Sonia reached out to the young man and held his hand, her gaze fixated on him and looking a bit stern.
"Liam, I will never give up on you as long as your heart remain steadfast. Since we are already having this kind of talk, then let's have a heart-to-heart talk! That way, we can know each other better. What do you think?"
Liam looked at his older wife who had been nothing but completely open with him from the second they met and smiled relievedly, "Sure, I would love that," what better way to know each other than this?
With him on the board, Sonia didn't waste any second but went straight at it.
"As you know, just like the rest of the world, I have been married three times before this marriage and got divorced. In every marriage, I have given my all, and hoped for the best, and yet it never worked out. I don't really blame them for what happened. After all, the fault might really be with me," she said calmly, without any ounce of self-deprecation. "I believe in destiny and if we weren't fated, then it was never meant to be. Just like how I had hope in those three marriages, the same is true for this time."
"You might think that simply because I had you sign a contract, I don't take this marriage seriously. I am never one to play, when it comes to emotions. So, I hope that just like how I will put effort into this marriage, you will do the same.
I am not a hard person to be with. As long as you love me and care for me, we can love happily as a family. But if your heart is not on me, then I will not hesitate to cut ties with you. I would rather be single, than be tied to a man whose heart is not on me," she said seriously as she looked at him.
Although the prenuptial agreement vividly stated that he wasn't allowed to leave her no matter what, forcing things was never her kind of thing. That's why in those three marriages, she didn't play hard to get and divorced them.
She will just be hurting herself if she tries to act tough.
Although she was hopeful that Liam was the guy she wronged in her previous life and would be with her forever, however long that last. No one knows what destiny has in store. Anything might happen and as much as she didn't want to see that, she could only be ready and prepare for anything to come.
Liam felt his heart squeezed as he listened to her, but didn't interrupt her and let her continue to speak. Some things were better laid out in the open than remain hidden.
"I will not ask you for much, Liam but when you are with me, just have me in your eyes. As my husband, I expect you to play your husband duties. I didn't marry a man so that he could just take space. As my husband, like I mentioned in the agreement, you are supposed to sleep with me," with a mischievous smile on her face, she directly mentioned about that matter and Liam's face flushed.
How could she say that openly? But Sonia was just starting.
"We may not sleep together every day, in the same bed but when I want you, Liam, you need to come to me. I know that you may feel offended but I will never hide what I want from you. You are my husband and I don't expect myself to go around on tiptoes. I expect the same from you. Don't bottle it in but tell me when you have issues or you want something. If I don't have time, I will make sure that I find some. As partners, we need to act like one. I don't want us to live like strangers. Do you get what I am saying?"
Liam shyly nodded, his heart pounding in excitement. Although he was shy because of her directness but he loved what she was saying.
Knowing all that, he wouldn't have to worry about to voice out his opinions in the future. he was a bit afraid that he might offend her but now, that concern was thrown out of the window.
"I do get it and I will do my best to express myself," he answered firmly as he looked at her determinately and she beamed at him.
'Wow!' he exclaimed inwardly, getting blinded by that smile.
Sonia wasn't someone who smiled all the time but when she did, it was as if a halo was shining brightly behind her.
"Now that I have laid out some basic things, what do you want to know about me? I will do my best to answer you," Sonia gave the floor to him.
Liam looked at Sonia, licking his bottom lip as several questions came to him.
Thinking that he might not have such free time like that in the future to ask her, since she was busy and he would be busy as well, he decided to go at it and be bold.
"Um, you really don't mind that I might die?" he asked quaveringly, thinking about how fate was cruel.
That matter had been bothering him. Knowing that he has less than four months to be with her and that he might die any moment, his heart ached but he tried to remain positive.
Sonia's expression turned gloomy the moment she heard that. She clenched her jaws as she closed her eyes and Liam stiffened, regret washing over him. Why did he ask such a question?
Unfortunately, it was too late to cry over spilt milk. He could only watch silently as Sonia's big chest heaved up and down as she took deep breaths before she opened her eyes and looked at him.
"Don't you ever say that again! You won't die, and I won't let you. So just live every second without any stress. Can you do that for me?" she said domineering with gritted teeth, her hold on his hands tightening. It took Liam's strong will not to yelp because of the pain but his heart felt very sweet knowing how much she cares deeply about him. That was all the answer that he wanted to hear from her.
He nodded his head, a shallow smile on his face and to change this terrifying tension in the air, he hurriedly asked another question, "Wife, can I publicize our marriage?"
