Chapter 20 - Beyond The Morning Star

"After the defeat of the end and the fall of Morningstar, seven conceptual laws of existence were given form and abstract consciousness. These entities selected special individuals throughout the multiverse to become keys to a prison beyond comprehension. Thus the 'Knights of Law' were established."

.

"Miss Ayami!"

A young boy cried out to the women in question, watching as multiple enemy helicopters swarm the massive floating mansion that touched above the clouds.

"You worry too much Nami. I am the strongest after all"

The now introduced Ayami proclaimed with a stoic expression, the shuttering winds flowing across her loose fitted hoodie adorned with a skirt. Attached behind her back and tilted at a forty-five-degree angle was a black sheathe containing a sword that was significantly shorter than a katana by at least half.

Her long, raven-black hair, fluttered against the wind which enhanced her appearance of her practical glowing pale skin that matched her soulless grey eyes.

"You're right. My apologies ma'am"

The now named Nami proclaimed with a sincere tone, slightly bowing to the girl that simply watched as the helicopters surrounded them.

"They are rather bothersome."

A lone figure stood tall on top of a high cliff that resided on a mountain. The clouds hung low from the sheer height of the mountain, the sun sat on the horizon which gave the sky a hazy orange color.

This figure was covered by a tattered robe that subtly swayed with the flow of the gentle and cool air. A small misty cloud escaped the lone figure hood from the inside, indicating the air was cooler than what it seemed to be.

Golden eyes suddenly shimmered in the light that invaded the shadow of the hood, a powerful gaze staring into the skyline that harbored the ball of plasma known as the sun.

"Ah. So, he finally did it. This might be easier now"

The lone figure stated with a voice that was strong, and a masculine baritone which held authority beyond nature and danced along with the whistling wind.

The man held out his right arm which exuded a subtle golden mist which bypassed the material structure of the cloth. Suddenly, a golden light became visible for just a fraction of a second and the cloaked man was gone.

.

It has been three months since Kuro's battle with Iya, eventually managing to defeat the overwhelmingly powerful foe by just a hair's length. This display had changed Miyah's opinion of Kuro drastically and the two became even closer than before.

"Kuro. You've undoubtedly gotten stronger since your fight with Iya, but don't let that get to your head. You might be strong but your still not the strongest."

Miyah exclaimed with an indifferent expression; her tone was strict as if warning Kuro to not be overly confident despite his increased prowess, her slender hands were placed firmly on her hips as she spoke this.

"C'mon Miyah, after everything that's happened, I don't think anyone will be messing with us no time soon"

Kuro exclaimed with a smile that screamed arrogance, his calculating golden eyes peering into Miyah's uncanny azure-colored eyes. This declaration made Miyah sigh and began walking away, her indifferent expression still on her face.

"You seem to lack awareness of your situation. You are a target, Kuro. The type of target that is being hunted by individuals with intellect and power exceeding your current understanding."

Miyah explained as Kuro walked steadily beside her, a small grin on his face as she explained the predicament he was in.

"You misunderstand. This is the most thrill I've had in my life, let them come."

Kuro exclaimed with a tone that held an underlying message. Kuro was not afraid; in fact, he encouraged it all and he knew the moment the demon queen attacked him, his mere existence defied all that was.

Miyah looked on with a subtle expression of shock at Kuro's statement, turning her head to look at him for just a few seconds to gauge his mindset.

"Right. I guess I can give you a hint to who's coming after you next. She's the epitome of magic."

.

"So that's the boy who managed to defeat Iya. interesting, to defeat the embodiment of physical force is nothing short of amazing. I'll observe him for just a bit more~"

A Feminine voice proclaimed from the sky, unheard by Kuro but noticed by Miyah. It was teasing yet held a sadistic nature to it, sending shivers down Kuro spine despite being unaware of another presence very high above him.

.

"Okay we're here. We'll be working on your close quarter combat skills and attempt to achieve Aether control. For now, show me how good you are with those hands."

Miyah exclaimed as they eventually reached an open field that stretched for miles, surrounded by mountains far in the distance that reached the peak of the clouds.

Wasting no time, Kuro sped forward with a grin and closed the distance between them in moments. Unfortunately, Kuro had no time to initiate the first strike, and his face was met with the bottom of Miyah's boot.

This counterattack had forced Kuro to stagger back, which slightly impressed Miyah due to Kuro instinctively slowing himself down at the last second to avoid being sent crashing into the ground.

"How about we put your life on the line since you don't seem to have any sense of urgency"

Miyah uttered with her arm crossed over her chest, lowering her leg after delivering the counterattack. Then Kuro found himself avoiding lethal spikes that were constructed of ice, narrowly avoiding the relentless onslaught that froze the very ground around him.

'It's like she's barely wasting any soul energy.'

Kuro exclaimed in his mind as he narrowly avoided another ice spike, this time he dashed forward and leapt into the air.

"Not bad"

Miyah exclaimed as Kuro came crashing down with one leg extended out in a dragon kick, reinforced with soul energy that exuded a golden hue.

"Thanks"

Kuro replied to the compliment and as his foot made contact with some type of surface, the area exploded in a violent storm of dust and debris.

Miyah was then seen leaping from out the cloud of dust unharmed and a small smile on her face, lifting both arms up. Immediately after this gesture, Kuro sped out of the dust cloud and his fist made contact with Miyah's arms that guarded her face.

Miyah then responded by pushing against Kuro's outstretched fist, opening her guard and flipping her body forward at an unnatural speed as if she was moving her very center of gravity along the spatial axis.

This allowed her to perform an axe kick with precision and swift speed, the heel of her foot slamming onto Kuro's head with a thunderous echo. Then his body struck the ground in a blur, uplifting even more debris and dust.

"Woah! how did you do that?"

Kuro asked as the dust settled, standing up with minor injuries and a cheeky smile on his face.

"That's a secret you'll learn someday. Now, retry."

Miyah exclaimed as she landed with grace, the sound of her feet barely audible as she touched the ground.
