Practically a bombardment of notifications flew in front of me upon the passing of the [Goblin Chief]. Scanning through them, I saw that I had leveled up, and completed a [Herculean Task] which granted a smidgen of Divinity what ever that was. Got the rewards from the Quest which was [Rulership of the Mammoth Caves] a racial evolution, and another class stone.[Cave Gardener].
I had lost my title of [Champion of Welton's Manor] and gained a title [Fief Lord of the Mammoth Caves]. Calling the Mammoth Caves a fief was a little insulting considering it was a bigger area than like 7 countries, though to be fair those areas where really small.
This was like my birthday, if you're birthday you were given power ups and the like. I had also gotten another achievement, [Lord of the Earthen Depths] which I had gotten for owning a [World Wonder]. It had granted me the skill [Geomancy] which I was really excited for cause it was well you know magic.
The racial evolution, on the other hand left a bad taste in my mouth. The idea of evolving was kinda cool, but the insinuation that earth humans were some less evolved kinda pissed me off just a tad. Though thinking about we had also named a species of Flamingo 'Lesser Flamingo' so we gave it had coming.
The options themselves were interesting, [High Human Nobility] was straight up boring. The [Deep Elvish Nobility] was the next up the 'flavor text' said that where a mix of sub-races of Elves, and the traits were interesting [Night Vision] was kinda of a no brainer [Cave Kin] basically a you don't fuck with me I don't fuck with you treaty with everything living in a cave and the [Cave Floramancy] was exactly how it sounded, controlling plants that grew in caves.
The next option up to bat was [Deep Dwarfish Nobility] which was basically the previous one but less about the things living in the Caves and moreso about the stuff in the caves [Treasure Seekers] sounded like a cool hobby to have but not exactly powerful. [Advanced Geomancy] on the other hand sounded useful but I didn't know how it differed from [Geomancy] besides a fancy title.
[Stone Giant Nobility] sounded badass, until you got down to the logistics cause either I was about to be a really fuckin short Giant or I was going to turn into an at least 10 foot tall, and in these caves you could miss me on that becoming mythical creature or not being 6'1 was already a pain my ass.
The last one was straight unhelpful, as only from a previous fascination with classical Greece did I know that Daemons or Daimons, were not a fancy way to say demon and where instead minor divine beings given one liners and like in the various epic poems and plays of Ancient Greece. The poster boy for them was the good olde Ferryman Charon who guided souls across the river Styx. As far a I could understand that Smidgen of Divinity was what got me this option and that I would gain some powers of the Domains of Protection and The Depths. What the Flippty fuck 'The Depths' meant could really be anyone's guess. However, Protection sounded useful, what wasn't useful was the series of question marks right next to traits which really didn't help me out here.
I began to tally off the first few options. [High Human Nobility] and [Stone Giant Nobility] were out first. Follow quickly by [Deep Dwarfish Nobility]. Leaving one mysterious option and the other just because being elf sounds cool. Finally I decided to just flip one of my new coins. Fishing one out of the satchel, I pulled out a silver coin bearing an image of an Elf bearing a crown on one side and a coat of arms on the other.
I chose the deep elvish as well the elf head and the coat of arms as the Daemon. It flipped once, flipped twice, and flipped a third time as the sliver coin landed on my palm. It displayed a banner split into four pieces, one bore a tree, another bore the visage of a crown, the third had a Griffen, and the final had a strange symbol i didn't recognize on it.
Letting out a breath of air I pressed on the [Daemon of Protection and The Depths]. A small seed I didn't know I had blossomed its roots growing in fertile soil and small leaves bathing in a invisible sunlight. Eventually as it grew into a small sapling it stopped and, then my mind expanded.
Strange concepts incomprehensible to my mortal brain slammed into me leaving a small indent where they had collided. This battering withered at my mind both breaking and nurturing it. Eventually, once again my mind grew, I knew what the depths meant, they were a refuge, a safe haven for the creatures of the dark, and yet it was a dangerous place for outsiders and upstarts, for they do not know to be wary of knives in the dark.
As soon as I understood it and basked in the understanding it was ripped away. In its absence another indentation took place. I felt a covering Aura over me, me and a new insight took place. It came over me imparting it's wisdom upon me. I understood what it meant to protect something to sacrifice yourself so that way something could be preserved even when time, death, and treachery tried to break it. All of these insights suddenly stopped like a car hitting a brick wall.

...
Well, that and experience to say the least, as I began to move around stretching for a second. Scanning over the information. I saw several important pieces of information, one I was now some really minor divine entity, two I couldn't use any of my new things until I gained more Divinity which really sucked as some of those abilities sounded really cool.
Sighing I dismissed the notifications, looking at some of the others again, I remembered my stat point which I threw a curve ball and invested in Wisdom and Intelligence by a half point. Which raised my man's to 18, however as much as I would have loved to play around with Geomancy I had some goblin eggs to check on and a Manor to save.
"Well Fucken shit man there's got to be at least a hundred eggs here!" I exclaimed to no one in particular. I was going to have to leave him here as I couldn't bring them with me.
Walking over to the Corpse of the [Goblin Chief] I checked His stuff but unfortunately he didn't have a whole lot of stuff besides his spear which was labeled [Goblinic Great Spear] which really did not help me out.
Using my strength I began to pile boulders at the entrance of the egg enclosure hopefully protecting them from damage. After that I navigated my way out of the caves and into the day light.
From there I began to sprint there my body moving at supernatural speeds which meant I was running at a nice constant pace of 20 miles per an hour, considering I was ten miles away it meant I could travel to the Manor within thirty minutes.
As I passed the wreckage of the city I knew we wouldn't find many more people the goblins were through. As I neared Mulberry Avenue, I slowed down, and eventually I heard sounds of skirmishing. Speeding to it, I saw a single goblin being surrounded by Scouts. Lunging forward I killed the goblin in a single stroke. I dismissed the notification that popped up quickly.
"What's the situation here?" I asked.
"Well uh we've been whittling down there numbers here and there, but unless you can kill their champion we're fucked honestly" he said.
"Okay well go tell the other scouts that I have returned and that I'm going to kill the Champion" I said firmly.
Turning towards the Manor, I dashed forward and this time I sprinted full speed. In in a flash I was down the street from the Manor and I could see the Goblin Champion trying to break through the gate with brute force luckily enough for us he did not specialize in strength so breaking through the reinforced gate was a slow going process.
I saw my first target one of the goblins was sharpening something. Moving quickly I manged to kill one almost immediately. Turning around the. Goblin champion let out a screech from its diaphragm.
"Kkkkk you are Murderer you killed Chief you killed Chief!!" It yelled lunging at me in its grip was a short sword. Raising my bat in a blocking motion I stopped his momentum on a dime. Forcing it back, for a moment I knicked it's cheek. It had a slightly higher agility then me however I still managed to keep up with the squirrelly fighter. It bounced around like a pingpong ball, moving slightly out of the way it grew more and more desperate.
Soon enough however I had it, moving with precision I cut the goblin champion down with a single stroke length wise as tried to maneuver around me.

Well that was anti climatic. I heard a roar of cheers as the notification reached out to the surrounding people of [Welton Manor].
I heard a Cheer coming from across the Battlements
"KIEN KIEN KIEN!" and I felt the little seedling grow a bit
