As the door cracks and creaks open, my heart starts to beat rapidly.
Are these the people who left the flowers?
What if its somebody else?
What if they want to hurt me?
There's no way id be able to defend myself with these injuries.
What do I do?
"Do you think he- SHANE? OH MY GOD YOU'RE AWAKE. FINALLY, WE WERE SO WORRIED!" A young girl shouts as she runs towards me.
She's no older than twenty. A gorgeous girl with green eyes and blue hair. She's dressed in a black and blue coat with a corset and skirt underneath matching the coats colours. On her waist is a dagger, curved and serrated. What is a girl like this doing with a weapon?
Behind her is a very tall man his build is slender, he looks like a gust of wind would topple him. His fingers are very long, longer than his head and they're gripping some sort of opaque glass ball. His face is ghostly. He's pale and has an expression of indifference.
Honestly he scares me.
"So, how are you feeling?" The ghoulish man says.
The girl is now right next to me, staring at me. She's too close.
What should I say?
Do i tell them how weak I feel?
They already knew my name and they haven't attacked me so I think it should be alright.
"Everything hurts man." My own words surprise me. I thought I'd have a higher pitched voice.
"Especially my head. It's really killing."
You have a hole in your chest and you're worried about your head?" The girl says confused.
What?
A hole in my chest?... no there isn't.
What is she talking about?
Still I should play along. Im the one in the dark after all.
"Haha well that too but I've got the worst headache... how long was I out for?"
"A month Shane." The man says "you were out for a whole month because of a dumb mistake." He sounds a little bit angry mixed with concern.
"He's right Shane you shouldn't have taken that job! It wasn't necessary and look at you now! What do you have to say for yourself?"
Weapons,
Injuries,
Job.
I must've been some sort of mercenary and not a good one with the quality of health care im receiving. Good to know.
"I- im sorry, you're right it won't happen again I promise."
Their faces light up. Much more than they should've. It's suspicious. All I did was agree with what they said yet they look like ive just given them money.
"Really? you mean it?" The girls smile is beaming at me.
"Yup! Never again." Im gonna remember this. Way too suspicious.
