Chapter 4 - Think

As the rotted wooden door slowly swings open, im greeted by a cobble path laying at my feet. I look to my left and this path stretches as far as my eyes can see, completely straight, bulldozing through hills and swimming over waters. I look to my right and as my head lifts, following the path along, I see that it connects to something big. Really big. The silver stones prostrate themselves in front of a behemoth castle, standing so tall it threatens to eclipse the sky in its entirety. It must be 20 kilometers wide maybe more. The buildings of this place are stationed along the cobble path, none straying from its touch as if they were soldiers bowing to their king. Bowing to the castle.

This society seems imperialistic. Its an obvious show of power to those not in command. A way of making ordinary people fear those of high positions. Those grand walls are a message, theyre screaming that we have no power to touch what's behind them.

I hate that.

I try to distract myself.

I look up.

The moon serenades the sky with its bluish-white light. Its crescent shape cradles the stars and creates an aura of coldness around it. It feels lonely, I feel like if it could speak then it would understand how I feel right now. I wonder if the moon would feel like an imposter shining light down when the sun rests as I do now. I feel like ive stolen this young man's life, taken his body away taken everything from him. Friends, job, his money, his emotions, everything that he could ever become. It doesn't feel like i've lost my memories it feels like I've taken them.

No.

I must not care about that.

Keep going.

Keep learning.

Everything else is just...

White noise.

Yeah... I'll keep it like that.

Everybody that I meet, I won't look for an emotional attachment, just information. Everything else is just white noise. Nothing else.

I am an empty cup begging to be filled.

And I plan to consume everything I must in order to complete myself. I will help the person I used to be at some point.

As long as it does not hinder me.

Now, I need to gather as much information as I can. I need a library. One filled with knowledge on history, theory, current world affairs, geography... I need everything I can get my hands on.

I look along the long cobble path amd about 200 meters to my left, across to the other side, stand a 3 story building bearing the sign of a book on its front.

Bingo.
