After following the riverside for a while, the atmosphere is getting more cruel due to the destruction around. There's no way someone could survive the Chronicles' madness. They blindly commit offense to humans without any warnings.
From right to the left, there's barely a building nor humans—there are birds, fishes, and a few insects around. Somehow, it feels a lot more horrible and horrible. After quite a while, suddenly, a loud explosion happened from afar. It was so loud and created a dark smoke up in the air. Seren got startled like a cat while munching a muffin in her hand. On the other hand, Felix furrowed his brows.
Soon after, they spotted a Syn-Serpent creeping like an actual snake looking for prey; but it was huge. If you pay closer attention, it's fighting over a… tank? It looks like an octopus, but the size of a tank, huh? It also has a tank-like cannon on its forehead. It moves around in unimaginable flexibility. The octopus-like tank suddenly jumps onto one of the Syn-Serpent; then shoots an explosive straight to its head. The Syn-Serpent collapsed unconsciously to the ground. The explosion was loud and created a shockwave to every direction, including theirs. Luckily, they're at a safe distance—nothing can hurt them at this distance.
"W-what is all of this?! Brother, did you see that?" Seren spontaneously reacted to what she had just witnessed.
"Yes. C'mon, this ain't a safe place." Felix replied, then carried Théo to his shoulder like holding a radio in the 90s.
Felix held Seren's hand, then led her to a safe place. As they try to find a shelter, there's barely even any concrete that stands out on this battlefield. It clearly is a battlefield that none of the 2 of them have witnessed before. There's explosions, Chronicles, and the strange tank fighting them over.
It's not one, but a whole army. They fought without fear and without any glimpse of hesitation. When they're near the river, finally, a small wall they can hide in. They took shelter in it. Around them, there's barely any living creatures. None, like, zero life. There's no green plants that catch your eyes, no buildings that pierce through the high sky. This place shouldn't be for living at the first point.
They didn't cover their face to watch the battle without letting out a word. The atmosphere's so tense that they didn't even bear to speak. Suddenly, a Syn-Falcon flew above them in the blink of an eye. It was so fast that it broke through the sound barrier. However, when it came close to the battlefield, it suddenly blew into smithereens when a cannon out of nowhere pierced through its head. Again, it creates a shockwave in every direction. The atmosphere's so tense here.
When Seren turned around, she leaned against the wall; eyes closed and let out a sigh of relief. She opened her eyes, then realized that… behind them, there's a huge Syn-Falcon right beside the river—it doesn't touch the river, only the riverside. Approximately, it was about the size of a school bus. It was dead, unconscious, or whatever you'd like to say. Henceforth, she tapped on Felix's shoulder, shaky.
"B-b-bro…." She trembles.
"Huh?"
He turned his gaze to Seren. She pointed, and then he looked back. He finally saw it and let out a gasp in reflex. From a close-up, the Syn-Falcon really looks like an ordinary eagle. It looks like the European honey buzzard, to be exact. It's a European eagle in Felix's knowledge. Its scale-like wings stretch out from his corner to the other corner of his eyes. It is lying helpless; there's a severe wound in its head, but only minor injuries from other parts.
Seren's scared, and then Felix stroked her head for a little comfort as if telling "it's fine, I'm here." Eventually, Seren took a long breath. She finally realized that it was dead.
It actually took a while until the war began to subside. They left with no choice but to wait. Like, waiting it is, I guess…. If it was estimated, maybe, just maybe, it was about an hour. Because of waiting, Seren fell asleep in Felix's embrace. Also, Théo's in his cat-dream. Now, there's no more explosion or rumble. Completely quiet. Therefore, Felix shakes Seren's shoulder gently—trying to wake her up.
"Hey, Seren, it's okay now." Felix whispered, but she didn't show any sign of awakening. "Se-ren!" He raised his voice up a notch.
"H-huh?"
She finally started to open her eyes. Little by little, no longer lidded. Then, Felix went on his feet and carefully leaned her against the wall while standing up; also holding Théo who's on his shoulder.
"It looks like we had to move." He declares.
"Really?" She rubbed her eye and requested support to get up—she raised her hand to ask for Felix's. Of course, he lifted her up.
Théo finally awakes; welcome back to reality. He yawned.
"Hey there, sleepy-head, hehe." Seren giggled while petting Théo on Felix's shoulder. Her smile faded. "Umm, bro…. Is this even the right path?" She asked.
"I-it is… no need to worry about it!" He squatted, then lowered Théo from his shoulders. "I'm pretty sure this is the only and best path." He gave Seren a warm smile. And a head pat!
"O-okay! Alright, let's go." She blushed a little and then walked forward without looking back.
Felix smiled, then tried to catch up on her with Théo. What's waiting beyond the path? Hopefully, it will be a good ending.
After quite a while of walking, they saw something from afar. It looks like… a wall? Why is it so massive? Since it appears at the horizon, it's probably a lot bigger than it looks from their position. Without thinking twice, they ran towards it—thinking that it was their light of hope.
However, when they ran; it's not even 10 seconds after they got this spirit, a Syn-Serpent approached them from behind. It was so fast, like chasing a prey. Of course, they ran for their life. It's pretty close to them. Seren screamed. However, the octopus-like tank from earlier jumped above them. It landed on the Syn-Serpent's neck, locking its tentacles in place, then aimed the cannon straight to the Syn-Serpent's head. Then… BOOM! it gives a hole in the Syn-Serpent's head. It happened so briefly.
Felix hugged Seren when it happened. Unfortunately, the shockwave was so strong that it caused Felix and Seren to be thrown forward while hugging.
