couch. The couch had a red and black pattern. Overall, it looked comfy. Letting the door shut behind him, Gabriel swiftly made his way to the opposite of Blake. Sitting down, he had to admit the couch was pretty comfortable. It was hard to describe the feeling. It was as if he were floating. Weird, but it was the best analogy he had to try to explain it. Leaning back, he could almost relax if they weren't about to talk about something so serious.
"Listen, Rook, I'm not going to say that we should try to steal one of the couches, but if you're up for it I would go along with your lead," Blake offered, his tone relaxed.
Gabriel didn't reply, instead looked up at the shadow that appeared above him. Hovering over them was Thea with an extensive file in her hand. "You could try Al, but remember you have never beaten me in a fight."
Blake just offered up a groan, but didn't say anything else. With how good of a fighter Blake was, Gabriel was shocked to hear he never beat Thea in a fight. Actually, now that he thinks about it makes sense he never beat her in a fight. Especially if Gabriel is right about her having some type of ability to manipulate time, then it would probably be nearly impossible to deal with in a fight. Though as he studied her muscles, Gabriel also bet she wasn't a slouch herself in the fighting area.
"Oh, you got to stop looking at me so intensely, you make an old gal feel so pretty.", Thea joked with a smile on her face.
Gabriel quickly averted his eyes, looking at the table in front of them instead of her. "Sorry, I wasn't trying to stare." Though he was confused at the old comment since she looked younger than him.
"Alas, with a beauty like mine, what can you do?" she replied.
"Just think what Nadia would say if she saw you looking at another woman. For shame, Rook, for shame.", Blake chuckled.
Gabriel rubbed his face in annoyance. "We're not even together!", he groaned. Blake and Thea laughed as he mumbled to himself.
"Alrighty, enough playing around I think it's time to get down to business." Thea stated, her shadow moving from above Gabriel. Gabriel watched as Thea sat on the couch across from him, tossing the file on the table. "This should hold everything relevant to Andrew's murder."
Gabriel allowed Blake to take first look at the file, personally not wanting to see another murder scene like that again. Leaning back on the couch, his eyes closed deep in thought. One of the major issues Gabriel has right now is the lack of suspects. I mean, they have some guy named Stolas, then maybe the kid who disappeared that Blake knew named Abel. Besides that, they really have nothing. The first suspect, or rather demon, disappeared after him, and Blake got knocked out in the fight.
The second demon is Evan, who turned to ashes, so they weren't able to bring him into police custody. Gabriel remembers that Blake talked about some ritual, and that those demons were a part of the seven deadly sins. Which, if Gabriel recalled, came from the information there was given from the church.
"I noticed that you tend to zone out often", commented Thea. To Gabriel's dismay, when he opened his eyes he saw Thea staring directly at him. "You're different from what I was expecting."
"What were you expecting?"
Thea narrowed her eyes and crossed her arms while leaning back on the couch. "I was expecting more anger, maybe even hatred towards me or the organization."
Gabriel raised one eyebrow, his lips pursed together, confusion prominent on his face. "I never met you before today. Nor have I heard of your organization prior to Thursday."
"How have you…", Thea trailed off, turning her gaze to Blake. "Did you not tell him anything?"
"Tell me what?" Gabriel asked, sitting up straight looking quizzically at Thea.
Thea ignored his gaze as she had her attention on Blake. "Al, why doesn't he know about where he was from?"
A loud slam echoed around the room, the sudden nose making Gabriel jump. Gabriel turned his eyes towards Blake, who was panting on the other side of the couch. His hand laying flat on the table, his face flushed with anger. "You're one of the reasons why he doesn't know anything, Thea, or did you forget about that part", Blake growled, his voice lowering.
"After all these years, you still put the blame on me and not Chloe?"
"You know damn well she was tricked, and was innocent just like those kids.", Blake refuted.
Thea let out a harsh chuckle. "Innocent? Seriously, she brought a demon spawn into the world!"
"He was an innocent child that knew nothing about his parentage besides what his adopted father had taught him!" Blake shot back.
"And look what happened to his 'adoptive' father."
Gabriel's head bounced back between Blake and Thea as they argued. Compared to Thea's more calm demeanor, Blake looked angry, his face bright red at this point. "I don't know who um Chole, or this child was. I'm interested in knowing what any of this has to do with me?" Gabriel decided to speak up.
