Chapter 6 - The library

It's quite the dainty place, this library. Almost cute.

Vibrantly coloured books placed neatly against each other atop shelves reaching from the floor to the ceiling which, by the staircase placed in the middle of the room, seems to not contain everything here. The shelves are placed uniformly against each of the walls and also in the middle, perpendicular to the back wall. There are nice little seats scattered around, some with a desk which I assume are used to put books down on or any sort of food and refreshment too.

Infront of the stairs, lay a desk its wooden and seems to be in good shape. Sitting behind it, a lady who I assume to be the librarian is working on something. Her hair is greying but still has streaks of black running through. She has purple glasses covering almost closed eyes carrying eybags that look to have been built up over a lifetime. Her face is wrinkled and looks stern however there's a certain kindness to it. She wearing a relatively plain purple dress with a silver-chained blue pendant hanging from her neck.

Our eyes meet and her face... softens?

"Shane my dear! Have you come to get away from the world again?"

How do I respond? What relationship do we have?

Its fine, be calm.

"Something like that haha! Just came to read a few books."

She looks a little confused. "Oh? You've never read anything anytime you've come here. Bored of our talks?"

Okay so she's something akin to a friend. It might seem like I've slipped up with my readon for being here but I can easily explain.

"No no no, I love our conversations! I just thought that I'd like to expand my knowledge of the world."

"Ahh." She seems happy to hear that. "So you've finally decided to listen to what ive been saying. Keep this up and maybe you'll even stop running around doing who knows what with those two hooligans."

Perfect.

"Yeahh. you were right." I hold my hands up as if defeated. "Can't go through my whole life knowing only the bare minimum."

Im pretty sure she was talking about Elaine and Drought but hooligans? I wonder what makes her say that? I should keep my guard up around those two.

"Well thats good to hear young man. Now what books would you like to read?" She beams at me with an inquisitive smile.

"Do you mind if I have a look around?"

I only say this because I don't want to misname the otherworldly force i suspect exists and incite any suspicion onto me.

"Yes of course that's okay, just dont be afraid to ask if you need any help dear!"

"Thanks! Will do!" I say with a smile.

She smiles back amd returns to whatever sort of work she was doing before I came in.

That went incredibly well. Thank fuck.

Now let me look through this place.

...

I pick up a few books as I walk around.

For geography, I pick up a green hardcover book stitched with yellow thread titled "a map of the whole world" I hope its contents are as valuable as the title is optimistic. For history, I pick up two books: a red book named "modern history" and a black book named "the history of before" I am very curious as to what the second book means by before, I hope it doesn't disappoint. Finally, I find a yellow book named "world politics of today" this one should be very helpful in blending into society.

As I walk looking for more books to read, I find the one. A hardcover white book with black stitching titled "sigilism" on the back it says in black text "a basic guide on engraving sigils and harnessing the power of the gods."

What a fucking jackpot.

Kekeke. This'll be a good read.
