The city was lively and bustling with people. The sun set high in the sky and barely any clouds littered the azure atmosphere which gave warmth to those outside in the sun's rays.
"NATIONAL EMERGENCY: C-RANK GATE INVASION"
Within a specific part of the city an alert rang through the streets in an echo, which caused many to begin running away from the area in fear. Then the ground began to shake with intensity, forming spiderweb cracks across the concrete streets & roads.
"Ugh. These gates been popping up way too frequently. What's going on?"
A masculine voice proclaimed though it was pitched in a younger tone and came from a cloaked individual who seemingly walked out from a nearby store.
"Dr.Kuro! please help!"
A civilian exclaimed in urgency to the cloaked individual announced as Kuro, earning a nod from the cloaked man.
"Just leave it to me."
Kuro exclaimed as he removed the hood from his head, revealing raven black hair with golden highlights on the side. His yellow-colored eyes observed the swirling mass of potent energy pooling from the gate, earning a raised eyebrow.
"Hm. That's way too much energy for just a C-rank gate."
Kuro exclaimed with a subtle tilt of his head as he put his finger on his chin, pondering the situation that was going on as he walked closer to the gate. Upon entering the swirling energy that contained its own separate dimension, it immediately turned pitch black in color.
.
Kuro's cloak was reverted to nothingness which revealed a black jacket on top of a grey hoodie with black jeans and combat boots. His pale face twisted into a confident smirk as he looked at the stampede of monsters that stood before him.
The dimension was an abandoned city, filled with moss that littered the buildings. Silence reigned supreme but subtle groans and roars of the occasional monster broke through, their stomping feet shaking the ground as they approached Kuro.
"This'll be fun"
Kuro proclaimed as he began walking forward with the same grin he had when he entered the gate.
Electricity danced around his right arm with crackling intensity, his yellow eyes glowed with abnormal power, and he rushed forward in a streak of golden electricity.
Quanti-Soul Art #3: Electrical Field Control
As Kuro rushed past each monster, they were struck with subtle electrical discharges that imprinted itself as an electrical charge. During his first blitz, he gave half of the monster's a positive electrical charge and upon doubling back, he imprinted a negative electrical charge to the remaining.
This act had produced an electrical field due to the constant motion of the monsters and in mere moments, each monster that had a positive charge was attracted to a monster with a negative charge thus forcing all of them to be forcefully smashed together.
"Effective but messy. time to find the boss-"
Kuro began but his sentence was cut short by a heavy metallic object slamming into his body, flinging him into the air and into a nearby building with a thunderous crash.
"Ughh. This is going to take a bit"
Kuro exclaimed with a dragged-out sigh of annoyance, tossing away the debris that smothered him and dusting himself off after standing up.
He delivered a sharp glare towards the beast that landed the powerful blow, observing as it dashed towards his location in blind rage which earned a subtle chuckle from Kuro.
"Or not..."
Flaming Sword Art #9: Blazing Comet
Kuro extended his right arm out as he leapt from out the hole in the building, a flickering trail of flames following behind him as he began his freefall towards the incoming beast.
His hand tightened into a semi-fist as if he was grabbing something and from the trailing flame, a tangible sword began to manifest in a swirl of fury.
The luminosity from the flame was bright enough to light the already lit sky and a heat like no other increased the vibration of the very molecules in the air.
Then Kuro struck.
An overwhelming flash of light & heat flushed forward like a broken dam, setting ablaze everything within the immediate area.
Soon silence followed and the destruction settled, revealing a flaming sword piercing through the chest of the beast.
"RAUUUUUUUUUUUR!"
Its piercing scream of pain broke through the silence and before it could do anything else, Kuro removed the blade with efficiency and delivered a horizontal slash that left the beast beheaded.
"I didn't think you would defeat it that easily without any magical power. I guess that's to be expected since you're its vessel."
A cold feminine voice suddenly announced from behind, causing Kuro to swiftly turn around to observe the new threat and before his eyes was a woman of profound beauty.
She was quite tall and her hair was crimson like the flames of hell, reaching down to her thighs. Her figure was slender like a finely shaped hourglass and her eyes bore the same color as her hair, yet what stood out the most were the two-protruding horns that curved around her head.
"Who Are You?"
Kuro uttered this simple question which earned a small, mocking chuckle from the lady across from him. This made him furrow his eyebrows in frustration, yet he remained cautious as they observed one another.
"I was once the light that shone upon the universe. A symbol of hope for the hopeless, the first heat against the absence of it. I am Shura Yami, the fallen Morningstar."
The women exclaimed as she introduced herself as the mythical entity only said to exist in myths. This made Kuro eyes widen in disbelief and a subtle sweat droplet to fall down the side of his forehead.
'There's no way she's THAT Morningstar. The First Heavenly goddess and first to fall, the demon queen.'
Kuro exclaimed in his mind as he instinctively took a step back, watching as a smirk graced the fallen goddess face.
"W-what business do you have with me?"
Kuro stammered out in a wary tone, his gaze focused intently on her every movement to discern if she was here to eliminate him or not.
"To finish it all"
Shura stated simply to which Kuro immediately ducked low to the ground, sensing a danger his eyes could not perceive. Then he stood back up, turning around to try and understand what it was that tried to attack him.
Before his very eyes, many of the abandoned buildings were sliced clean in half horizontally in a wide arc. This left Kuro speechless and genuinely terrified at the display of magical power.
'Shit. How am I supposed to survive against THE goddess. I haven't even fought one before!'
