The long day finally came to an end.
Cassandra's master bedroom in the penthouse was dark when she arrived, only the city lights filtering through the large windows was providing little illumination.
She stood in the entryway for a moment, not bothering to turn on the lights, just breathing in the silence.
Her entire body ached.
Not physically- the wolfsbane had worked its way out of her system hours ago. But there was a different kind of exhaustion settling into her bones.
The kind that came from a day of impossible choices and no good options.
She had been in a foul mood since she had left the office.
"Damn it all to hell!" She cussed as she
kicked off her heels, leaving them by the door, and walked barefoot across the cool floor to deep inside thr bedroom.
As she moved through the room, her mind kept circling back to the same thing.
The order she had given Lawrence:
"Find someone. Someone expendable. Someone whose death will satisfy Alpha Dominic."
