When Evelyn got the alert, she wasn't surprised. She knew what these shares signified and how much they mean to Nathan. There was no way he would have let them slip out of his grasp.
She didn't doubt for once that he would find a way. She let herself a small sigh. Now there was truly binding them anymore. Be it marriage, interests, money, or...feelings.
"That's that, then." she murmured softly.
She then dialed Selene's number. The other woman answered on the first ring.
"Eveie, how's everything going? Did Nathan manage to make the payment?"
Eveie hummed softly. She had told Selene about Chloe Vance's call that same night. There was no two ways about it. The whole things was just too bizarre.
Selene tsked.
"He's quite punctual. I thought he would try to wriggle his way out of it somehow"
