INT. C.H.R.U.C.H BUILDING(BASEMENT) - AFTERNOON. NOVEMBER 1ST, 2025, 6:15 P.M
"Psst, Hey!", a feminine voice whispered coming from the front of Gabriel's face. Gabriel's back and head was pounding. The constant prodding of his cheek forced him to open up his eyes, the dim light from above illuminating enough for him to see. "Come on already, can you hurry and wake up.", the feminine voice said again.
Gabriel's vision started to focus, he saw Grace above him leaning down to look at his face. "Did someone get the number to the train that hit me?", he joked slowly, sitting up pounding slowly fading.
Grace let out a small chuckle, "Less train, and more of an idiot deciding to use a huge attack inside an enclosed space."
Gabriel's shoulders slumped, hating to admit that she was right. "Yeah, not my brightest idea."
"If it helps your ego at all, the attack hurt me a tad!"]
"How much is a tad?"
"Hmm, around two out of ten", She answered earnestly.
Gabriel's shoulder sagged even lower, his head slumped as he heard the news. "I tried to use all my strength when I did that attack.", he moaned.
Grace shrugged in response. "I'm a lot stronger than the other two you fought, probably second in power out of the seven."
"What do you mean, out of the seven?"Gabriel perked at hearing that little tidbit.
Grace leaned down further and bopped Gabriel on the nose. "Ever the detective, always looking for answers.
"If you love your work, it becomes more than just a job."
Grace raised an eyebrow at that. "That is a weird response to my statement."
"Truthfully, I don't know how else to respond", Gabriel admitted as he got to his feet, stumbling a little. Thankfully, Echo grabbed his shoulder, helping to steady him. Gabriel looked at Echo in thanks for the help.
Grace stepped closer to Gabriel, studying the floating humanoid bird in front of her. "What is this thing? I can sense an immense amount of energy coming from it. Yet, for some reason, it seems to be holding it all back."
"It's one of my creations I made with my powers, though unlike the other things I make out of light, this one hasn't faded for some odd reason.", Gabriel replied, a white ball of light floating around him as he healed any lingering injuries.
Grace's head snapped from Echo to Gabriel in shock. "You made this thing?"
"Before I answer that, how about you answer my question instead?", Gabriel shot back, looking her in the eye. "What dud you mean by the seven, seven what?"
Grace let out a groan of annoyance. "Fine, only because I'm interested in your abilities.", she growled out crossing her arms. Gabriel just nodded his head, looking around the mostly dark area. He saw what looked like Blake laying on his side a few feet away from him. Gabriel started making his way over there. Grace hot on his heels, continuing on from before. "The group I'm a part of is called the seven deadly sins. Pretty much, we embody the greatest sins of humanity, basically the pinnacle of the name."
"Interesting", Gabriel mused, kneeling down, his hand hovering over Blake's body. The white ball of light started to circle him.
"It could be interesting, I am the second one to hold the title of Greed."
"That oddly explains a lot about you, actually."
"It does", Grace admitted. The conversation died down as Blake started breathing easier, the bruises beginning to fade. After another five minutes, Gabriel summoned the ball of light back to his hand. "How does that ball of light heal? I don't sense any healing magic, or anything similar that would heal the body", She inquired.
Blake sat up suddenly before Gabriel could reply. He saw Grace standing next to Gabriel and quickly threw a punch at her face. A punch which she caught easily with her palm. "Get away from him!",he roared.
"Ugh, read the room, dumbass, the fight's over. Hell, I'll call it a tie for now if it gets you to chill out.", Grace snarled.
Blake took a look at Grace before looking at Gabriel. A look of understanding coming across his features as he took in everything. "Does that mean you're going to stop trying to kill me?"
"I mean, if I wanted to kill you, you would've been dead. But if it makes you feel better, then yes, I'll stop trying to kill you at least for now."
Blake nodded his hand firmly, accepting Gabriel's outstretched hand to get off the ground. "So what, or better yet where is this place?"
Gabriel himself didn't know, maybe it was a room in the basement or something. Looking around as much as he could make out in the darkness, he saw pieces of the flooring from Thea's office loitering on the ground. Honestly, if he didn't want to get everyone out of here, Gabriel would've just tried to find a way out already. Deciding it best to ignore Blake, he willed the ball in his hand to float above his head. He then made it glow brighter as he started looking around for Thea and Gibby.
"I don't know about you guys, but this place is giving me the creeps," Blake admitted
Grace closed her eyes as she took in a deep breath. "It's smart this place is giving you the creeps, I'm pretty sure we are standing directly inside a locked gate."
"What do you mean by a locked gate?" Gabriel asked.
"A locked gate, or an evergaol is how we trap demons we can't defeat normally.", a voice came from behind the trio.
