CHAPTER 8

I kept on driving, hoping to come across a store and market soon.

A few hours passed, and I was pretty tired and my wrists hurt like crazy. "Hey, Christian, wanna take over for a while?" He looked at me and sighed.

"Fine..." So I pulled over, and we both switched seats. I leaned back in my seat and closed my eyes. I almost fell asleep when I heard a loud thud from the back of the car. We all turned around and saw a single zombie.

"Speed up," I said calmly. He nodded, speeding up slightly. We lost the zombie, but I was already falling fast asleep. Everyone stayed quiet, and Christian just stayed silent.

Third person POV:

Around a few more hours, they happened to pass by a SUPER MARKET. Ruby was listening to a downloaded Spotify playlist, looking out the window, zoned out, and didn't notice. Although, luckily Christian happened to notice, and stopped the car dead in its tracks. He tapped Perry—no, shitty face's shoulder, and since Perry was a light sleeper, she could wake up pretty easily.

"What...?" She asked in her groggy, sleepy voice.

"We found a super market. We need to go and get supplies," said Christian.

"Oh... alright," said Perry calmly. She sat up straight in her seat and rubbed her eyes lightly. Nicole had already told Ruby, since she was in her own world. Perry, still half asleep, didn't realize she had been staring straight into Christian's gaze, even though Christian didn't tear the eye contact.

"What?" asked Christian.

Perry snapped out of it and looked at Christian.

"Nothing... let's go now..." Nicole and Ruby were listening in, and they all nodded. They took one weapon each and exited the car quietly.

They cautiously approached the super market and entered inside. It was silent, with no noises except their footsteps. There were multiple sections like canned food, a whole section for instant ramen and ramen itself, a camping section, vegetables, fruits, and more.

"We need bags... they should be at the camping section. Let's split up," said Perry.

First person POV (Perry):

Me and Ruby went together, and Nicole and Christian together. Me and Ruby went to get the bags, while Nicole and Christian got a shopping cart and rather loudly strolled it around the sections searching for food... I guess.

"Let's go," I whispered to her. She nodded, and we lowered our bodies, started walking with a flashlight. We walked through the aisles and found the camping section in one corner of the market.

Although we safely got four bags, once we were returning to Nicole and Christian, we heard... a scream? Me and Ruby looked at each other and started walking a bit faster and cautiously closer to the scream. With common sense, we thought—no, knew—it was them.

Once we reached a nearby aisle to where the scream came from, we saw... oh thank god. For a second, that scared me to fu—fricking death.

It was a zombie with Nicole's jacket on it, and I thought it was him, but he stood in front of us as we stared down the zombie.

"Are you guys okay?" Ruby asked, looking worrisomely at both of them.

Nicole nodded.

"I'm fine," said Christian.

We moved around, still looking for a few things on our shopping list, which happened to be kind of long...

Shopping list:

[v] food

[v] water

[v] batteries for flashlight

[v] new weapons

[v] camera

[v] new cleaner clothes

[v] shoes

This shopping list applied to all four of us, except we'd bare with one camera. That might not apply to the word 'long,' but what made it long was we each had a personal shopping list of the things we wanted. For example, my list is:

My shopping list:

anything useful for survival.

All of us agreed, 5 maximum and 2 minimum unless we didn't want anything. We decided to split up, although it wasn't the best idea. We all knew how to best the zombies, and just in case, Nicole and Ruby went to get a helmet from another section. Me and Christian waited at the section we were at, and I leaned against some shelf-like thing at the start of an aisle.

Damn, those two are taking long. I guess they don't know their way around supermarkets. Me and Christian waited, and waited... alright, I'm overreacting, I admit, it's only been 3 minutes. Christian's gaze was from looking at the aisle in front to me. I could feel his gaze on me from time to time while trying to hide it. I admit, he's weird and all, but it's come to the point where I can't care who I'm stuck with.

This... situation is quite sudden, and I took this peaceful few minutes to think about it, as we were always moving, had almost no time to think around and stay still.

...As about another 2 minutes passed, I felt Christian's eyes on me for longer than needed, and before he could say anything about it, once he realized I realized, I spoke up.

"What are you looking at me for?" I spoke with slight coldness.

He gave a shrug, not saying a single word.

A few more minutes (about 5 minutes) passed, and through the aisle came Ruby and Nicole with four helmets in a shopping cart. Once they approached us, we put on the helmets and before heading to our own directions, we added some food and water to the bags. But... before we could set off, a bunch of zombies broke through the glass door at the front and were slowly approaching us...
