CHAPTER 13
2:13pm. It's been around 7 minutes... and I think Ruby passed out.We saw a creature.. But luckily not too much, as all the zombies covered it.. Nonetheless, it was terrifying as hell. I'm almost still completely frozen in place. it was definitely not a human... they still haven't returned after half an hour... where the hell are Nicole and Christian?
it's already been another... I don't know, it feels like it's been an eternity. I think it's only been around another 5 minutes when I heard the supermarket automatic door open. my eyes slightly widened, as I very, very slightly stood up from my crouching position with shaky legs and soft knees, as I peeked at the direction of the door.
my whole world just left out of relief. The two exit the supermarket, making their way over to the car.
i turned my gaze over to ruby who had fainted, but slightly was opening her eyes and adjusting them to the light. she sat down neatly on the passenger seat, rubbing her eyes.
"what.. happened? And where's Nicole and Christian? Are they back?" she asked in a deep sleepy voice. She really has a gentle heart. Even though she looked sleepy as hell, at first she was worried about the two. I smiled warmly, and pointed out the front window, where she followed the direction where my finger pointed at. her entire face instantly lit up when she saw the two.
she seemed to be looking at Nicole especially... i let her be though, and just opened the door as Christian and Nicole entered. Christian had to come to the back seat with me since Nicole was gonna drive. "i didn't know you could drive" i said, smirking slightly poking the back of his head in a teasing way.
"Oh come on, don't be like that. you knew." he stated giving a deadpan expression.
"well... maybe i forgot (◍•ᴗ•◍)" i nudged him as i let it go and slumped back in my seat giving a relaxed positioning my hands behind my head comfortably.
I relaxed my eyes, not realizing I was slowly falling asleep, as rain started heavily pouring outside. I slowly felt myself falling to my side, knowing Christian was there, but i wasn't fully conscious to move. next thing you knew, my head fell on Christians shoulder, and although he noticed, i felt him tense up but didn't move a single bit. "..." he was completely silent.
well... back to Nicole he had started driving, and we were already back on the road. Its such a relaxing, calm atmosphere and I wouldn't have woken up if it wasn't for Christian gently pushing me off of him. anyway, i went straight back to it, leaning on the headboard thing instead. I swear I could stay asleep for eternity like this.
it was silent, except for ruby and Nicole chatting every now and then. Christian and me were completely silent, and didn't say anything. i was slightly awake, but not enough to move my body much (only because it was too comfortable).
4:46pm.
I woke up to the sound of zombies groaning at the back of our car, and the setting sun shining at my face. I groaned sitting up straight as my head tilted the entire time I was asleep.
I looked around, and saw that Christian was the one driving now. Nicole was next to me,
"good evening. How'd ya sleep?" He smiled at me and looked at me.
I smiled back. "great, actually.. though despite the fact i might've broken my neck from that position." i stated, as i started tilting my head sideways and down and up and all sorts of sides to help the cramp.
I probably looked like I was having a stroke, or that's what I got from ruby and Nicole's expressions.
"are you ok perry?" ruby asked, looking at me with concern visible in her eyes.
"I'm fine, my neck just hurts a little.." I said, sighing quietly and slumping lightly in my seat and rubbed my neck slightly.
"What's the time?" i asked looking outside the window now. it was a glistening sight.. we could see the sun, the white clouds, and a half moon at the side.
the sun kept flashing as the tall buildings kept blocking it, so i was forced to look away at my own will. "It's 4:50" Christian stated, looking at his watch and continuing to drive. ruby seemed to be quiet the whole time since she was... drawing? I guess drawing, although I couldn't see a few cute doodles. I didn't want to be nosy so I didn't say anything about it.
"mph.... why don't we all stop somewhere and take a rest?" I suggested, and Nicole nodded his head, and Christian seemed keen to the idea as well.
"yeah, let's do that" Christian said, and ruby didn't seem to mind either, so we pulled over another nearby gas station, and while me and Nicole went in to loot a few things, ruby and Christian set up a place where we could set up the monopoly.
me and Nicole searched a few aisles, but found nothing that useful except a few hair ties, gloves which would be pretty useful and then a few games like uno, Pictionary and other board games. we took the uno, gloves and a few hair ties. oh, and i also forgot to add i got a chocolate for myself, along with Nicole. We both ate it, without leaving a crumb. we both checked around some more, and found nothing useful. We both slowly while chatting walked back to the car to only inform them of nothing useful.
as we walked back, through the windows i could see that they couldn't or hadn't set up the monopoly due to lack of space, (probably why) well, its a car, anyway so i didn't expect for it to fit anyway. I'll probably spend most the time trying to fit the monopoly board in the middle of the car. ugh, how i wish we had a van... its so much easier to play board games like this, and a lot more spacious then this crappy ass car. but i guess after all the uno would do until we find a way to set up the monopoly.
as i entered, i gave some of the hair ties to ruby, and she thanked me, and as me and Nicole settled down, Christian and ruby went to see if there were anything they wanted to get for themselves as well. although we told them, Ruby is really stubborn, and so i guess dragged Christian along with her. i chillaxed in the back and Nicole sat in the passenger seat comfortably as well. "...hmh..... don't you miss your family perry?" Nicole said, breaking the silence.
"i do... but not as much as you would miss a biological one, you know" I stated. I've always had a foster family, and would rather not go up to that topic again, but i let Nicole speak. "ah... that's right, sorry if it bothered you then.." he said in an apologetic tone, though i smiled a bit awkwardly. "no, no, it's fine." I smiled.
as it went silent again, and i didn't say anything, as the tension seemed to tone down a bit, and eventually forgot about it.
5:30pm
i was a bit spaced out listening to music, when i heard both the doors open, which probably meant Christian and ruby were back. i sat up from my laying position slowly, letting Christian some space. i guess ruby would drive.
but earlier, we decided that we'd stop here for the night. i guess that what we're doing then. i let Christian some space, and sat up, and sat on the left side in a relaxed position with my legs both crossed on the cushion comfortably.
its been a while now, you know, from this whole apocalypse and although i still haven't fully gotten used to zombies popping up every corner instead of humans, it kind of... relieves me. it makes me feel.. free. no school, no work, but in return i get basically my two closest friend and my enemy.. but i guess i could refer Christian my friend.. i cant just have a grudge against him forever. well at least not before this whole thing ends. it might end sooner then i expect, but it could last forever if there's no one on the job to find the cure. there's no way in 8 BILLION people everyone was infected, right?
. . . just silence. the car was silent we were all minding our own business i guess, but ruby and Christian were somewhat talking a bit, and breaking the silence the room every now and then.
though, me and Nicole were completely silent and let them talk. then, only I remembered something. i had a dairy/journal around one month before all this happened, and i think it might just so happen to be in my backpack currently. maybe, just maybe.
6:47pm
i was going through my journal that oh so definitely happened to be in my backpack. its was around evening probably turning seven or eight, the sun wasn't down completely yet so probably around seven or six-thirty.
but i stopped dead in my breathing when i heard a howl. a full, damn howl.
alright, one thing would be certain.
we were only in a city, i think in Seoul, definitely couldn't be an animal nearby. but one thing was clear. it was loud. it almost sounded like the same voice as before when someone was screaming.. but i was only focused on myself, which was the problem..
