Divinity Gained +.001
...
So apparently I could also gain Divinity from strong praise? I mean I guess that made sense though it would be a bit weird if my name became a cuss word like 'What in Kien Happened here' which would be funny if that's how I got my Divinity.
A sighed out of relief as the hell that was this week was a little bit better. I heard the scraping of movement from behind the barricade.
"Hey, Kien just hold tight for a moment while we move some of this stuff" A voice called over the barricade. I looked around at was pretty much just a campsite. Seeing a somewhat comfortable chair I sat down. Rubbing my hands together I popped open my character Sheet. My new 'race' meant I got 5 stats per a level, which with my level up I could now massively increase my stats. First off I spent a half point on wisdom and one point apiece on memory and perception. Then I spent a point on Strength and Agility, then I slammed the last half point into Regeneration.
As I locked in my stats, I heard the fence gates swing open.
"Kien, you dirty dog you did it you actually fuckin did it!" Mr. Jones said.
"Yeah the fuck I did" I responded to him sitting up. The group, sitting at the foot of the Manor was armed to the teeth, well just as about as well as you'd expect for a group with no gunpowder and electricity. Each won bore a smile on their face as they game to greet me.
"Thanks kid you saved everyone here" Mr. Geriad said.
"Oh, boy we where ready to lay down our lives to buy time, the bastards all sudden decided to try and kill not but an hour ago they sitting there" Mr. Brown said giving me a pat on the back.
"Hey, Kien thank you for your help" Mr. Johnson said.
" All in days work quiet literally, you should invest in Agility" I responded, the Cheery face dropped for a second.
"Did you find evidence of your father?" He asked concerned.
"Unfortunately no I didn't have the time and the Ranger Station was burnt to a crisp thank good it's not the dry season." I said, I was worried about my Dad but I also knew if I put money on someone surviving this it would be my dad.
"That's okay we can searching later, for now though I'm pretty sure your badass of a ranger Dad is Okay, alright Kien?" He responded I knew he was trying to reassure me.
"Alright everybody, the Gobs are gone!" Mr. Johnson yelled To the Manor.
"We know, we've got a barricade to," the sound of Old Man Welton came out from behind the front door.
Smiling I filled in lightly about what had happened, though keeping the big stuff to myself.
The Old Man soon rushed out of the house, saw me and broke into a grin.
"Eh, their me oh Noble Mr. Noble, I'm not worthy of your Presence!" He said Bowing.
"Uh, what's this about?" Mr. Geriad sounding rightfully confused.
"Ah, allow me to elaborate, that our little champion here has become ennobled!" The Old Man. Cackled like it was the funniest thing ever.
"How in the hell did you know that?" I asked.
"Oh, thats because I was told that a higher ranking Noble had bordered my domain and that I could swear fealty to him" he explained away.
"This is America what's up with everyone getting Noble titles?" Mr. Brown asked.
"I have an answer to that" I said, and everyone snapped their head towards me.
"Think of it like this, the reason behind the fall of Feudalism was because no matter how strong someone got even the best warrior would fall to roughly ten or so average dudes so it was a system on a ticking clock, now though I could kill roughly 20-30 average people easily and if that continues up the scale it makes sense that dictatorships and monarchies are the not the exception but the norm" I said.
"I mean I'm pretty sure everyone put that together" The Old Man said dead faced.
"Oh" I said feeling a little awkward.
"HA, you are a really deadly nerd, but still a nerd" The Old Man busted out laughing. Everyone broke out laughing, and eventually the group holed up in the Manor dispersed and eventually the Old Man pulled me aside to have 'a drink'.
He pulled out two whiskey glasses and before I could protest about alcohol he pulled out a can of cola and poured me a glass of cola and himself a glass of bourbon. I picked up my Glass.
"To surviving and Kicking Ass" he said.
"To making them pay back what they took and interest!" I followed and with a light click of our glasses. Sipping and savoring the sugary drink, in a companionable silence for moment. Then the Old Man Welton turned to me.
"I [Chief of Welton Manor] henceforth swear fealty to Kien Noble [Fief Lord of the Mammoth Caves]" he said and as he did I got a notification.
...
A level two [Low Human Noble] John Welton offers his fealty and that of [Chiefdom of Welton Manor]
Accept [Y/N]
...
"Come on Kid, it'll make it easier, a group as small as ours only has the luxury of one true leader" he said his voice firm.
Knowing I was going to lose the argument, I pressed yes on the notification.
...
Your Vassal [John Welton] has had his title of Chief changed to Mayor.
...
"Hello, their Mayor Welton" Smiling at the disgruntled Old War vet.
"Yeah, yeah laugh it up" he said into hair glass.
"Alright I gotta tell ya something a lot of somethings really" I said.
"Oh, do you now? You know if you're coming out of the closet I completely understand!" The Old Man said completely seriously, I blinked for a moment before he broke out laughing.
