Chapter 22 - chapter 22-caught in the Heat

Chapter 22 – Caught in the Heat

Wen Zhi was being caught in bed—actually caught.

By Mo Tingjue.

Perfect.

So that's why she wouldn't get back together with him?

His face twisted. He wanted to see for himself what kind of filthy wild man was capable of making Wen Zhi, who had dated him for two years without ever letting him touch her, lose all restraint.

He slammed a fist against the door.

"Wen Zhi! What the hell are you doing in there? Open the door! Come out right now!"

Inside, Wen Zhi froze mid-kiss, body still burning, breath tangled with Mo Tingyan's.

She slapped a hand over her mouth, refusing to make a sound.

No matter who was outside, she still had shame.

But Mo Tingyan… absolutely did not plan to let her keep any.

The quieter Wen Zhi tried to be, the closer he leaned.

His lips brushed her ear, breath hot, voice low and sinful enough to melt bone.

Wen Zhi: "…"

This man was insane.

Outside, Mo Tingjue heard the sudden silence and became even more convinced of his own assumptions. He hit the door harder.

"Wen Zhi! You're not getting away tonight. If you don't open this door, I'll stand here until you do!"

Inside, Wen Zhi pushed against Mo Tingyan's shoulders and whispered urgently,

"If you let him keep shouting, people will notice. This is going to turn into a disaster."

Mo Tingyan nodded… seriously.

"True. So beg me, and I'll get rid of him."

Wen Zhi stared at him.

Was he five?!

He raised a brow.

"Staring doesn't count. If you won't beg—then say it."

Wen Zhi gritted her teeth.

This man's childishness could pierce the heavens.

But Mo Tingyan didn't care about her frustration. As long as she acknowledged he was the best, that was enough.

He pulled out his phone, typed something swiftly, and tossed it aside.

Wen Zhi blinked.

What did he just do?

Meanwhile, outside, Mo Tingjue kept pounding on the door—completely ruining any possible mood.

Not that Mo Tingyan cared; he was still having the time of his life.

Then, half a minute of silence later—

A crisp voice sounded outside the door.

"Mr. Mo? Are you looking for Wen Zhi?"

Mo Tingjue stiffened.

It was flight attendant Lin Yue.

Before he could respond, she continued,

"Wen Zhi and the others were invited out by Captain Mo to go sing. I'm heading there too."

Mo Tingjue froze.

Wen Zhi… went out?

So the woman inside wasn't her?

Then who—

Her roommate? With her boyfriend?

His expression collapsed.

So he had been banging on someone else's door…

While they were having their private time.

Mortifying.

He coughed and straightened.

"Ah. I—I didn't know. I came without calling first. I'll head back."

He left so fast he practically fled the hallway.

What he didn't know was that Wen Zhi had no roommate tonight—she lived alone.

Inside, the world went quiet again.

And Mo Tingyan wasted no time pulling Wen Zhi right back into the flames he'd lit.

Ten minutes later, they were finally done.

Mo Tingyan lit a post-moment cigarette, stretched lazily, and stood.

"Come on. Wash up—we're going to sing."

Earlier, to get rid of Mo Tingjue, he'd messaged the entire crew—including the copilot—inviting everyone to a karaoke gathering.

Now he couldn't ditch his own plan.

Wen Zhi tugged the blanket over herself.

"I'm not going."

Crowds weren't her thing.

Mo Tingyan froze.

If he left her alone, Mo Tingjue might come back.

He loosened his bathrobe, slid back onto the bed behind her, wrapped an arm around her waist, and murmured,

"Then I'm not going either. We can rest a little and continue."

Wen Zhi: "…"

Ten minutes later, Wen Zhi walked out of the hotel room with her bag.

Mo Tingyan left for the KTV first; after he settled everyone in, Wen Zhi arrived a few minutes later.

The room was lively—until everyone saw her walk in.

Surprise rippled across the crowd.

Lin Yue glanced at Wen Zhi's bare face—already beautiful enough to make others jealous—and said coolly,

"I ran into your boyfriend outside your room earlier. I guess he didn't expect Captain Mo to have such charm—enough to drag even you into attending a team party. Seems we were never attractive enough to you before, right?"

A few girls laughed—some mocking, some teasing.

Wen Zhi didn't bother reacting. She simply walked to the corner sofa, sat down gracefully, and lifted her gaze.

"Mm. Captain Mo does have great charm. Otherwise, why would you put on three layers of primer and three layers of powder just to come?"

Lin Yue's face stiffened.

Wen Zhi was deliberately crushing her with a bare face.

"I only did my makeup out of respect for the captain," Lin Yue snapped.

"And I'm here out of respect for the captain too," Wen Zhi replied mildly.

Lin Yue: "…"

She was fuming.

Mo Tingyan, satisfied she hadn't been bullied, hooked a smile at the corner of his lips.

"All right, everyone's here except the chief purser. Let's continue—come pick your songs."

The room burst back into energy.

Until—

A knock came.

The door opened.

Mo Tingjue stepped inside.

The room fell silent.

He scanned the crowd—his eyes instantly landing on Wen Zhi tucked in the corner.

His shoulders relaxed.

She really was here.

The woman inside the room earlier wasn't her.

Then his gaze moved to Mo Tingyan.

He forced a polite smile.

"Brother, mind if I join?"

Gasps echoed.

Lin Yue blinked at him.

"Mr. Mo… did you just call our captain… brother?"

Mo Tingjue slipped easily into the conversation.

"Of course. Your Captain Mo is my elder brother."

Now the crew understood.

Not just identical names—actual brothers.

No wonder the captain had yelled at Mr. Mo on the plane and Mr. Mo just swallowed it…

Lin Yue squinted at the two of them.

"They don't look that alike though."

Mo Tingyan snorted.

"Different mothers. Naturally we don't look alike."

Half-brothers?

The crew exchanged wide-eyed glances but didn't dare ask more.

Mo Tingjue ignored the tension and walked straight toward Wen Zhi, softening his voice.

"Xiao Zhi, I know you don't like gatherings. I'll stay with you."

He started to sit beside her—

But then Mo Tingyan's usually lazy, warm voice dropped several degrees.

"Who said," he murmured coldly,

"you're allowed to stay?"
