Chapter 24 - Chapter 24

'You look like shit, Brother.'

'I feel like shit.'

I grumbled as I coiled around the colossal spire stretching into the sky, which was probably the same height as the Eiffel Tower, or maybe even more. The tower that the people of Hoenn named the Sky Tower.

Honestly, at this point, I am convinced that the universe has a sick sense of humor or the 'almighty llama' Arceus is somewhere out there, making these kinds of changes here and there to mess around with me.

First, it was the three. Groudon, the mutated lizard superspecies born during a time that not even the titans remember. Kyogre, born during the same time as Groudon, and similarly a mutation of his original species. And then, a few thousand years later, I, who was also a mutation of my original species.

Then came the birth of Hoenn millions of years later, and with it came the mutated 'Meat Berries', which are basically discount Berries from Pokémon.

And now, I find out that Eternatus crashed on Mars thousands of years ago, and its ambient radiation mutated local extremophile life into the Clefairy line?

Yeah, this much stuff cannot be a coincidence.

Groudon huffed in amusement at my answer to Kyogre while lazily sprawled on the hastily constructed podium for him by his tribe, munching on the crystals he brought up from Hollow Earth. The same crystals he gave to the humans in return for a steady supply of alcohol, just like how Kyogre increased the number of lakes and rivers on the landmass, and I brought a rather large asteroid rich in all kinds of minerals so that we can pay for our drinks and food.

We may be a living embodiment of forces of nature, but we are not freeloaders. Definitely not.

Although our actions may or may not have made things hell for the council of Hoenn, since they now have to face the UN, which is asking rather pointed questions about all of this.

That being said, I think this day was long overdue, given the rapid technological advancement of humanity, which would make it inevitable that they would discover our existence one way or another.

Hell, from what I learned, my existence was already exposed four centuries ago by Galileo. The only reason nobody took it seriously back then was because one of the descendants of my priests had infiltrated the Inquisition back then and managed to remove all records of my existence.

Sheer coincidence and luck. That was what kept my existence from being known by the majority.

And truthfully, I think I am glad about that, just a little bit, even though I don't condone what these guys have done in the name of keeping my secret for all these centuries.

Because I know firsthand what happens when humanity is filled with a religious fervor or is terrified of something. Even more so when there are people who use religion for their own ends.

In the past, I tried so many times to help humanity while keeping my form hidden. I used telepathy to share knowledge, wisdom, and the concepts of peace and unity with those people, but it was always a failure.

Shaking my head to get rid of those thoughts, I turned back to reality.

Kyogre was happily munching on a large pile of the Meat Berries, something that the humans gave him and Groudon happily, despite the massive dent it would put in their economy.

Although, given the boons we have given them, things might balance out in the end.

'So? How was your experience with flying through space?'

Kyogre's teasing tone made me huff in annoyance.

'You know exactly how it went, Kyogre. You were connected to me, remember?'

'Yeah. That deceleration phase of yours was not fun at all. Also, why did you decide to share that discomfort with us over the link like that!?'

'Because a certain duo of my brothers was making fun of me on Mars, where I was forced to slither on the ground for a good bit.'

I ignored their collective discomfort with a triumphant grin.

They do have a point, however.

The acceleration phase was a relatively easy part of the travel between planets. After all, I am used to going at extreme speeds, and my body is adapted to it, even though the stress was too much for me at first, before my body adapted.

However, the deceleration phase had a serious kick to it.

When I reversed the polarity of the magnetic fields and used the 'barrel' to slow down, the push was originally so high that my body nearly broke apart because of the sudden deceleration.

It was only my experience with unexpected situations that I was able to control the output of the magnetic fields and slow down gradually, avoiding a calamity.

And that went double when I was heading back to Earth since I was carrying a giant fuck off asteroid with me, nicked from the Asteroid Belt as a gift for the people of Hoenn.

I nearly got dragged down to the surface by the asteroid when I performed reentry into the planet.

'Are you planning to tell the humans about the dragon on Mars?'

'No. Groudon. I am not going to tell them. At least not until they become a unified species that doesn't shoot first and asks questions later.'

'....Yeah. That could be a while.'

I nodded at my brother's words.

The problem with Eternatus is that he is not inherently evil, at least according to the Cleffa that brought me to it in the first place.

They say that he was just someone who failed to understand those around him, and if he were taught properly, could become a good being.

However, for now, his hunger, even in his dormant state, is too much for him to think straight. That is why the Clefairy line performs that dance of theirs once a week. In this ritual, they absorb the ambient energy radiating off of Eternatus. The leak forces his body to produce more of those strange particles, which means he becomes hungrier and hungrier as the days go by.

Once these particles are absorbed, the Clefairies and Clefables go to his resting chamber and transfer all that energy back to his body while keeping a tiny bit to themselves since this energy is also their life source.

This way, they alleviate some of his hunger and reduce the burden on his comatose body.

Now, imagine what will happen if humans learn about such a race of creatures that can absorb and release energy at will, and even worse, the dragon slumbering on Mars?

At best, they will enslave the Clerfairy line for their own purposes, leaving Eternatus to rot until a point where his hunger would force him awake, causing an unprecedented disaster.

At worst, they try to attack both the Clefairy line and Eternatus, waking him up. Again, an unprecedented catastrophe.

This is why I think it is better that humans don't know about this for now.

As we discussed things, I felt the wormhole that Groudon opened up on Hoenn pulse before a familiar, cheerful presence, and a familiarly grumpy presence made themselves known to us through their mental link.

With a happy screech, Mothra shot out of the wormhole, causing a little panic in the local populace before the police and a few members of the council calmed them down.

Similarly, Godzilla slowly walked out with a slumped posture, showing that he was probably dragged against his will by the lively moth.

'Groudon! Kyogre! Why didn't you tell me about your plans to supress your powers!? And Rayquaza! Why didn't you tell me about your ability to fly in space!?'

Groudon and Kyogre turned to look at Godzilla as the moth continued pestering me, primarily while reaching out to my brothers through the mental link.

Godzilla huffed at the unspoken question.

'Don't look at me. I don't have anything to do with this.'

Listening to the endless fountain of questions pouring out of the mental link, I could not help but smile.

Yeah, this is my life now.