"Ah, well fuck you" I said jokingly giving him the bird.
"Ah, don't get your panties in a twist you whistle dick" he said.
"Okay seriously, I've got to tell you something" I said trying to communicate the seriously.
"Oh, okay lay it on what's next werewolves, vampires, an army of undead hungry for brains?" He said.
"No nothing like that, it's uh, just hat I might've have promised to protect a hundred or so goblin eggs" I said cringing as the Old Man looked at me as if I grew a second head.
"Let me get this straight, you promised to protect a hundred tiny little monsters, ten times the number of which we just got rid off?" He said Slowly.
"Not exactly, goblins are capable of complex thoughts and as long as they have food they don't eat human meat" I said even I heard I knew it was a pretty shitty sales pitch.
"You know what I'm to old for this magical bullshit, I'll back you but you have to tell Mrs. Gonzalez" he said pouring himself another glass.
"Yeah I figured as much, however I more to tell you, it's better news than what I just shared" I said.
"Well before you go on I have some actual good news, I've got a teleportation token allowing me to move the Manor to a safer location." He said. He was right that was great news as we could consolidate power.
"Alright my news is probably not that good—" I was cut off by the Old Man.
"Then let me top off my drink" he said gruffly.
"Alright you do that, anyways as I was saying as a reward I got a racial evolution, one of the options was being something called a Daemon, you know like the minor deities of Greek Mythos?" I said.
"Ya, wasn't that fellow in the ferry one" He said thinking for a moment.
"Yeah like him, and well I chose that one, and well I essentially have become a Semi-Divine being" I said wincing waiting for him to say something.
"Oh, that's cool I guess, what you need Blood sacrifices or something?" He asked me rasing a single eyebrow.
"Oh, nothing of the sort, basically I get a shit ton of stat points per a level, and I can bless stuff, I've got mana and I can designate an area as a shrine" I said.
"Hmm, cool I guess, people might be willing to sing ya and shit if you make there stuff holy" he said stroking his chin in thought.
...
Eventually me and him joined the others and I watched the buffoonery and happiness that bloomed in the night. There was Cornhole, throwing darts, pingpong, and a old pool table. Burgers and potato chips was like a feast of the gods. I ate and enjoyed the well earned party.
...
"Okay Kien can you tell us, everything that happened between when you left and returned" Mr. Johnson said in a impromptu meeting.
"Well, I ran to the dinosaur park, found an emu that had evolved into a dinosaur" I said.
"Wait you fought a legit Dinosaur" Mr. Akinyemi said to me flabbergasted.
"Yeah, and from their I made to the park and found the Ranger Station in ruins and a trail of blood leading up to the caves, but I knew an obscure trail that ran parallel to the trail and from their I snuck inside"
I finished narrating the rest of the story and their were laughs and snickering as I told the part about the [Goblin Chief] right until I told them about the deal I had made.
"You want to raise a hundred of those monstrosities! The very same that killed my husband!" Mrs. Gonzalez yelled.
"But their not, they haven't done anything yet their stuck in those eggs." I said back, I understood why but it didn't sit well with me that a hundred children should die for the fathers mistakes. Mrs. Gonzalez was nothing of but a practical person in many respects, and as a nurse she had to heal some really terrible people.
"Fine, I agree that we shouldn't kill children especially if they're as intelligent as you say however I posses a single condition" she said firmly.
"Depends on the request" I responded, daring to hope this was going to be easy.
"I want to be one of the people watching them, I believe firmly nurture or nature, and I want to make sure we aren't raising a bunch of murders" She said.
"Okay that I will grant you, and thank you" I said.
...
From their I explained the whole rulership of the Mammoth caves, and Me Mr. Welton convinced the rest that due to his token it made the most sense to move the Manor to Caves where it was less in the open and the whole thing about it being a world wonder.
My last hurdle having to tell people I had grown up with that I was now a Divine being.
...
"Alright, my last bomb drop for tonight at least, I as reward for completing the quest for a racial evolution and the option I had picked was [Daemon of Protection and The Depths]" I said Waiting for the responses
"Like Demon?" Mrs. Smith said looking worried and confused.
"No, no a Daemon its a being from Greek Mythos that acted as intermediates between the Divine and the Mortal realms think of Chiron the Ferryman" Mr. Akinyemi said.
"Yep, and thank you, yes I have become a Semi-Divine being according to the system and I have gained the ability to basic Divine stuff like making shrines and the like." I said, and the reactions where mixed.
"So too clarify if we give you worship and the like it gives you power and you give us blessings and stuff" Mr. Johnson said.
"Basically, I get Divinity which is from what I understand is basically the money of the Divine so once I'm out Im out." I explained, and it made sense. Basic supply and demand a common concept for the American people.
"Alright well given our position I think as long as you keep yourself humble and not a raging dick I for one think going through with this might work out." Mr Johnson said his voice carried a lot of way around here and soon enough.