Thea ripped her gaze away from Blake as she studied Gabriel's face. Her expression softened into a more saddened look. "It doesn't matter, I suppose it is something from the past, a fleeting thought."
"I know I'm the newest one in this secret world or what have you. I would appreciate it if you guys were upfront with the truth." Admitted Gabriel, his gaze briefly going to Blake before looking back at Thea. His eyes narrowed, his lips pursed. "Am I this so-called spawn of a demon you're talking about?"
Thea let out a deep sigh, the small she has kept besides when she teared up at Andrew's death dropping. "No, you're not the demon spawn I'm talking about, and I think it's best we switch to the topic at hand rather than dwell on the past."
"I think that's the smartest thing you've said all day, Thea.", agreed Blake.
The chatter flowed around Gabriel like mere background noise as he sat there. He opened his mouth wanting to speak but decided against it, that it would be better to not force a nonissue. Deep down, he understands he's missing something, maybe his parents were close to this Chloe person, yet that is a conversation that he'll have to have with them. Another person Gabriel filed away in his thoughts.
So far, the names Chole, Abel Corson, and Stolas have appeared outside the victims list, which could have some standing on the case. Stolas aside, if Chloe and Abel may have something more important pertaining to the case that might be actually important. Gabriel feels like he'll have to look deeper into Blake's past to get the answers if Nadia doesn't turn up something.
Gabriel let out a sigh as he turned back into the conversation Blake and Thea were having. "So the DNA test you guys ran on the pieces of hair turned up nothing, I'm guessing?"Blake inquired, holding up a sheet of paper.
"That's right," Thea nodded her hair in agreement. "Yeah the hair left behind in the sink ran back like nothing. One of the major reasons why we believe a demon killed him."
"I assume all the blood then came back as Andy's?"
"Exactly", Agreed Thea. Blake let out a small hum as he went back looking through the files.
Gabriel after hearing about DNA not being found decided to speak up about the thought he had on his mind. "So do all creatures not have DNA, or did you just jump to a conclusion because of some wrongdoings Andrew had done in the past?"
Thea started tapping her finger on her thigh, her eyes going towards the ceiling. There was a slight pause before she finally spoke up. "Unless the demon takes over a human host, monsters don't have DNA that normal means can track."
"I see, so are there other ways to trace these creatures similar to DNA?"
"Actually there is, while we don't have all the ways since this is one of the smaller locations for Church. In other locations, there are labs that work similarly to how a police precinct DNA test would work.", Thea explained, her gaze now back on Gabriel. "We do have magic users who specialize in tracking magic though when we used to track the hair it just led to a graveyard."
Blake looked up from viewing the file as his eyes narrowed. "That wasn't mentioned in the reports at all."
"Hmm odd, can you hand me the file please?"Thea asked, her hand stretched out. Blake quickly leaned forward and handed it to her. Thea took a moment and quickly went through the folder, frowning as she continued looking through it. Eventually, she angrily threw the folder on the table. "That file, I was the one who did all the paperwork for it. The information on it has changed, or been taken out. Such as the mention of the man he met the day before, or the death threats he was receiving before."
Gabriel leaned forward, putting his elbows on his knees. "This is going back to what I was asking earlier: if he had any wrongdoings?
"Raising to a position as high up as Andrew did, you end up stepping on a few toes. Though Blake can agree when I say Andrew was the best of us," responded Thea.
Blake nodded his head in agreement with her statements. "Andrew loved donating and charity. Always wanting to help people less fortunate than others. You haven't seen the entire building yet, but there are plenty of different races that work here because of his interference."
Gabriel raised his eyebrow at the different races aspect but decided not to ask about it. Believing it would be better to hear what else the two had to say. "Andrew was one of the rare men who had my respect.", Thea added. "It's why we found it weird that some man accosted him outside of his house, his wife reported to us."
"Did you get a description of the man?"Blake asked, his knee bouncing up and down in anticipation.
Thea shook her head, "Besides the long hair, the sound of his voice, the man had everything covered with a long red cloak.
Gabriel jumped to his feet in excitement, "People with red cloaks have been attacking us over the past week."
Thea went to open up her mouth when the door suddenly blew off its hinges, landing on the ground a few feet away from the door on fire. Gabriel turned at the noise and saw Gibby angrily marching into the room looking. Bandages could be seen through the rips in his clothing, though his face looked fine besides his hair being out of place. Gibby glanced around the room before seeing the group sitting on the couches quickly marching towards them. "Shit", Thea whispered loud enough for them to hear.