Kuro internally panicked as he glanced around to find a way to temporarily escape and formulate a plan to survive.
"There's nowhere to run. Accept your fate."
Shura stated in the same icy cold tone she announced herself with, her slender arms crossed over her chest and her impassive gaze set on Kuro.
"You're right, I'll just force my way out"
Kuro stated boldly which earned a surprised hum from Shura, her eyebrows slightly rising as a way to display her curiosity at the bold declaration.
Quanti-Soul Art #4: Axis Tilt
Shura crimson eyes narrowed in confusion as the very dimensional space tilted to the side at a forty-five-degree angle, forcing her to begin sliding towards the edge of the dimensional barrier that separated them from the real-world.
Kuro utilized this to enhance his freefalling speed, dashing forward at the speed of lightning. To Shura's surprise, Kuro ran directly past her and continued towards the barrier whilst sticking his tongue out in a teasing manner.
This earned Shura's ire though before she could regather her footing and adapt to the shift of this dimensional axis, Kuro appeared behind her as if he launched himself back in the same direction he ran from.
Quanti-Soul Art #1: Electrical Field Control
Kuro's fist connected with Shura's spine during the activation of his pseudo-soul art. This generated an erratic burst of golden electricity that traveled from Kuro's body itself to Shura's bio-field.
"Agh!"
A cry of pain escaped her lips as the pseudo-soul art made its way through her very atomic structure, bypassing the magical barriers that kept her from harm. Though just as Kuro's attack landed, she delivered her own counterattack.
Nether Art #1: Destruction
Before Kuro knew it, he was suddenly launched away and into the air with a numbing sensation over his entire body. He was unable to move his body yet only his eyes remained unaffected and when he glanced down, he realized that his right arm was missing.
'This isn't good'
With those thoughts echoing in his mind, he was forced to watch as crimson-black beams ripped through the air and towards him at a speed beyond human nature.
He slowly closed his eyes to make peace with his demise, but nothing came. He continued to wait for a few minutes before reopening his eyes, noticing that he was on the ground yet still unable to move.
"You good, dude?"
A masculine young voice called out to Kuro in a worried tone, allowing Kuro to get a good glimpse at him.
"Kuriko! thanks man and now I am, I thought I was a goner. How did you know I was here?"
Kuro asked the man now introduced as Kuriko, who smiled back in response.
"I was looking for-"
Kuriko's sentence was cut short by a crimson, black beam narrowly missing his head which was tilted to the side. This earned a scowl from Kuriko, forcing him to turn and face the adversary that attempted the surprise attack.
"Listen girly, I'll deal with you once I get him to safety. Just hold on for me"
Kuriko proclaimed much to Shura's irritation at being dismissed so easily, yet before she could respond to Kuriko's declaration, the said man was gone in the blink of an eye with Kuro nowhere to be seen as well.
"I see. So that's the first key."
Shura muttered to herself, waiting for Kuriko to return so she could test his prowess. Thankfully, she did not have to wait long as he reappeared just a couple meters away from her.
Kuriko was much taller than her, standing at a height of 6'2 while she herself stood at a height of 5'9. His hair was cut short and snow-white to the touch, though his eyes were crimson like her own which confirmed that he was a vessel to her former power.
"I have to show off a little bit, can't let my best friend think I'm not cool."
Kuriko exclaimed with a grin of arrogance and absolute confidence, earning a scoff of displeasure from Shura.
"Show me that power then"
Shura stated and with those words, the battle had begun. Kuriko wasted no time and appeared right in front of Shura with a swift hook infused with an unseen type of energy.
"Oh my, so you have my spatial control"
Shura uttered out in subtle shock, narrowly avoiding the hook by stepping back. She then returned the gesture by delivering a powerful and precise side kick aimed at Kuriko's ribcage.
This unfortunately was stopped by an invisible barrier, generating a shockwave that tore the very ground apart, yet it did not end there.
Kuriko spun himself around by using the momentum he already gained from the hook, lifting his leg and lashing out with his other foot to deliver a tornado kick which successfully landed on Shura's temple.
This forced the women to stagger to the side in a slight daze, her frustration growing more apparent by the furrowing of the eyebrows and her glare.
Nether Art #2: Deconstruction
With a swipe of her arm, the dimension itself flickered in and out of existence until the area occupying Kuriko had instantaneously compacted into a singular dimensional point.
"Woah, that could've killed me you know"
Kuriko exclaimed from atop a small building rooftop, his hand extended out and turning as if he was twisting a knob. Then the dimension had restored itself to its original axis, the same arrogant grin still on Kuriko face which angered Shura even more.
"Those stupid spatial party tricks won't help you defeat me-"
Shura began to rant but was suddenly cut off by a repulsive force slamming into her body, launching her into the air and through five buildings consecutively with a thunderous crash.
"Oh, just shut up already. I'm not trying to defeat you, I just bought some time so Kuro can help us escape."
Quanti-Soul Art #1: Quantum Collision
The dimension was suddenly shattered into billions of theoretical shards which revealed a glimpse of the space between dimensions. A flood of foreign memories invaded Kuro mind as if he was watching an alternate life from a third person perspective.
Then Kuriko and Kuro found themselves outside the fading gate, watching as it dispersed back into chaotic energy indicating the gate had been destroyed.
On the other hand, Kuro stood frozen in place attempting to distinguish his reality from the reality he saw. Sweat dripped down his forehead and a look of horrified realization swept across Kuro face.
"Kuriko....when I found the particle, it created a whole new universe."