Gabriel quickly turned around and saw Thea limping into the light with Gibby on her back. Letting Gibby fall to the ground, Thea plopped down on her butt, a huge gash in her leg. Gabriel rushed forward, kneeling next to Thea, allowing the white ball to float around her. "Do you guys have a lot of prisoners?" he asked as he focused on healing her wound.
"We have a few. This room is one of them, though I never thought we would actually fall into it."
"Wait, I remember this room now, I helped Andy build it back when I first started here.", Blake confided, standing behind Gabriel as to not get in his way of healing.
Thea's eyes snapped to Blake as she thought over what he just said. "I just want to know why you guys put it below his, err, mine, office?"
Blake rubbed his eyes, his body language tired, his shoulders slumping. "All I will admit is the fact that this thing killed so many people before we could put it down. We barely were able to do that because it had a weakness to my shield for some odd reason."
"Was it the shield, or was it the holy energy from the shield?", Grace asked, looking at the wound on Thea close before her eyes.
"Hmm, might have been the energy of the shield. Although I did tell Andy that it got weaker when we got the creature away from water.", Blake thought aloud as rubbed where his bread would be in a thinking manner.
"What were you fighting?" Thea wonder, her gaze roaming from Gabriel's face to Blake's face
"Not too far off based on how it looked, it was like a mermaid but man, mixed with like Santa Claus."
"That is way too confusing", Grace shivered, not wanting to even imagine what a creature like that would look like.
Gabriel leaned back, whipping the sweat off brow,"How does your leg feel now?" He stood up, offering a hand down to help her to her feet.Thea quickly took the offer, standing up to her feet. Gabriel held on to her hand as she took a couple steps, ensuring in case she fell, he was there to catch her.
"Wow, your healing is really something else." Thea stated as she hopped up and down on the injured leg.
Gabriel let go of Thea's hand, taking a step back so she had room to move around. "I'm glad I could help you out even if it was only a bit."
"Nah, you did an amazing job compared to even the healers we have here."
Gabriel scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "Haha, thanks," he said, before turning to look at Blake, a serious expression on his face. "Can the creature escape from the evergaol if we stay here for too long?"
Blake took a moment to think, eyes tilted to the sky as tapped his index finger against his cheek. "I think some of the flooring we fell through held some runes needed to keep the room together.
"Wait, hold up. So you're the creature could be around here somewhere?", Thea inquired.
"I mean, yeah, we didn't kill, we just looked in a room….", Blake trailed, his expression changing as if a light bulb just gone off in his head. "Oh crap, that means the thing could be wandering around here right now, since the spell that kept it docile is broken."
Thea quickly turned towards Gabriel, her expression panicked. "How long will it take for you to heal, Gibby?"
"Hmm, not too long depending on his injuries.", Gabriel replied, not wanting for any response as went towards the downed Gibby and began healing any injuries.
Grace crossed her arms, her cocked to the side as she looked at the group. "What's there to be so worried about? I'm pretty sure you guys right now should be able to handle most things that could attack you."
Blake shook his head at her words. "I'm worried about if this thing gets any liquids of any kind, blood included, how much power it gets back.
"Do you think I should be worried about a creature that you can't even name?"
Blake rubbed his temples, a boding headache forming. "The Vodyanoy is an S- Rank mythical creature."
The cocky smile on Grace's face died, replaced by a look of shock. "Like the water spirit?"
"Yeah the very same", Blake acknowledged
"Mr. Owens, I would respectfully like it if you would hurry the hell up so we can leave.", Grace panicked, turning towards Gabriel.
Gabriel looked up at Grace while he held his hand out. The ball of light is still circling Gibby's body. "He should complete his actions here soon, and then we can figure out a way of this place, I suppose. Though I'm confused on why you worried, you easily just took on the four of us."
"An S-Rank monster is leagues above me. It's like you trying to go fight a professional fighter without any training." She responded.
"I see, next question: what is the ranking system you're starting to bring up, because I've never heard of it before?"
Thea seeing the annoyed look on Grace's face, quickly interrupted in the conversation."I promise once we get out of here I'll answer any questions for you."
Gabriel stood up, not as much sweat on him as when he healed Thea. Gibby's injuries have been less severe. "I'm finished healing him so if we want to start heading out of here, we can."
"Now…..now… youngster.", a deep baritone voice echoed from around the room. The words came out slowly, as if the person hadn't spoken in a very long time. "Don't run...it has been a long time since I've seen another person." Gabriel's eyes widened as man, if you could describe that came limping into view.
The man had light green skin, his hair was long and matted, the same as his beard. Both were the color green. The man also had a big potbelly, with dark beady eyes similar to a fish. The man had a rather bulbous head that seemed too large to his huge stocky frame. Overall, Gabriel had a foreboding feeling at seeing the short man coming towards them.
