Evelyn looked back and saw it was Damon who blocked the handshake. When the men realized who it was, their dark faces brightened up in slightly fawning smiles.
"Mr. Blackwood, it's a pleasure."
Even Grayson was surprised. He invited Damon out of propriety but didn't expect the man would actually attend. He felt better about himself and his smile was almost blinding.
"Thank you for coming Mr Blackwood."
Damon shook hands with all three men before smiling faintly at Evelyn.
"Hello, Evie".
Evelyn raised an eyebrow. She didn't realize they were on nickname basis. She gave him a polite nod.
"Damon."
Grayson looked between them.
"Do you two know each other?"
Damon spoke in an airy voice.
"We go way back.'
Grayson's eyes flashed and he laughed softly, pulling the other men away.
"Then I'll give you two time to catch up."
