Chapter 16 – He Lost His Job

After hanging up, Wen Zhi turned to look at Mo Tinging, asking seriously, "Did you really tell the company you refuse to fly with Chief Purser Xu from now on?"

Mo Tinging shot her a glance and answered matter-of-factly, "Yeah."

"Why would you do that?"

Mo Tinging replied honestly, "The people trained by Chief Purser Xu aren't good at handling crisis PR."

Wen Zhi's head throbbed. Suppressing her anger, she said, "Do you have any idea who Chief Purser Xu is? Her husband is a high-level executive with a lot of power in Jiang Airlines. She herself is extremely petty. Last time we had a new captain—he offended her over something tiny, and a week later, he was fired."

Seeing her so anxious, Mo Tinging wasn't anxious at all. Instead, he smiled brightly. "You're that worried about me?"

Wen Zhi was speechless. Worried about him? She was worried about his job!

If he got fired, how were they supposed to pay the four-figure monthly mortgage?

Her heart tightened with unease. Tugging at her seatbelt, she turned toward him with a stern look. "Mo Tinging, when you're about to make an impulsive decision, could you at least discuss it with me first? If you lose your job, what exactly do you plan to do?"

Mo Tinging glanced at her quickly while driving, then flashed his usual roguish smile. "You'll support me?"

Wen Zhi: "…"

She was truly speechless. This man had no idea how serious the situation was!

She turned away, staring angrily out the window, her heart stifled.

If she asked Mo Tinging to apologize…

She didn't want that either. She didn't like power-abusing Chief Purser Xu.

And knowing Xu well, even if Mo Tinging bowed his head, she wouldn't let it go easily.

Until they got home, Wen Zhi didn't speak to Mo Tinging again.

After running around all day, she felt sticky and uncomfortable, so she went to shower. Washing away the fatigue, she returned to the room, sat by the desk, and opened her contacts, thinking about whether she knew anyone who could help.

Just then, Mo Tinging—who had also showered—pushed open the door, smiling as he walked behind her.

He picked up the towel from her shoulder and placed it over her still-wet hair, gently drying it. "Still angry?"

Wen Zhi ignored him.

"Then should I try really hard to coax you?" Mo Tinging bent down and wrapped his arms around her from behind, pressing his lips to her neck and kissing her, while his hand slipped inside her collar.

Wen Zhi had come out of the shower without wearing underwear. Being touched like this instantly infuriated her!

Work was on the verge of collapsing, and he still had the nerve to think about that?

She stood up abruptly, escaping his arms and dodging his attempts.

Wanting to "eat meat," Mo Tinging had no choice but to coax her seriously. "Don't worry. I transferred here from Xingzhou. They can't touch me…"

But Wen Zhi knew he was far too optimistic.

Mo Tinging's days at the company were numbered. With the two of them carrying more than two million in debt, neither could afford to lose their job.

So… she needed to think of a plan.

"Mo Tinging, I'm not in the mood for that. We agreed before—if I don't want to, you won't force me."

She pushed his arm firmly and drove him out of the room. "Go out. I need some quiet."

Mo Tinging, denied his "meat": "…"

His mood instantly soured.

The next day, Wen Zhi arrived at work early. As she was preparing for the pre-flight meeting, she suddenly heard chaotic footsteps outside—and chatter:

"The captain's in trouble!"

Wen Zhi, who usually hated getting involved in drama, immediately leaped to her feet and rushed out.

Not far away, a crowd surrounded Mo Tinging and Chief Purser Xu. Xu stood with her arms crossed, blocking his way, her voice sharp and hostile.

"Mo Tinging, don't think I don't know. Since the first day you flew with our team, you've disliked us. You're obviously targeting us."

Mo Tinging stood with his hands in his pockets, his uniform outlining his impeccable figure.

With a lazy, unruly gaze, he smirked. "You misunderstand, Chief Purser Xu. I'm not targeting your team—I'm specifically targeting you. A chief purser who lets her crew take the blame has lousy character."

"You—!" Chief Purser Xu bit down on her teeth, then sneered.

"You dog. At Jiang Airlines, it's not your place to lecture me. Just wait. I have plenty of ways to kick you out of here!"

She spun around proudly, ready to leave.

Mo Tinging raised a brow. Hands leaving his pockets to cross over his chest, he said unhurriedly to her back, "Sure, I'll wait. But next time you come out of the bathroom, remember to wipe your mouth. Talking that dirty is disgusting."

Chief Purser Xu froze mid-step and turned back with a venomous glare.

But Mo Tinging had already turned away, strolling toward the office.

Xu was enraged to the point of trembling. Seeing the crowd still watching, she stomped her foot and snapped, "What are you looking at? Don't want your jobs? Get lost!"

No one dared provoke her—they dispersed instantly.

Wen Zhi also slipped away with the group.

Her mind was buzzing.

This Mo Tinging… why was he so good at causing trouble?!

After calming herself for a moment, she took out her phone and sent a text.

A few minutes later—

The stairwell door opened. Wen Zhi grabbed Mo Tinging—who had come after receiving her message—and yanked him inside.

Fuming, she slammed him against the wall. "What's wrong with you?! I told you she's petty! Haven't you heard the saying: offend a gentleman rather than offend a petty villain?!"

Mo Tinging simply wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her close. He kissed her forehead and coaxed, "Pearl, don't be mad. She yelled at me first—she even called me a dog. Of course I had to fight back."

"You—" Wen Zhi tried pushing him, but he held firm.

"Let go of me."

"I will—if you say you're not angry."

His smug grin widened.

The more he acted like this, the angrier she got.

Mo Tinging leaned down closer. "Pearl, be good. Don't be mad. If you stay mad… I'll kiss you."

"You—stop messing around, I—mmph—"

Before she could finish, he kissed her—deeply, naturally taking control.

Her tongue was trapped. She struggled, muffled.

And with footsteps occasionally passing outside the stairwell, she feared being discovered, so she quickly nodded several times—fine, fine, she wasn't angry!

Only then did Mo Tinging reluctantly release her. Honestly, he hoped she'd stayed stubborn a bit longer—he hadn't kissed enough.

Wen Zhi finally caught her breath.

She knew this situation couldn't be solved within the company. So she looked at him seriously.

"After today's flight, you're coming with me somewhere."

"Where?"

She glared at him. "Where else? Obviously somewhere we can find someone with authority—someone who can restrain Chief Purser Xu and protect your job."

After fixing her clothes, she waited until no footsteps were outside, then quickly left the stairwell.

Mo Tinging raised a hand to his lips—the warmth of her kiss still lingering—his eyes filled with mischievous amusement.

He couldn't tell her—

In Jiang Airlines, no one could lay a hand on him.

But he was very curious… what exactly was she planning?
