Cherreads

Chapter 15 - The Chaos That Happened

Before the cake entered his mouth, Evelyne immediately grabbed Victoria's wrist and pulled her away. This surprised the model so much that the fork she was holding fell to the floor.

There was an instant silence between them, and even Tristan was surprised by Evelyne's sudden action.

Realizing what she had just done, she immediately pulled her hand away.

"I'm sorry, Ms. Victoria! I didn't mean to do that. It's just that..." she said in a slightly panicked tone. But she tried to remain calm.

"It's okay. I'm just a little shocked that you grabbed my wrist," replied Victoria.

Tristan immediately checked his fiancée's wrist, which was slightly red from Evelyne suddenly grabbing and pulling it.

"Evelyne, what are you doing?! Can't you see that your actions have made Victoria's wrist red like this?" he asked, somewhat sternly because he was annoyed.

Victoria tried to calm him down, but he refused and demanded an answer from his ex wife. This attracted the attention of the people around them.

At first, Tristan thought that Evelyne must be jealous because Victoria intended to feed him. Especially since the two of them had been chatting the whole time, as if ignoring her presence.

However, Evelyne said that the cake Victoria wanted to feed Tristan had cherry jam and slices in it. And she clearly remembered that he was allergic to cherries.

"That's why I stopped her. Maybe I do the wrong way, but it was the fastest way for me to stop her before you ate it," she explained.

"Really? I didn't know Tristan was allergic to cherries. He never mentioned it to me," Victoria said, feeling guilty for nearly endangering her fiancé's life.

Hearing the explanation, the tension slowly eased and Tristan softened a little. It turned out that Evelyne still remembered that he was allergic to cherries and that every time he accidently ate them, it would make Tristan short of breath. He had even been rushed to the hospital because of his allergy.

She had just saved his life, but he was scolding her.

Now she was the center of attention after what she had just done. "Excuse me for a moment. I have to go to the bathroom."

"Evelyne! Evelyne wait!" called Tristan, intending to chase after her.

However, the launch event was about to begin, and he couldn't miss it. In the end, Victoria offered to chase after Evelyne to the bathroom and asked Tristan to stay there.

"I'll go after her. Besides, you can't go into the women's bathroom. Stay here, I'll come back with her," said the woman, then quickly left the room.

Although she looked worried, at the same time she also felt surprised. How could Evelyne know that Tristan was allergic to cherries? Even she, his fiancée, didn't know that.

'In the two years I've known Tristan, I never knew he was allergic to cherries. He never even told me. But how could she know?' she thought at that moment.

She suspected that Evelyne and Tristan had known each other for a long time, especially when Edna came home in a panic and mentioned the name "Evelyne."

'Is the Evelyne she meant the same Evelyne who is Tristan's current secretary?' That's what she thought at that moment.

When she arrived at the restroom, she didn't see Evelyne there. But she saw one of the bathroom stalls closed.

Knock knock

"Evelyne, are you in there?" she called out to make sure.

"Yes, I'm here. What's wrong? I'll be back in the hall in a moment," Evelyne replied, trying not to sound sad.

She wasn't sad because Tristan had yelled at her. She was angry at herself for still caring about that man. But if she didn't, his life would be in danger.

"It's okay, take your time. I just want to say thank you for reminding me. I almost endangered Tristan's life because of my ignorance. As for him getting angry at you, I also apologize on his behalf," said Victoria.

Evelyne, who heard all of this, fell silent. It wasn't Victoria's fault, but Tristan's for never telling her about his allergy all this time.

Plus, not many people would notice the pieces of fresh cherries in the jam on the cake.

She opened the toilet stall door and found Victoria standing in front of her.

"It's not your fault. You didn't know anything about it, and I'm sorry for scaring you like that," said Evelyne.

"It's okay. Everyone makes mistakes, including me!"

They both smiled at each other. Victoria smoothed Evelyne's slightly messy hair. "That's better. Now let's go back to the banquet hall. Tristan must need you."

She gently pulled Evelyne's hand and they returned to the event hall where the host was explaining the AI system that he and his team were working on.

When they returned, Tristan immediately turned to look at her, but Evelyne quickly turned her face away, as if she didn't want to see him at that moment. The man knew it was his fault for snapping at her, but he couldn't do anything about it and thought he should focus on what was in front of him now.

At 10:30 p.m., the banquet finally ended and the guests began to leave the hotel.

Evelyne intended to call a taxi to take her home because it was already very late at night.

As she was in the hotel lobby, a man walked up to her and called her name. "Evelyne."

She turned around, only to find Daniel standing behind her.

"Daniel, what are you doing here?" she asked.

"What am I doing? Of course, I'm attending the banquet that invited me, just like you," he replied with a chuckle.

That was when she remembered that Daniel's company worked in security systems, and that AI systems would definitely be very useful for that.

"You look very beautiful tonight. That dress makes you look like a princess of the night," he complimented her.

She smiled softly upon hearing the compliment. "Thank you. You also look handsome in that blue suit."

They chatted as they walked away from the hotel, where Daniel offered to drive her home.

The man couldn't let Evelyne go home alone so late at night.

At the same time, Tristan, who was looking for her, saw Evelyne and Daniel together from a distance. He had intended to apologize for what he had done, but seeing them together made him feel angry again.

Not long after, Victoria caught up and found her fiancé standing still, looking at his secretary with a man she didn't know.

She could tell that his gaze at that moment was very different from usual. It looked like a man who was angry to see his property being touched by someone else.

'What exactly is your relationship with her, Tristan?'
