"Calm down," he said softly, looking extremely relaxed for a man who was about to be arrested. "Nothing is going to happen. Sophie can't bring me down."
That tone. That determination. That confidence was piquing her interest again. Anytime he spoke like that, with so much confidence, it always assured her because she knew it would happen.
If he said Sophie wouldn't bring him down, she wouldn't. Like he said Sophie would missed her wedding and the wedding didn't hold. Like he told her she would be fine when those assassins came and she was fine.
