CHAPTER 10

but anyways, Nathan just scoffed and didn't say anymore. He and Emily walked out the door, just to be. . .

heard by a crowd of zombies. And for all the people who were watching them from inside (including me), we knew it wouldn't end well. But for some odd reason, the others didn't want to let them back in when the poor duo were already banging hard on the door, scared as hell.

"Shouldn't we let them in? They might not make it otherwise," I spoke up, feeling a little scared for the both of them now. But... obviously, Millie had other plans.

"They'll be fine—" but oddly enough, she was interrupted by a loud thud right outside the door.

We all peeked through a window, taking turns standing on a high chair to peek through. I went first, and what I saw... I don't even know how to explain. It was bloody. Pure gore. There was blood everywhere, and a part of Nathan's neck was gone, and all the zombies surrounded him, starting to gnaw on his body everywhere, no place to spare.

As for Emily, I didn't see her around and looked all around the supermarket, scanning for her. But oddly enough, she was on the ground, and it looked like she fainted because of blood loss. I stepped down and sighed.

"Just take a look," I said almost coldly, leaning on a wall, waiting for them to see the horrid scene. After me, Ruby went, and she started shaking. Well, I honestly wouldn't blame her; it was quite the scene.

All four of us gave each other a look, somehow managing telepathy (don't ask). We all knew that if two of us volunteered to go out, and if we were in danger, they most likely wouldn't care. My point exactly? Well, if we got in a sticky situation, we'd be dead as hell. And I swear, I'm not over-exaggerating.

Well, the only option now was to discuss and see our options. I first walked over to Ruby and dragged her over to where Nicole and Christian were.

"Well? What should we do now?" asked Christian. We all didn't say anything for a moment before Nicole spoke up.

"Maybe if we try to escape together? Like team up... get the things we need and trash out of here?" Nicole whispered softly. I seemed to agree with the idea, so did Ruby and Christian. Since we all agreed, and basically none of us had better ideas, it was the best plan we could currently come up with.

But before I had finished zoning out, I hadn't realized that all three had a finger on their nose... which meant only one thing.

I had to lead them through. I sighed, while Christian had a teasing look on his face, clearly mocking me and making fun of me.

"Oh shut up, dude, you would've lost if I was paying attention," I said, crossing my arms with an angry face. But there wasn't much time, and if we were to launch the plan, it should be now. I walked up to one of them, I think her name was Alice? I walked up to her and spoke up.

"Hey... uh, me and the other three are gonna go attempt to get the supplies, so... we're going now." Alice, including the other two, nodded as I walked back to Ruby, Christian, and Nicole, who were getting ready. They were putting on gloves and an extra thick layer of clothing.

I did the same, and once we were finished, and all ready, I opened the door, only to see a few zombies about 30 feet in front of us behind a counter. Luckily, though zombies don't have eyesight, or if they do, it's very poor. We tiptoed as we split up: me and Christian, Nicole and Ruby, since Ruby insisted on going with Nicole. And once again, I was stuck with that dumb idiot. We were heading to the food and clothing aisles, while Nicole and Ruby headed to the water and bags aisle.

"Oi, we have to go get the food first, idiot," I said coldly, aggressively tugging his shirt the right way. Christian turned to me like I was some dumbass and pointed at the sign, which also baffled Christian when he saw it. It read, "Women's Clothing."

"What the hell was your brain thinking!? Dumbass, we're supposed to go that way!" I whispered loudly into Christian's ear.

"I thought I was going the right way, okay?!" he screamed back loudly into my ear.

"Well, you weren't, let's turn around already." I took the back of his shirt and dragged him back in the right direction.

Meanwhile, Ruby and Nicole:

Third Person POV:

Nicole and Ruby were first making their way to the drinks section before making their way to the bags section.

"Let's get some apple juice, right? Who doesn't love apple juice?" Ruby said, picking out three whole bottles of apple juice into a bag. Nicole, in the aisle in front of her, was getting some soft drinks, while Ruby gathered juice and water. Nicole and Ruby would occasionally make eye contact as they could see through the tiny holes in the shelves.

"I wonder how Christian and Perry are doing..." said Nicole.

"They aren't the best together after all," Ruby said, which was far more than true. Perry and Christian were almost not compatible even one percent. They almost can't go five minutes without having an argument.

Anyways, Ruby and Nicole, on the other hand, were pretty compatible. They were both pretty agreeable (unlike some other two), and they both were nice to each other and didn't despise the other. Although they did have somewhat disagreeable traits, they both worked together pretty well (unlike some other two). Anyways, they both got the drinks, filled up a bag, and made their way to another section, just casually waiting for the other half of their group.

Meanwhile, back with Christian and Perry:

Perry POV:

"Christian, stop it, we have to hurry," I said, crossing my arms and looking at him with a cross look.

"What? I'm hungry. I don't know how you aren't." I sighed and snatched the bag of chips from him and ate some.

"I am, but we don't have time for this."

"Whatever..." Christian stood up from the ground where he was sitting and started taking some snacks and adding them to the shopping cart.

"Let's hurry," I said, in the aisle in front of Christian. He nodded and walked over to me with the shopping cart. I put some food in, and we walked around to the clothes section as we finished picking out our food.

The clothes section was a bit far away, more near the exit of the supermarket. Not near, literally in front of the exit. We walked around to finally see the clothes aisle. Christian and I parted to the men's and women's sections. I obviously went to women's and Christian to men's. Since the men's and women's sections were right next to each other, we could see each other roaming around, which in this case was a good way of assuring Christian didn't get dragged out by some horde of zombies.

I saw some cute clothes for Ruby, and some that would fit her aesthetic perfectly. I took some for her and me. I grabbed a bit too much, and since all our shoes were also pretty wrecked, I went to a section with shoes and picked out some there. I honestly don't know how Ruby managed to cope with heels the whole time. I picked out some shoes that'd be good for running specifically, and just then, did I realize Christian had taken the cart with him, so I had to wait until he got back.

But, something I realized was in the slight distance: some horde of zombies, or their pairs, were approaching surprisingly fast. And the thing was, they were coming from all three directions except the exit. The only option, if they closed in, would be to exit the store. That which concerned me, so I went to go look for Christian.

I roamed and roamed through the men's aisle but couldn't find him anywhere. I thought that he'd left, and I turned around only to bump into... Christian? Yep. What an idiot. But there was no time; I had to warn him.

"Hey, we should probably get out of here, and fast. Those pairs of zombies are approaching pretty damn fast." I pointed out to Christian, but he seemed to scoff it off.

"We can just beat them u—" I flicked his forehead.

"Uh, no we can't. There's too much. And it'll only attract more if we make a ruckus."

But, something I only realized as I looked up: the zombies had already closed in pretty much everywhere except the exit. All of them, approximately 20 feet in front of us. I took Christian's hand and dragged him over to a rack where some shoes were, and hid behind it. I stared him dead in the eyes and spoke.

"Look, there's no time to argue. We might die, and there's no time to spare, got it, dumbass?"

He nodded and actually had the common sense to realize this was serious. As the zombies were only 10 feet away, we both turned to the exit before I questioned one thing.

What about Ruby and Nicole?
