CHAPTER 7

A few 10 minutes pass, and we pass a gas station about half a mile away… but then we notice the gas on the car...

I almost immediately stopped the car, and hit the brakes. "What's wrong?" Nicole asked me, looking at me.

"We need to turn back... almost outta gas..." I replied, taking a U-turn back. It took about 5 minutes to reach back to the gas station, and once we pulled up to inside the station, it was full of zombies. Oh boy.

A few heard the car, and started banging on the window, and the window slightly cracked. Ruby was the most shook, trying not to scream in fear.

"AH—" I covered her mouth with my hand and hushed her. As we stayed completely quiet, the zombies wandered away, but at the most 15 feet, which made it hard to exit the car.

"Alright... I'll go first with someone, who'll come with me?" As I turned around, I made eye contact with Christian as he was already looking at me… but I looked at the two in the back and waited for a reply.

"I c-can go..." Ruby said. I nodded and slowly and quietly opened the car door. I stepped out and approached the machine thing to fill in the car. But... what we didn't know was, we needed a credit card... I looked around for a second, before spotting a dead-looking guy in a chair, with clearly a credit card in his shirt pocket.

Ruby, behind me, cautiously followed behind me and made sure I was unharmed. I managed to approach the guy without making any noise and snatched his credit card out of the pocket.

Once we returned to the machine, it was in all Korean, but luckily Ruby translated it, and it had specific types of gases and a payment method. We chose credit card, but then the machine started talking, asking what type of payment method. It was loud and clear, and as said, the zombies started running quickly towards us. We both ran away, in circles around the car that displayed in the middle of the drive-thru gas station.

"Damn it." I said, still running around in circles, but once I got dizzy, I stopped and ran to the car window and knocked on it, indicating to let me and Ruby inside. They opened the door and let us in. Before I could say anything, I had to pant and catch my breath.

"Thanks... guys..." Ruby said, settling in the back.

"Well... the two of you should try, and if you can't do it, we'll go back again." said Ruby, as the two nodded and stepped quietly out the car door and closed it. Me and Ruby watched them, ready anytime to step in if they get caught. They stepped out. Christian went to add the payment method thing in the loud-ass machine, while Nicole went to the other side to distract the zombies by throwing some metal buckets, and some things that happened to be at the side of the station.

But, as the machine kept talking, and Nicole ran out of things to throw, they both were doomed. A zombie came straight at Nicole from the back, and just barely, I managed to roll down the window and shout, "NICOLE, BEHIND YOU!" I shouted and rolled down the window, hoping no zombies would approach the car.

And... I wish the zombies would've ignored Nicole and come straight to me, but that wasn't the case. Nicole ran all around the gas station but couldn't lose the zombie, and when I mean everywhere, even the car wash that happened to be in the gas station at the side.

Ah... as for Christian—HE WAS ALSO BEING CHASED!? Damn these two... they need to work on those so-called 'skills.' I looked outside one more time, and Nicole was resisting against a zombie on top of him, and for Christian, he was... say probably trying to act tough... but whimpering and running away in fear. Kind of amusing if you ask m—never mind, that's not the point. I gave Ruby a look, and she nodded. So we both quietly opened the car door and closed it quietly.

We then, I mean, well, I went to help Christian, and Ruby confidently to Nicole. Although, before I could even catch one ounce of Christian's attention, I swear I ran twenty laps around the whole ass station.

"CHRIS... T-TAN..." I shouted at him, as I stopped running, panting. He was on the verge of falling, I could tell. Once they were coming closer to me, I grabbed a nearby crutch and managed to push the zombie away and stop Christian. Once he stopped, he leaned against the car, and without fully catching his breath, spoke, "T-thanks, shi... shitty... face..."

Just then, Ruby and Nicole came up to us, and Nicole smiled a smile mixed with awkwardness and nervousness.

"Let's not waste anymore time and get the gas... shall we?" Nicole stated, still catching his breath. We all agreed, and we went up to the machine. I worked it out while the others stood on guard to protect me until I finished up.

Once I did, only then did we realize, "Shit... I have to hold it all the way through until it fills all the way up." All of them looked at me with a look that had "You kidding me right now?" written all over it.

"What? I'm not joking." I said, looking at them. They looked back and sighed.

"...Just hurry up," Christian said, and I did... even though I didn't do anything.

Once I finished after a minute or two, we returned back in the car.

"Fu- that was tiring... hey, blondie, hand me some water, will ya?" asked Christian, obviously to Ruby.

"Okay..." Ruby searched for the food and water bag but couldn't find it.

"Hey, Nicole... where's the food and water supply bag?" Ruby glanced at Nicole with a slightly worried expression.

"Oh, it should be here—... WHERE IS IT!?" shouted Nicole.

"Wait, what? Nicole, where is it? I'm being serious." I said, looking at him through the mirror at the top. He checked the back of the car by bending to the back and checking. Absolutely nothing there.

"It's not... here..." He said, looking at me through the mirror.

"Dang... we probably left it in the other car..." Christian stated, and we all were pretty damn thirsty after that run... which made it worse.

"Well, hang in there, guys. We'll stop at the next convenience store or supermarket."

They all silently nodded, and I kept on driving, hoping to come across a store and market soon.
