Edith was still playing with Erdin in Callum's luxurious residence. For some reason, Erdin was very obedient to her all day, even though usually boys would be very difficult to control. However, Erdin was very different from other boys. Erdin was so sweet in her eyes that she couldn't bear to go home now. Every time she looked at Erdin acting spoiled to her, she always wanted to cry. She loved Erdin as if he were her own son. But would Erdin ever consider her as a mother?
As night fell, it was time for Edith to put Erdin to bed in her own room after putting Eliana to bed in the other. Edith gazed around Erdin's room with sparkling eyes. She desperately wished she still had a son who looked like Erdin.
Now she was left sitting in the living room, lost in thought. She wondered if Callum had been busy working all day and coming home late. Callum had promised to come home early.
Because she was not used to working as a nanny, she ended up falling asleep on the sofa.
Callum had also just gotten home from work. He stared at his ex-girlfriend sleeping soundly on the sofa, laughing awkwardly. He hadn't enjoyed a sight like this in five years since they'd been apart. He desperately missed seeing his ex up close.
He took the initiative to squat down in front of his ex-lover, who was still asleep on the sofa. Staring at her red lips that still glistened in the night, he felt like he couldn't resist the urge to taste those sweet treats. Moreover, he remembered the scene he had just witnessed earlier that afternoon. From his perspective, he saw his ex-lover as if she were being kissed by an evil man. That was what still made him angry to this day. Why was Edith still so easily fooled by evil men? If Edith ever found out the truth, she would surely cry again like she had five years ago.
"Did you know? I really hate seeing you chatting casually with that bastard," Callum whispered, slowly stroking his ex-girlfriend's head.
This time, Callum wanted to seize the golden opportunity. He kissed those red lips for a few seconds, slowly touching his ex-girlfriend's hand. He didn't care whether or not Cliff had stained those lips for five years. What mattered was that Edith's first kiss in her life had been in the hotel.
Edith suddenly woke from her dream world. Her eyes widened as the homeowner appeared before her. She quickly got up and massaged her temples.
"Sorry, I accidentally fell asleep here," Edith said nervously as she fixed her hair.
Callum smiled broadly, sitting next to his ex-girlfriend. "It's okay. You must be very tired looking after my son."
"No. In fact, your son is very good to me."
"Is it true?"
"Yes, I was even surprised at how easily he could obey me. He and I had only just met. But he seemed so comfortable with me."
"Is it because you were gentle with him?"
"Ever since I took him out for ice cream at my favorite ice cream shop, he's been very docile with me."
"Thankfully, it turns out you two have the same tastes. So you don't have to worry anymore. You can give him your favorite food.
Edith actually wanted to take this opportunity to ask Callum a question. According to Erdin, Callum used to eat ice cream with his wife at that ice cream shop.
"Callum, I actually wanted to ask you a question. Do you often go to Erdin's favorite ice cream shop with your wife?"
"Yes, I do love eating ice cream there with my wife. She really loves the chocolate vanilla ice cream." He let out a weak sigh. "Actually, every time I eat ice cream with Erdin, I'm reminded of my sweet wife."
"You must really miss her even now."
Deep down, Callum wanted to admit openly that his beloved wife was right in front of him. Although they weren't officially married yet, he already considered Edith his wife because she had given birth to his twins.
"I still miss her so much. I dream about her almost every night. I miss the smile she always gave me." Callum laughed awkwardly, scratching his head. "Sorry, I went a little overboard with my personal story."
"It's okay. I've always been a good listener whenever someone confides in me."
Callum folded his arms. "But, do you trust everyone so easily? If the person you've been confiding in turns out to be a bad person or a fraud, what would you do?"
"Maybe I won't forgive him. Because all this time, I've loved him sincerely." Edith lowered her head in resignation. "I haven't had many friends, so whenever someone is friendly to me, I can only hope they're a good person."
"I suggest you don't trust everyone so easily. Especially since you're a famous designer. Anyone who approaches you is probably just trying to take advantage of you."
As Callum gently lectured her, Edith felt more and more comfortable with each conversation. Even Cliff had never lectured her like this. Even though she and Callum had only just met, they had become close very easily.
"Callum, thank you for caring about me."
"Even though I once lectured you not to trust everyone easily, I hope you will listen to me."
"I will trust you."
Callum's eyes widened and his mouth dropped open. "Really? Why would you believe me?"
"Because I know you're a good person. Every time I talk to you, I somehow feel very comfortable."
"Me too. I feel very comfortable being friends with you. Because you look so much like my wife."
"Really? Does she also like to act recklessly?"
"She's very sweet and stubborn. I like to argue with her, but it never escalates into a full-blown fight. Even though I've offended her a few times, she always forgives me."
"I hope you can find your wife soon. Poor Erdin doesn't have a mother to love him."
"Then, what about you? Do you miss your husband too?"
