"I was waiting for my wife to return." He stood up, his height making the large office feel small. "I hope you got that out of your system. You look like you've been fighting for your life."
I ignored his teasing. "You were here the whole time? You saw what I did?" I asked, my voice laced with disbelief.
It must have been embarrassing to him too.
He chuckled, a low, rumbling sound that vibrated through the room. "I saw everything, and I must say, your aim is surprisingly good. But why did you wait so long to come back? That man was not worth your time."
My cheeks flushed in vivid embarrassment. He was just watching everything, what would he be thinking?
"I don't know why you are here, Yichen. I am busy. You shouldn't have come." I snapped, my eyes glaring at him, I walked to my desk, sitting down and pulling out some documents from a drawer, pretending to be engrossed with work.
Even though my whole self was conscious of him in an annoying way.
