Chapter 32 - CHAPTER 32: THE SAWYERS FAMILY - STEPMOTHER

Letwin looked nervously as the cars came to a halt. Her stepdaughter was sitting inside one of those cars, and although she had seen this several times, it still felt surreal that the little girl she raised had become such a bigshot.

Every time she feels very grateful that she didn't mistreat Sonia when she got remarried into the family. If she had mistreated her, who knew where she and her children would be?

Talking about children, she couldn't help but think of her youngest, and she became even more nervous.

She didn't want the children to have a rift at all. Felinda was her youngest, and she was partial to her. After all, the little girl was her last child, and she looked more like her. Her heart always sways towards her. That couldn't be helped, but that didn't mean that she didn't love the other children.

Now comes the problem, her beloved just had to piss off the breadwinner of the family. Without Sonia, could their family live worry-free like now?

Although she and her husband were running a restaurant and doing well. Without Sonia's backing, would they even do well?

Sonia sent her younger siblings to school, and amongst them, Felinda was the most spoiled and yet because of her mouth, all the privileges were taken away. Instead of being remorseful, Felinda still believed that she was in the right, and it seems that this time, Sonia was very serious.

She just hoped that she would be able to meditate between the two and let the sisters embrace each other and forget about the past.

Unknowingly, Letwin even forgot that Sonia had just got remarried. Her thoughts were filled with her youngest daughter's matters.

She watched with a nervous smile as Sonia alighted from the car.

Seeing her wearing that dark pink dress, her mind lit up as she recalled what day it was.

Her stepdaughter's OCD wasn't something that could be treated, or was it because she didn't want to treat it?

Anyway, she looked very good in anything that she wore. Letwin couldn't help but feel envious of Sonia's mother. Sonia looked like her mother than her father. All the good things were brought by her biological mother. A part of her couldn't help but feel reluctant, but that reluctance was quickly washed away when she heard Sonia's voice calling out to her.

"Mother! Why are you waiting outside? What if you get a chill?"

Letwin smiled as she remembered that she was the one the child called mother and felt concern for. As for feeling sour about Sonia's biological mother, the woman was long dead and gone. There was no point in wasting her time feeling sour.

Hearing the concern in Sonia's voice, Letwin was even more at ease that she truly cared for this child wholeheartedly.

When it comes to showing filial piety, among her children, Sonia was the best.

"Hehe, I haven't been out for a long time. How can I not welcome you?" she responded, teasing in her voice as her eyes squinted, the wrinkles at the corners of her eyes deepening.

Sonia smiled at her stepmother, who was unlike the stepmothers in fairy tales. She was truly blessed to have met such a wonderful stepmother. She gave her a great childhood and didn't treat her differently when she had her own children.

Because of her stepmother, she wasn't bothered about becoming a stepmother as well, but who could have foreseen that her third ex-husband would end up being snatched by others? Which also caused the stepchildren she had pampered to be taken as well?

Now she could only hope to have her own children to raise. If that can't be done, then adopt from a young age to be safe. Adopting older children with memories was tricky. She didn't want to raise an ungrateful wolf that would come to bite her in the ass in the future.

Sonia beamed at her stepmother and helplessly shook her head, "What can I do to you when you are like that?"

Letwin laughed at that response as she opened her arms. "Then just let me be, bah!"

As Sonia hugged the older woman, she chuckled as she said, "Who made me spoil you?"

The mother and daughter pair teased each other back and forth in harmony and went into the villa together.

"I hope that you came hungry!"

"Um, I didn't even eat a single snack. I just came directly after taking a shower."

Letwin beamed when she heard that, but then her expression dulled as she recalled something that she had forgotten.

She stopped in her tracks, and that forced Sonia to stop as well.

Letwin looked at Sonia and asked cautiously, "Dear, where is your husband?" recalling that she hadn't asked about him from the moment Sonia arrived.

Thinking about her own children, she had forgotten that Sonia did it again.

Sonia's lips turned upward when she heard that. She patted Letwin's hand as she started walking, forcing Letwin to catch up as she responded, "I left him at home. He had just moved in. I will bring him to see you another day after he settles in," her tone filled with ease.

Letwin heaved a sigh of relief when she heard that. She didn't know who this new husband was and what he was like.

It would be better if both sides were given time to prepare. Besides, tonight wasn't the best time to meet the new son-in-law. With the two sisters fighting. Who knows what kind of terrible words might be uttered by them?

Such fights were better not seen by others lest they make fun of their family's affairs.

"Okay, just tell me in advance and I will prepare a feast," she readily said, already thinking about dishes to prepare.

Sonia smiled at that and hummed in response before changing the topic, which Letwin answered very quickly.

The two of them made their way to the living room, where from a distance, Sonia spotted her old father, who was seated on the sofa while watching the news.

As for her rebellious younger sister, she was nowhere to be seen.

Where was that little brat?
