Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Becoming Secret Nanny

Edith agreed to work as Erdin's nanny and Callum's personal designer. For some reason, as she entered the study, she felt a surge of tears, as the atmosphere felt familiar. She felt like she often spent time in this room, but in the past five years, she had never visited Callum's residence and didn't even know him. Since Callum had given her a golden opportunity, she wanted to make the most of it.

Edith sat on a sofa in the study, gazing at the captivating homeowner typing something on his laptop. The homeowner then printed out what he had written and handed her some sheets of paper.

"You can read the contents of the contract first, if you feel there is something missing, you can tell me," said Callum, handing her his favorite pen.

Edith was still carefully reading the contract. Although it wasn't very detailed, as usual, she was meticulous when signing. This reminded Callum of her meticulousness when they first started working together. Callum missed all the happy moments with Edith back then, despite her stubbornness. If only Edith hadn't suffered amnesia from the accident, they wouldn't have had to be so awkward.

"Callum, I have no problem with the contents of the contract and the pay is fair for what I have done." She took the pen and then signed the contents of each page of the contract.

Callum was still mesmerized by his ex-girlfriend. His palm still supported his chin. "You'll be Erdin's secret nanny, not his regular nanny. So, you have to behave yourself. Is that okay with you?"

"Actually, I don't mind. But, if I may ask, why did you ask me to be your secret nanny?"

"Because no one should know I have a nanny. If they did, they'd think I was a bad father because I cared more about my work than my child."

Edith furrowed her eyebrows and folded her arms. "You seem like a good father."

"How do you know?"

"Because if you weren't a good father, you wouldn't have found a nanny for your son."

Although simple, it managed to make her heart flutter. If he admitted that Erdin was their son, would Edith faint upon hearing it?

"I admit it's been difficult for me to look after Erdin because I also have to work. That's why I recruited you as a secret nanny so Erdin wouldn't feel lonely. Erdin can also play with Eliana while waiting for me to come home from work."

"I can also make cookies for him."

"Great idea. Erdin loves cookies. He'll definitely love your cookies."

"But, I still feel like something's odd. Why don't you ask Eliana? Why do our children look so similar?"

For Callum, he already knew the answer. The most important thing now was that he could see his ex every day, without having to worry about her every night.

"Maybe it's just a coincidence that our children's faces are similar," Callum said casually.

"That's why you immediately recruited me because our children's faces are similar."

"That's one of the main reasons."

Edith got up from the sofa, lowering her head in shame. "Then, I'll take my leave and go home now. According to the contract, starting tomorrow, I'll be working at your house."

"Okay, I won't keep you any longer. Besides, the kids have school tomorrow. Eliana needs to get some sleep."

Callum actually wanted to talk to his ex-girlfriend longer. However, he wouldn't act recklessly, lest his ex-girlfriend resent him for overreacting. Moreover, they had only just met after five years apart. He also felt awkward looking at his ex-girlfriend's face, which hadn't changed since then.

Not only was Callum delighted to welcome his special guest, but Erdin was also delighted to play with his new friend and meet the very friendly aunt. He kept tossing and turning in bed, staring at his father, who was constantly smiling. It was actually the first time he'd seen his father smile all night, thanks to that secret meeting.

"This is the first time I've seen my father smile," said Erdin, smiling broadly as he hugged the robot.

Callum stroked his son's head slowly. "Really? Haven't I been smiling all this time?"

"But, I think Dad's smile this time is different than usual. Especially when daddy's talking to Aunt Edith. Dad looks really happy."

"My son, do you really like that beautiful aunt?"

"Of course, because Aunt Edith is so beautiful." Erdin pursed his lips for a moment. "But, I hope Dad doesn't think I'm crazy now."

"Why do I think of you like that, my son?"

"Actually, when I was talking to Aunt Edith earlier, I felt like I was talking to my mother. Even though it was the first time we met, I already really liked her and felt comfortable around her."

Callum didn't dare openly reveal that Edith was Erdin's biological mother. He wanted to find the right time to explain everything to his twins. "I'm the same as you. When I talk to her, I feel so comfortable."

"But Dad, is it true that Aunt Edith is my mother? And Eliana is my twin sister?"

"If you really like Aunt Edith, would you like me to marry her? Then she wouldn't have to be your secret nanny anymore."

Erdin widened his eyes. "Really? Can I think of Aunt Edith as my mother?"

"If you really want Edith to be your mother, I can grant your wish."

"Dad is the best."

"But you have to help me too. If you don't support Edith and me, our relationship won't progress."

"Don't worry, Dad. I will definitely support you in marrying Aunt Edith."

Meanwhile, Edith was also pondering the same thing. She was still curious about Callum. For some reason, she felt very comfortable talking to him, even when it was about work. Furthermore, Eliana wouldn't stop talking about Callum and Erdin's kindness. Eliana already considered Callum his biological father. Should she try to get closer to Callum for the sake of her child from now on?

On the other hand, she was still confused. Was Cliff her ex-boyfriend? Why did every time she talked to him, she felt both comfortable and a little ache?
