Chapter 8 - Ch8- Grinding & Dojo

A few weeks have passed since the day Ryoken got Chaos Witch, and he actually managed to make the deck with the help of his new little brother.

Since Yuri was a named character, one with an important role in canon, the more he dueled him, the more progress he made in the milestone set for named characters, and of course its rewards were befitting of it too.

Whilst the first duel gave him 1K gems, from the second duel on each time he won he gained 100 gems. He also earned 1K DP if you're wondering.

The gems he earned from dueling Yuri was four times what he gained extras, and being in dire need of gems to make the chaos deck, he and Yuri had dueled a few times.

For Yuri's part, he was fine with dueling because no one had ever paid this much attention to him, so enjoyed every single duel although he lost.

In the span of 24 Hours time that Ryoken had, he managed to duel with Yuri 15 times.

Some might say that the number seems low, but they have to take in the fact that dueling took a big tull on duelists.

If it was in his previous life, he would be just laying down his bed as he dueled people using his phone.

But it was different here when the damage dealt to both of them was actually real.

More importantly the theory about the bond of spirits and their impact on drawing cards seemed to be true, as he was getting the cards he wanted easier.

One time he even managed to use pot of greed three times in a row, and top it with a graceful charity to finish his momentum.

The rewards for the main cast characters milestone were like this:

Winning for the first time gave him 1K gem, for the fifth time it gave 1500 and lastly for the tenth time it gave 2K gems.

In total he had earned 6K gems from dueling Yuri and pulled them all into the Chaos secret pack, getting the needed cards and making a few support cards to complete it.

After that the number of duels he had with Yuri were reduced to 6 ~ 8 duels per day.

In the span of the weeks that passed, he reached the 25 and 50 duels against a named character milestone, racking up a total of 10K gems from the two milestones and 3500 gems from the daily duels they had.

He didn't save any gem and used them all on master packs, getting random UR cards and dismantling them to make other cards.

He made a few decks with concepts of having fun and spreading the joy of dueling, one themed with cards similar to Lava golem, a few with burn damage as their core and some to lock out opponents.

Now he just needed a victim to try out his new decks. Unfortunately Yuri was sleeping, tired from all the duels, after all he was just 8 years old.

"Master why not go outside?" Medea suggested.

They came to an agreement to call her Medea instead of chaos, which she appreciated.

(A/N: Special thanks to Keychain_king for suggesting the name.)

'She's basically telling me to go and touch grass...'

Seeing that she had a point, he decided to get out of the warehouse and walk around for a bit.

He left a note for Yuri that in case he woke up he wouldn't go and look around for him.

Looking at the map that system showed him, he saw many blank spaces in the map which he hadn't paid attention to before.

"Why are some places blank?"

[Answer; Whilst the system provides the map, it is the user's duty to map the area and explore them. By going to the Blank spots on the map, they will be added to the map.]

'Ah so it's like the feature in open world games in which you unlock lands on a map by going through them or accessing their checkpoint.'

"Medea can you detect other spirits, or anything close to them?"

"I do Ryo, most spirits have. We can Sense our own kind, so if you're looking for another spirit I can help."

Ryoken didn't expect anyone to have a spirit here in this dimension, or at least that's what he thinks for now, as this might be different from canon.

He let Medea lead him through the city, walking past dozens of people whom he neither knew or didn't want to know.

Why was he following Medea? because if she finds a spirit, it means he can duel a strong opponent. And he was itching for it.

After a good fifteen minutes of walking and following her without asking any questions, they finally stopped in front of an old yet elegant building, similar to a dojo.

Seeing the name of the dojo, Ryoken eyes narrowed.

On the sign it was written in big letters (CYBER Art), indicating that this Dojo belonged to the Cyber style.

Obviously as a Yu-Gi-Oh! fan he knew that in the original Gx series, this was the dojo that Chancellor Sheppard ran.

More importantly it's the same place that one of the powerhouses of the series, Zane Truesdale Aka Kaiser trained at during his childhood.

That being said, Neither of them appeared in the Arc-V series, so seeing the dojo made him Wary of it.

'If Zane does exist in this era, it means that canon might be fucked up before I even do anything...'

If Zane existed in Arc-v, a character who wasn't supposed to feature in it, it meant that there might be more characters like him, meaning that many things would go differently from their canon counterparts.

"Well there's only one way to find out." He Muttered before opening the dojo's door and entering.

------------------------

------------------------

Chancellor Sheppard was having a very good day. Everything was progressing peacefully and perfectly.

It's been a few years since he resigned from his position as the Duel academy's Chancellor.

Did he miss his job? sometimes yes, but it was worth it, because he had finally married the woman of his dreams, Dorothy.

So he left his job and opened up a dojo, training young people to be aspiring duelists by teaching them the Cyber art.

And sure enough, he was blessed by gods and gained a pupil who had extraordinary talent in dueling and Cyber art.

To not lose him to another dojo or any other scout, he made the boy his first and last disciple, even giving him the cards he treasured.

Thankfully the said disciple didn't disappoint him and used the cards he gave him masterfully.

He had mastered the Cyber art to the degree of drawing 3 Cyber dragons and polymerization in a single hand.

He planned to give him his most prized card, Cyber End Dragon one of these days.

As Sheppard was watching his students, he saw his disciple, Zane training in a corner alone, making him smile.

But then he noticed an unfamiliar face amongst his other students, walking around the dojo cluelesly.

'New Student?' He thought to himself before approaching the white haired boy.

"Hello young one, are you here to apply for our dojo?" He asked, observing the boy and awaiting his answer.

The boy's eyes Widened briefly when he saw him before staring at him with a complex reaction.

"Not really, I saw your dojo and thought you might have strong duelists here." The boy answered nonchalantly.

"Interesting... I'm Sheppard, the owner of this dojo. I can arrange a spar with one of my students if you'd like."

Something about the boy made him intrigued, almost giving him the same feeling when he met Zane for the first time.

"Really? I'd be grateful for that, oh and by the way I'm Ryoken Kogami." The boy bowed down slightly as he introduced himself.

"Well then young Ryoken, wait for a few minutes till I arrange the duel for you."

After a few minutes Sheppard came back with a brown haired boy "This is one of my students, Maxwell. He's been in the Dojo for a few years so his skills are real."

'Why does every extra character's name start with Max? is this a sign to use max-c?' Ryoken thought to himself as he observed his opponent.

"Ryo, this guy is weak." Medea whispered to him, not like anyone could hear or see her.

Ryoken didn't say much and raised his duel disk, readying himself for the duel.

So what if his opponent was weak? he still could share the joy of dueling with him.

Of course because he was a kind person, he decided to not use his chaos deck, as it would leave his opponent in despair from its devastating power.

Medea only shook her head as she looked at Ryoken's opponent with pity in her eyes.

------------------------------------

And that's it for this chapter. No duels in this one but no need to worry, next chapter will cover mc duel with Maxwell, after that a duel with zane will start which might take three chapters at most if I make it complex.

Throw in any nasty and toxic combo you can think of that is playable in Arc-V. Some duels will be for fun and random toxic decks, while some would be with his main decks like Blue-eyes or Chaos.

For love interest I was thinking of someone like sherry Leblanc. What are yout thoughts on that? Nothings set in stone because romance is in distant future.

See you guys on next chapter, and make sure to leave comments because they motivate me to write more chapters.
