Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

Monarch HQ.

"There he goes again, causing issues for everyone involved."

Ishiro's amused tone rang out in the observation room where dozens of agents and scientists worked, looking at the data they were receiving from their network.

And the main subject of today's discussion was, of course, Rayquaza.

"This is perhaps the only being in history that is capable of something like this."

Dr. Vivienne's awe-filled voice made Ishiro hum in agreement.

"True. Then again, he has long since proven himself to be very different from a regular Titan, or even his 'siblings'. Speaking of, where is the liaison from Hoenn?"

"Elder Kaito is already on the way on one of their stealth crafts."

Ishiro nodded his head in relief, knowing that there was no way for anyone, not even the United States of America, to track the stealth crafts of Hoenn unless under a specific set of circumstances.

After all, Hoenn was always a step ahead in terms of technological development compared to the rest of the world, thanks to their core philosophies.

A philosophy that said no question was stupid and that every avenue of advancement must be thoroughly investigated.

Unlike the scientific communities of the rest of the world, Hoenn's people and government never ridicule or dismiss a theory, no matter how ridiculous or convoluted it sounds. Hell, they didn't even outright dismiss the Flat Earth theory despite having long since established the nature of Earth's shape thanks to their relationship with the Iwi.

Instead, they poured resources into those who wanted to investigate it. Only after indisputable evidence was gathered from all kinds of experiments did they finally conclude that the theory was wrong.

Such was their way of doing things, and it paid dividends.

Because they took their scientific advancements so seriously that they became so advanced in terms of science and technology, even incurring the envy of the USA and USSR at their peak.

Of course, this was just one of the many reasons, including how patent systems worked in their country.

There was a reason why these two superpowers considered Hoenn a threat to their power and took many measures to try and supress this country that was only a fraction of their total territory.

USA even went so far as to annex Hawaii and maintain a permanent military base there to keep an eye on Hoenn.

According to his father, there were even talks of attacking Hoenn during World War II before they joined hands with the Allies after the Holocaust of Germany extended to their own people, who were taken from Hoenn's various embassies and other such political institutions that they maintained across the world for promoting peace and trying to end the wars through dialogue instead of violence.

Shaking his head to get rid of those thoughts, Ishiro focused back on the task at hand.

They watched as Rayquaza's signature kept accelerating and went beyond their current instruments to keep track of.

"What do you think?"

Vivienne went through the data and communicated with the technicians before replying to her boss/friend.

"From what we gathered, he was going 55 miles per second and was still accelerating by the time he left our range. Given what we observe so far, we think he is using the Brachistochrone Trajectory to travel, where he will keep accelerating for the first half of his travel and then decelerate during the second half of the journey."

"Our estimations place his arrival at Mars, assuming he is going to Mars, within the week. Or maybe even less if he keeps accelerating."

Ishiro nodded his head and kept staring at the screen with wonder clear in his eyes.

"This should be the so-called 'definitive proof' that those fools at the Pentagon need to know that Rayquaza is not some mindless beast but an intelligent being that understands the natural laws and knows how to use them to his advantage."

Vivienne smiled at her boss's words.

"I think it is only those old timers, too set in their ways, that are asking for such proof. The rest were, as you said, already infiltrated or converted over to Hoenn's side long ago."

"True. However, unfortunately, those old timers still hold power in the Pentagon. And given that Hoenn has suddenly switched from their normal way of operating, where they make such people 'disappear', these old men are here to stay. This means we have to provide them with irrefutable data that even those blockheads will have no choice but to accept."

"But, what if they take this as the sign that Rayquaza is dangerous and try to attack him?"

"Then they are doomed. Because no matter how much of a pacifist Hoenn's people have suddenly become, they will still not accept an attack on their god."

"Hm. I hope nothing like that happens."

Ishiro smiled at the compassionate soul's words and remained silent, watching his people work.

'I wonder what new wonders and horrors are waiting for us in this new and uncertain future?'

Mars. Olympus Mons.

Near the ancient volcanic mountain on the planet of Mars, a strange sight that would baffle any human who witnessed it was unfolding.

Strange, pink creatures that had stubby arms and legs with wings on their backs bounced around happily, gathering all kinds of rocks rich in metals or minerals.

Happily singing in their soft voices, these creatures with cute black eyes and large, happy grins on their face bounced around with their 'sisters' without a care in the world.

However, suddenly, all of their long, black-tipped ears twitched as they caught the distant booming in the sky, startling them from their joyous moment.

As one, they turned to the sky and witnessed a scene that sent terror flowing through their bodies.

A colossal serpentine form shooting through the sky.

Its emerald scales shone in the light. Its long golden ribbons burning with unfathomable power. And its yellow eyes glint with a predatory light.

An alien form that these tiny beings had never seen in the thousands of years their people had existed near this mountain.

His presence brushed against their minds, reminding them of their 'creator', which was not a good thing in the minds of these small, cute, and peaceful beings.

As one, their instincts took over in response to their fear, and they all ran into the various cave entrances that led to an elaborate cave system hidden within Olympus Mons, afraid that this alien being would find them.

For the first time in 20,000 years, these creatures, born from an alien, eldritch entity, felt like their peaceful lives had been abruptly shattered.
