At the bakery shop, the doorbell rang, and the floor squeaked. The atmosphere's warm and fragrances by the breads' scent.
"Welcome, sweetheart!" The auntie at the cashier welcomed Felix in German.
Felix nodded and gazed around the room. He gets closer to the auntie. He then scanned inside the display case—there were a lot of desserts already tagged with its price! Not long after, he saw a cheesecake priced at 8 Reichmark; his eyes showed approvement.
"Uhm… Can I have this?" Felix said in German and pointed at the delicious cheesecake.
"Great! Wait a second, dear. I'll pack it up for you." The auntie said and smiled lovingly. "Say, young man, are you new here? I've never seen a handsome young man like you before." The auntie asked while packing.
"Oh, yes, I am. I just moved right across from this bakery shop." Felix said.
"Really?" The auntie placed the boxed cheesecake aside—the box was colored cyan, and there's a small ribbon on it. "So you're Seren's brother? Dear…. Let me think…, you're Felix Montclair, aren't you?" The auntie said.
"Yeah, that's me. However, we're not consanguineous, though…. But our bond is like true siblings, I suppose."
"Ohh, I see…. Your sister has told me a bunch about you. And it looks like you've woken up from 4 days of coma, if I have recalled it correctly. I'm happy you're alright, your sister is worrying a lot about you, dear." The auntie explains.
On the other hand, Felix was speechless and immobilized. 4- 4 days!? He thought. However, he tried to keep his manners "Y-yeah…. I'm pleased that you were happy…. However, it seems like I need to go, I didn't want her to wait any longer." He said.
The auntie rested her palm on her head. "Ah, sorry for taking your time…. Here!" The auntie hands the boxed cheesecake to Felix.
"It's fine, Aunt…" Felix said while handing her the 10 Reichmark bill from his pocket.
"Helga Schmidt." The auntie continued Felix's phrase and took the bill from Felix's hand.
"Ahh, it's fine, Aunt Schmidt, I appreciate our conversation." Felix said and slightly bowed. "Have a nice day, I'll see you later." Felix waved and walked off.
The auntie waved and smiled soothingly.
Dude…, 4 days….
At the front door of their new house, Felix opens the door and closes it back smoothly. He places the longcoat back to its coat hanger. He went to the kitchen and placed the box on the dinner table. After that, he went to the bedroom to check on Seren; and yeah, she's still catching some Z's. His letter on the door was useless, so he got rid of it and cleaned the remaining toothpaste.
However, when he was cleaning it…
"Bro…?" Seren half-consciously looks for Felix on the bed.
"I'm here!" Felix shouts.
"Huh?" Her attention went to Felix near the door; her eyes widened, "you're awake?" She immediately jumped out of bed and ran to him; to be hugged and buried her head in Felix's chest. "I've been waiting for you…. Why didn't you wake up earlier?" She said in worry.
Felix hugged Seren back. "Yeah…. I'm sorry, Seren. I'm sorry for leaving you for the past 4 days…." He said soothingly.
Seren sniffs and then looks up to Felix; her eyes are teary. "H-how did you know?"
"Well, when you're taking a napwas out to catch some fresh air, I went to the bakery shop, and Aunt Schmidt said it." Felix explains.
"Ohh…." Seren then releases her embrace.
"C'mon, I've bought a cheesecake for you." Felix said. "Now that I'm awake, let's eat…" He patted Seren, "like we used to." He smiles warmly.
Seren nods and wipes her teary eyes. She put on a weak grin.
At the kitchen, near the dining room to be exact, Felix pulled a chair for Seren to sit on. Thus, he sat across from her. Felix opens the box to reveal the beautiful and yummy cheesecake, and there are already cutleries inside. Seren's eyes perked (damn, desserts really are effective to affect her mood). She looked at Felix, and he gave the 'please!' sign.
Thus, Seren took the first bite. "Mmm!"
Felix also dug in.
"Uhmm," Seren swallows. "By the way, how can you get this? It's like… 8 Reichmark or so ...." She said.
"About that… a kind elderly man gave 10 Reichmark to me for finding his wallet." Felix said.
"Ohh! I see…." Seren took another bite.
"Say, Seren, how am I here? I bet it's Mr. Friedrich's doing." Felix asked.
I know this house is from Mr. Friedrich, I just wanted to know more details. Felix thought.
"Yeah! The figure who was idolized by the obsessive doctor at the hospital. And you've met him, right? Who actually is he?"
Felix gave an awkward sigh. "He's the federal minister of defense. I've had a little chat when you're asleep back then.
"Eh…? EHHH? He's a minister!?" Seren said out loud.
"Surely, and he also left his name card to me-"
"Ohh…. No wonder why he's so rich." Seren muttered. Felix was talking, but she muttered to herself.
"You hear me?" Felix brought her back.
"Ah! Yes, I took the name card and then borrowed one of the doctor's phone to call the number; not knowing it was a figure's number."
Felix nods in understanding.
"He gave us this house…. He also escorted us with a black car when you're unconscious. His bodyguards are the ones who lifted you to bed." Seren explains.
"By the way, is he a nice man?" Felix asked.
"Huh? I mean, yeah, he's nice and polite. Why ask?" Seren asked back.
"It's fine, I spontaneously have the urge to…."
"Alright, then." Seren said.
Afterward, Seren took the last bite. Thus, she gets up. "I'll clean it up, wait." She took the empty box and winked.
Felix sighs; he stretches his arms, and then he looks at the ceiling. "Mr. Friedrich…, what do you actually want from me?" He mutters.
