Chapter 22 - Chapter 22

The little being struggled as best as it could. Her soft, pink body straining against the gentle yet immovable tail of emerald scales and plates.

She did not have a name, just like the rest of her kind, because they did not have any such concept.

However, she did have the concept of fear. An emotion she felt as the colossal being stared down at her with amusement. A strange softness to its gaze that unnerved her.

She felt its unfathomably deep consciousness brush against her own, filling her with terror beyond words.

The only being that she and the rest of her kind knew of on this world that was not themselves was their creator. He was the only one who held the same depth of consciousness as this new arrival.

So it was no surprise that the little one felt deeply terrified.

Yet, despite her rejection of the mental connection, no retaliation came from the being. Instead, the massive being tried to connect with her again, and again and again.

Finally, mustering up all her courage, the little baby of her species opened her mind and instantly felt overwhelmed with the sheer power of the being's mind, which the creature kept at bay.

'Hello, young one. Fear not, for I mean you no harm.'

Words that meant nothing to her went through her mind, filling her with confusion.

Fortunately, the being realized his mistake and switched to intent transmission instead of pure words.

This time, she realized what the being meant to say, and finally relaxed.

She and the rest of her kind lived in harmony and peace, so they had no need for a concept such as lies. That is why she immediately relaxed when he told her that he meant her no harm.

However, in the absence of fear came curiosity.

As the being slowly let her go, she bounced up and down, hopping high into the air thanks to her species's inherent power to control gravity.

The cute and curious creature sent all kinds of questioning intent to the alien being while bouncing all over its body. Questions that the being patiently answered.

However, suddenly, a distant melodious cry rang out. Several voiced overlapping into this tune of fear and anxiousness.

The little one immediately stopped bouncing on the dragon with an uncertain look, looking between its new 'friend' and the direction where its kind was desperately calling for her.

Thankfully, the dragon had a solution to her dilemma.

He picked up the pink blob-like creature and placed it between his head crest, allowing her to grab his 'horns' to stabilize herself, as he started slithering towards her family.

A distance that would have taken her at least half an hour to clear was covered in a handful of minutes.

Finally, they reached an area that the humans call Olympus Mons, the home of her species and the resting place of their creator.

The moment they arrived, however, the rest of her kind immediately fled at the sight of the alien dragon.

The little one bounced off of the dragon's head and landed gently on the ground, calling on her people enthusiastically while communicating to them that he was not dangerous.

Just like her, the rest of her species immediately let down their guard and bounced over with curiosity.

The juveniles of her species, who had slightly larger bodies and more refined control over their powers, circled the dragon with curiosity and climbed his entire length without a care in the world.

The adults, on the other hand, had wing-like structures growing out of their backs and complete control over their powers.

They approached the dragon and 'spoke' happily, just as full of questions as the infant.

For many hours after, the little beings talked to the enormous dragon about all sorts of stuff as the day turned to night.

Then, the dragon witnessed a beautiful sight.

All the juveniles and adults of the species gathered around Olympus Mons' various hidden cave systems and started bouncing in a circle. A rhythmic dance born from thousands of years of refinement.

I watched as the creatures that could not be anything other than Clefairy and Clefables danced around the cave system's entrances. Their bodies visibly absorb the strange energy radiating off of whatever is hidden inside the caves.

When I first arrived here, I never imagined that I would see a scene straight out of Pokémon like this.

However, given that my brothers and I are straight up the analogs of the Weather trio, I'll let it slide.

I saw the little Cleffa that was following me before joining in with the rest of the Cleffa, which should be the infants of this species, as they too tried to clumsily imitate the adults, trying to absorb the energy.

However, probably because they were still children, their absorption rate was much slower and far more unrefined. Their bounces far more random, and their coordination nowhere near as good as the adults.

'Brother, tell me something. Why is it that it is always you who ends up in such interesting situations where you get to see such beautiful sights, and the only things that we get to look forward to are idiotic Titans or parasitic fauna that wishes to mooch off of our radiation and powers?'

'I don't know. Maybe because I am clearly the better of us three siblings.'

'Narcissism does not suit you, Rayquaza.'

'Ooh! Someone is learning human vocabulary.'

Groudon grumbled at my jab while I felt Kyogre sulk since he was not here personally to see this adorable sight.

Suddenly, the little Cleffa that brought me here bounced towards me and waved enthusiastically, transmitting the intent to follow her as she bounced off into the caves.

Honestly, either it is pure luck that the cave she bounced off into is large enough for me to slither into, or she really does have the ability to think, which would be really shocking considering what I've seen so far.

Chuckling at my own joke, I slithered after her, the rest of her species not doing anything to stop me. In fact, I saw many a Clefairy and Clefable wave happily at me as I departed into the caves that are probably their home.

Such a strange species, not at all like the Titans or even the humans that I am used to.

As I followed Cleffa deep into the system, the caves slowly tightened a bit before opening up into a colossal chamber that could probably hold my siblings and me comfortably.

Then, I nearly fired my Macron Cannon on instinct at what I saw in there.

A colossal being that dwarfed my siblings and me easily.

Its skeletal, draconian body was covered in black spines and pink flesh that gleamed like living energy.

Its 'wings' were black segmented plates that just happened to look like the wings of a dragon.

Its 'head' was buried under Martian rock. Its long 'claws' lying powerlessly by its side.

Yet, its glowing, pulsing 'rib cage' that was continuously radiating the strange energy that saturated the surroundings, the same energy that Cleffa's species was eating, showed that it was far from dead.

'Whoa! Look at the size of that thing!'

'What the hell is that?! I've never seen anything like it! Not even that alien brat from all those thousands of years ago had this kind of presence.'

I did not answer my siblings because I was far too busy trying to come to terms with the literal alien Pokémon in front of me.

'My life just got a whole lot more complicated.'
