Chapter 20 – He's Jealous

Because Mo Tingyan was temporarily paired with Chief Purser Xue's team, Wen Zhi had no choice but to fly the same routes as him for the foreseeable future.

To avoid suspicion, she deliberately walked separately from him.

That afternoon, the moment she stepped into the airline's main lobby, her eyes fell on a bright crimson notice posted on the bulletin board.

Curious, she stepped closer.

When she saw the headline—Manager Hao has been terminated—she froze.

Yesterday when she and Mo Tingyan went to talk to the new CEO, all she'd asked for was to protect Mo Tingyan's job. She never said anything about taking down that disgusting old creep.

Well… this was quite an unexpected bonus.

In a very good mood, Wen Zhi went upstairs. The pre-flight briefing hadn't started yet, so when she noticed the empty hallway, she slipped into Mo Tingyan's office.

He had just finished reviewing the flight information. Seeing her, he immediately set the documents aside, walked toward her, wrapped his arms around her, and brushed his fingers across her cheek. His voice carried deliberate teasing, his fox-like eyes filled with charm.

"My precious jewel actually dared to visit me at the company? That's a rare sight."

Wen Zhi ignored his teasing and got straight to the point.

"You came up from the underground parking lot, right? Then I'm guessing you haven't seen the new notice yet."

"What notice?"

"Hao Xuguang was fired," she said, unable to hide the lightness in her tone. "I didn't expect the new CEO to be so reasonable. He not only protected your job but even cleaned out that toxic tumor. He's practically doing justice for the people."

Seeing the genuine happiness in her eyes, Mo Tingyan lifted her and set her on top of his desk. His fingers slid through her hair, his voice low and provocative.

"So this new CEO is rich and reasonable. Does my little treasure think he's better than me?"

Wen Zhi: "…"

Where did this man get his endless competitive streak with every other male creature?

When she didn't respond, half of Mo Tingyan's good mood evaporated.

"You're silent? So you do think another man is better than me? I'm heartbroken. I suppose I'll have to punish my mentally unfaithful wife… perhaps right here?"

He leaned down and captured her lips.

Wen Zhi pressed a hand to his chest, exasperated.

"Enough. Stop fooling around. Calm down—we're about to start the briefing."

Afraid he'd completely lose control, she quickly pushed him away, hopped off the desk, and escaped from his office.

Mo Tingyan leaned against the edge of the table. Calm down?

Last time, when he asked her whether he or Mo Tingjue was better, she chose him without hesitation.

But this time… she didn't answer.

The more he thought about it, the more irritated he became. He needed to rip something apart.

Since she ran—fine. He'd deal with her tonight.

He grabbed his phone and dialed a number.

When the call connected, his voice was cold and sharp.

"The Sheng Group contract. You have three days to secure it."

The person on the other end: "???"

"Big brother, Sheng Group is impossible to crack. Three days is—"

"Impossible? You're capable and wonderfully reasonable. If you can't manage such a small task, then maybe go open up farmland in Africa."

"…"

Before the poor man could argue, the call ended with a beep.

He sighed.

What kind of collateral damage was he suffering from here?

During the pre-flight briefing, Wen Zhi flipped through the passenger list. Her expression darkened instantly.

Today's only platinum-tier passenger was—Mo Tingjue.

Even though she was assigned to the aft cabin today, she had a bad feeling he wouldn't behave.

Sure enough, when boarding began, Mo Tingjue—being a VVIP—made one specific request to the chief purser: he wanted Wen Zhi to personally serve him in First Class.

Chief Purser Xue knew he was the heroine's boyfriend. Though clearly displeased, she didn't dare risk a complaint—so she reassigned Wen Zhi to First Class.

Wen Zhi approached Mo Tingjue with the standard professional smile, but her face was visibly dark.

Mo Tingjue, however, was clearly delighted. Leaning close, he whispered,

"Xiao Zhi, you have no idea how much effort it took to get your schedule today. I—"

"Mr. Mo, do you need anything?" Wen Zhi cut him off, her tone strictly professional.

His chest tightened. She truly was cold to him now. She really didn't plan to reconcile.

But he wasn't giving up.

Back then, he used this same tactic—getting her schedules, showing up on her flights, sticking close just to make sure she noticed him.

He refused to believe it wouldn't work again.

He softened his voice.

"Xiao Zhi, I don't need anything. Don't worry—I'm not here to cause trouble. I just want to quietly keep you company. That's all."

She focused on one point: he needed nothing.

In that case, she gave a polite nod and headed back to the galley.

Just then, the cockpit door opened, and Mo Tingyan stepped out.

Seeing Wen Zhi in First Class told him everything. He had seen the passenger list too.

Without looking at Mo Tingjue, he walked straight up to Wen Zhi, leaned close to her ear, and smiled wickedly.

"I'll have a cup of coffee. Please trouble our beautiful Miss Wen?"

She shot him a helpless look—he was definitely doing this on purpose.

"All right, Captain Mo. I'll bring it to you shortly."

He reached out and ruffled her hair affectionately.

"Thank you, our obedient Miss Wen. Though… you were assigned to the aft cabin today. Why are you up here now?"

Before Wen Zhi could answer, Mo Tingjue—having witnessed the intimate gesture—felt danger explode in his mind. He immediately pressed the service button.

Work was work, so Wen Zhi approached him. Expression cool as frost, she nodded.

"Mr. Mo, how may I assist you?"

Mo Tingjue stood, blocking her path, lowering his voice so only she could hear.

"Xiao Zhi, I know I messed up. You're angry—I get it. But I still have to warn you: stay away from my brother. For your own good."

"I'm here to discuss flight services, Mr. Mo," she replied, refusing to entertain anything personal. "How can I help you?"

"Xiao Zhi…" His voice turned urgent. "Don't be like this. I'm trying to protect you. My brother isn't as simple as you think. The environment he grew up in… and his mother—"
