-3 POV-
Lucas gripped the handlebars of his bicycle, his forehead slick with sweat. It's legs were near that the moment would have come to pedal at full speed to escape the danger.
Before him, a cacophony of guttural roars and high-pitched shrieks echoed, the sound of his pursuers gaining ground.
Goblins, their green skin glistening with a repulsive blood. Some hulking Lizardman, scales the color of dried blood, lumbered into view, there reptilian eyes narrowed in predatory focus. Harpies with leathery wings and razor-sharp heels swooped, their piercing screams a symphony of malice. Bugbear a bear monster that are really terrifying up close and can chase you with no much difficulty. And the most serious treat of the pack the bloody dinosaurs.
And while Lucas was busy praying for his life, his greatest asset and his most peculiar companion, Ivy didn't feel a single emotional turmoil. It was much more like this whole situation was just a simple game to her, or like all these monsters were nothing to her.
But strangely, she was strapped back to Lucas with some vine. This was Snivy, or Ivy for short, and Lucas's sole protector.
"Ivy, I don't know what plan you and the narrator had in mind, but I don't think a little contextualization is going to help us get through this."
Of course, Lucas's sarcastic comment wasn't going to bother her for two simple reasons.
1- For the last four minutes, he had been talking to himself, complaining about all the risks he was taking.
2- Ivy was completely focused on one goal: concentrating the sun's energy, and therefore unable to move as she pleased.
Anyone who's played a Pokémon game with a Grass-type Pokémon will recognize this move.
[Solar Beam: The user absorbs a large amount of light, then fires a powerful beam. The attack takes a while to activate.]
Of course, for a Pokémon of her level, given her youth (she doesn't quite remember the move in general), and with the poor sunlight and occasional passing clouds, the charging time, which should have been a maximum of 5-14 seconds, is dragging on for over two minutes.
This only adds to Lucas's stress as he watches the wave of monsters dangerously approaching.
(At least 300 meters before we're in real danger.)
(And luckily, a good number of them got run over during their mad dash.)
(But the strategy we're going to use isn't great, but oh well, we'll make do with what we have.)
"SNI"◉‿◉
And while Lucas was turning the situation over in his mind, Ivy signaled that her preparations were complete.
"Are you sure about this? There's no turning back."
"SNI!!!" (◉‿◉)
"Hmm, okay, LET'S GO." No sooner said than done, Lucas started pedaling with all his might toward the horde of monsters.
Any sensible person in this situation wouldn't try to get close to this source of monsters.
And while Lucas seemed to be pedaling straight towards the monsters, about 30 meters away, he immediately executed a U-turn and began to slow down slightly to let them catch up.
Lucas continued to slow down, just waiting for Ivy's signal to launch the attack and prepare to stabilize the bike and immediately regain speed to buy time.
The goal of this dangerous maneuver was to get close to the horde, hit as hard as possible, and escape as quickly as possible to have time to charge another Solar Beam.
Of course, those who have played a Souls game will recognize this technique, more commonly known as 'Hit and Run'.
"SNI!!!!!!"ლ(^o^ლ)
And the moment seemed to have arrived. Ivy aimed with the greatest possible precision at the Bugbear that was closest to them.
Suddenly, a concentrated beam of light launched from the Pokémon's monsters, vaporizing a small amount of about a quarter of the current monsters.
--BAMMM---
-SQUISH-SQUASH-SQUISH-SQUICH-
The sound of the monsters transforming into black smoke and the Magic Stones falling was the only sound immediately heard after the beam of light was launched.
"OHHHHHHH"
And accessories pushing the duo ahead because of the beam's recoil.
"AAARRRRRRHHHH, IVY, WHAT'S GOING ON???"
"SNI!!!!!!!"('◉⌓◉')
"WAIT, WHERE'S THAT SPEED COMING FROM? DON'T TELL ME IT'S THE RECOIL DOING THAT?"
Gripping the handlebars more firmly, Lucas tried to force the bike to fly straight.
The recoil that Lucas and Ivy hadn't taken into account would have been welcome if it hadn't nearly caused our duo to fall due to the unpredictable nature of the moment.
Fortunately, thanks to a maneuver worthy of a professional, he managed to stabilize the bike and used some of the remaining momentum to gain some distance.
The chase was far from over, but they managed to repeat this maneuver four more times. But the Solar Beams were getting longer, weaker, and less precise with each passing moment.
And of course, Lucas couldn't have missed this situation at this rate.
"Ivy----are---you---okay-?" Still pedaling at full speed, trying once again to overtake the monsters within 7 meters of them, Lucas asked her, slightly worried.
"sni..vy"ರ_ರ
"Okay---I---see---that---you're-------" After taking a deep breath, "--tired----also----anyway."
Lucas's face was dripping with sweat, he could barely see where he was going, and he couldn't afford to wash his face until he was a safe distance away.
Yet this whole maneuver lasted no more than 20 minutes from start to finish, which speaks volumes about how exhausted these two are.
"Don't worry-----don't---we'll-be----done-soon-----with---this------situation---"
-SLUSH-
-CRACK-
"SHIT, what's going on now?!"
"SNI??????"( ≧D≦)
As Lucas tried to encourage Ivy, he suddenly failed to notice that the Harpies had moved dangerously close, close enough to launch their feather at the duo. But luckily, the projectile narrowly missed Lucas and hit the bike chain directly.
This caused the most painful fall imaginable.
"Arrrghhhh, damn, my head still hurts, what a fall-" Then suddenly, a sharp pain shot up his right foot.
"Damn, did I scrape my foot?" After quickly examining the area of pain, he realized it was only a minor injury.
(Just a little bit of skin missing, and a small, shallow cut.)
"Okay, Ivy, are you okay?"
"S-ni"
I immediately pulled a bottle of milk from the system and gave it to him right away.
"Here, drink it quickly so we can escape quickly-"
"RAAAWWWW"
"HARP" "HARP"
The cries of the monsters began to get dangerously close and the Harpy was already above them, circling around them like vultures waiting for the slightest opportunity to attack.
