"Can you give me some of your time? We need to talk."
To talk?
What could Xiao Bo possibly need to talk about?
My head throbbed, but a cruel amusement stirred in my gut. This was too good to pass up.
"Fine," I said, a cold smile tugging at the corner of my lips. "But not here."
I walked toward the cafe across the street, ignoring the worried look on his face. The waiters greeted me with a large beam as they saw me.
We settled into a small, secluded booth in the back. I didn't order. I just sat there, my hands clasped on the table, watching him. The waiter brought a glass of ice water, which I dismissed with a wave of my hand.
"A little later, dear." I muttered, the waiter which was a young boy probably still in a college brushed and scurried away.
I chuckled and focused my attention on Xiao Bo, with a scowl on my face.
Xiao Bo nervously ran a hand through his hair and then began to talk, a torrent of desperate words pouring out.
"I am so sorry, Zhen Yi," he started, his voice a low, urgent murmur, reverberating with panic. "I never should have grabbed you—not now, not before. You have to believe me, Zhen Rui convinced me you hated me! She said you were trying to ruin my life, and that she… she was protecting me. She was so beautiful, and I was weak, I confess it! I didn't think sleeping with her after we broke up would be an issue. Please, I swear, I never wanted to hurt you this badly."
What…?
What was he even saying? My head felt a little dizzy, but I at least got what he was saying. But it doesn't change how much he made me feel disgusted.
I watched him, my expression unreadable. His face was pale, his eyes wide with genuine fear. He was a spineless coward, they deserved each other.
Zhen Rui got something right though, I had spent all my relationship before trying to cater to this man needs because of my so called love.
I gave him everything ? And what did he do, he slept with my sister, and his reason was just this?
That she protect you?
As if he wasn't sleeping with her way before we started having issues.
Falling right into Zhen Rui's plan.
The revelation didn't make me angry; it made me feel nothing at all. He had been a pawn, and now he was trying to make up for it .
He was right. Zhen Rui was the real snake here.
He reached across the table, his hand trembling as he tried to take mine. "Please, Zhen Yi. Let's forget about this. Tell your husband to forgive me, all my investments are about to go down the drain because of his anger. I will come back to you, even willing to be your man outside your marriage, just tell him to let go of our business."
My eyes widened, my jaws clenched with unrestrained rage. He had poured out his apology, but his tongue was still vile. And he thinks I want him back? Over my dead body.
I had listened. Now it was my turn.
My eyes landed on the glass of ice-cold water on the table. A cold smile stretched across my lips. I lifted the glass and poured the entire contents right over his head.
"This should wake you up from your Delulu." I clapped my hands, standing to my feet.
The water dripped down his face and ran in streams down his shirt. He froze, his mouth agape.
I calmly placed the empty glass on the table. He stood up, his face contorted in rage.
I scoffed. "A pathetic excuse for a human." I rolled my eyes and walked toward the counter, placing an emergency order. A waiter handed me a donut and a cup of hot coffee.
The scent of milk and coffee beans wafted into my nose, invigorating my sore muscles.
As I took my first sip, I glanced at Xiao Bo who was marching toward me, a threatening glint in his eyes.
He ruined my little break.
Once I was outside, I was about to cross the pedestrian when I suddenly felt a strong grip on my arm pulling me back.
I turned, faced Xiao Bo's rage filled glare. His jaws clenched and his grip tight, I winced.
"Let go of my hand, Xiao Bo." I gritted in annoyance.
"You bitch!" He snarled.
My heart hammered, remembering the times he would slap and beat me for something I had never done, my eyes narrowed into a hard glare. My lips pressed into a thin line.
In a flash, my legs connected with a solid, hard object that made him groan in pain, doubled over, his eyes widening in shock and horror.
Let's say, I 'Accidentally' hit him in the balls.
I didn't wait for him to recover. I arranged myself and walked away, my heels clicking loudly against the pavement as I sprinted to the office building.
I walked past the shocked onlookers, my heart pounding in my chest. I didn't stop until I reached the elevator, my breath ragged and my face flushed from a mix of exhaustion and joy.
The staffs looked at me as if they had just seen a ghost and my cheeks only flushed harder from embarrassment.
I slammed the button for my floor. He deserves it though, this was something I should have done since before I married Yichen.
The bastard.
I growled, the heated rage bubbling up once again. Once the elevator opened with a ding.
I ran to my office and slammed the door shut, locking it with a loud click. Good thing that Jing Xu wasn't back.
It would have been hectic.
I leaned against the door, my chest heaving, a laugh bubbling up from my throat. That was so satisfying!
"That was quite the scene, Mo Yi."
My eyes snapped open. I hadn't noticed. The man was sitting on my couch, his long legs crossed, watching me with a look of pure amusement.
"What are you doing here, Yichen?" I gasped.
He simply smiled, a rare, breathtaking sight. "I was waiting for my wife to return."
