Chapter 7 - An Army - II

"Eisenfaust, an S5 approaching from 11'o clock. I repeat, an S5 is approaching from 11'o clock." A man said, from the radio.

"Roger." The guy in the cockpit room wearing a neat and fancy looking military uniform, said.

Inside the cockpit, there's a bunch of blue lights; it's the control panel. It is very futuristic, indeed. Inside, he wore a sharp black military uniform trimmed with tan lines and adorned with silver buttons and a golden shoulder cord, giving him an air of authority. Beneath it, a dark shirt and loosened crimson tie hint at exhaustion beneath his composed exterior. The white gloves and perfect tailoring, but the faint disarray in his appearance reveals a man burdened by the weight of duty. At last, every member of the squadron wears the same uniform. It looks fancy, isn't it?

"Don't worry, captain, we got your back!" the other guy said, encouraging him.

The tank, in detail, looks pretty intimidating. It is a weapon of theirs. It's dark. I mean, the color is dark. It's mostly made out of carbon fiber. Some are metal, though. The head is almost like a sphere; but it was shaped neatly in a futuristic way. If you look at it from the outside, there's no windows or anything like that.

So, how did they see through? Basically, there's cameras all over; it's recording in real-time. Get it? What they're seeing are just a bunch of screens. The tentacles are pretty weird and sophisticated. It's equipped with strong articulation and other complicated compartments. The cannon is like a regular tank. It doesn't have much uniqueness to tell. Like, it's long, and its muzzle's a circle. However, it is built tough for duties.

Machine crackling, hydraulics creaking. The Ketzer's octopus-like tank charged towards the enemy without hesitation. Ketzer pulled the switch, then the tentacles pinched with a lot of force to the ground, which caused it to 'jump' forward. It jumps above the Syn-Serpent just a few feet from it. He aimed the cannon straight to the Syn-Serpent's head. Then, BOOM! It collapsed unconsciously right at the shot. A shockwave spread in every direction. The tank landed safely on the ground.

"Ketzer! How many warnings did you need to not pull that maneuver? You'll break the Panzerkrake's compartments again." The man from the radio shouted politely. "Eisen, Stählerne, Wolf, Bär, Adler, Jäger, Stier, and Ramm, please watch over him more frequently." He shouted the whole squadrons' names—it's a pseudonym.

The muscular man with a military uniform sighed; crossing his arms. "He even called the whole Squadron, wasn't he?"

"Alright…." Ketzer forcefully sighed.

"It's fine, don't mind him." A girl said from the background of the radio.

"Hey! I told you to shut up." The man from earlier shouted at her.

The whole squadron giggled, and some even burst into laughter; did they forget that they're in a battlefield currently? However, the guy who's called 'Ketzer' didn't even bugde to smile. He kept his cold expression.

After quite an ice-breaking, they continued to take their enemies—the Syn-Serpents, one by one. If you count them, there are 9 units fighting Syn-Serpents. For the Syn-Falcons, there's already a squadron assigned to take them down. They're the artillery squadron (Hammerschlag). They were using the same unit as Ketzer's unit.

However, they're in the back of the formation and were equipped with optimized gears to shoot missiles a lot higher and only designed for distance units. For reference, Ketzer's squadron (Eisenfaust squadron) is the knife; artillery squadron is the sniper. However, is that it?

Back at the formation, 7 tanks like before but with a much longer barrel waiting for incoming enemies. It pointed upwards and never moved an inch.

"Hammerschlag, don't move from your position. It might be pretty silent back there. Still, we don't know when they're-"

The radio shuts.

"Ugh, shut up." A guy defiantly shuts the radio without thinking.

A girl of the same squadron giggled. "You shouldn't be that rude, y'know? Captain Orkan."

"Whatever, we're not even paid enough for this. However, those fools from the Eisenfaust; those 'brave pigs' are just weird as hell." He, Orkan, makes fun of Eisenfaust in a mocking tone.

"Yeah…. C'mon, captain, can't you be polite for one time? At least put the Eisenfaust aside from your mock." Another guy from the squadron said.

Orkan sighed. "Whatever."

"Hey! You! Who let you turn the radio off?" The earlier man from the radio finally gets to connect with them. Of course, he's mad.

Orkan yawned, crossing his arms, leaning his feet against the monitor in front of him. Because of this, the man from the radio decided not to argue with this guy. Yeah, he's definitely irritated.

Back to Ketzer's squadron, it's not really busy anymore. They had killed a ton. There's a lot of Syn-Serpents' corpses all over their tracks. However…,

"Eisenfaust, an S7! From 1'o clock. My gosh, I thought it's already over." The man from the radio said.

"What! An S7? Man… we should be careful."

"Adler! I need a backup." Ketzer commands him.

"Roger that, captain." Adler replied.

"Hey, y'all won't do something crazy, right?" The man from the radio suspicion.

Adler approaches the S7 at high speed, then changes his direction to the left when he's close. He jumped straight upward.

"Now, captain!"

Ketzer sprints towards Adler, who is in the air. When the distance was right, he jumped to Adler's unit; he immediately jumped, using Adler's unit as a stepping support. Adler instantly bounced straight to the ground as Ketzer got higher in the air. He timed for the perfect height, so the muzzle will perfectly line up to the Syn-Serpent's forehead. For short, KABOOM!

After the appearance of the S7, they were infuriated by the man from the radio. He loses his temper for sure. Nonetheless, they haven't faced any Chronicles for quite a while. They were left in warned mode at that time.

"Ketzer, it looks like the last Syn-Serpent is coming from your 10'o clock. It's an S2. You can take it down on your own. After this last Chronicle, y'all can retreat." The man from the radio commanded.

"Roger."

He turned to the direction. There's a boulder blocking his vision. He jumped on it while keeping his momentum, and then he jumped forward, slightly tilting downward. There's the Syn-Serpent creeping—it wasn't very big. However, his cold face turned to unbelief and shock. It's chasing a boy, a girl and… a cat? Whoever those fortunate survivors, Ketzer diverted his attention back to the Chronicle.

He grips the Syn-Serpent's neck tightly with his tank's tentacles; he aims the muzzle, then BOOM! Unfortunately, it creates a shockwave that causes the survivors to be thrown to the ground; embracing each other, but the boy lands first to the ground. Ketzer landed safely. Not so long, he opened a door from his left—it opens upward very neatly and futuristic. He walked while keeping his cold being; approaching them.

Ketzer is close to them. "How lucky… y'all is."
