Kane's POV
He collapsed the moment I pulled the dagger out of his chest. He appeared desperate to reach Aurora – maybe he recognized her.
"Tsk!" Rod sucked his teeth.
"I wanted to be the one to kill him. Fucking zombies,"
"Are you —"
The words hung on my tongue when I felt a scorching sensation on my neck. The feeling ran through my spine like a cold and I wasn't the only one who felt it.
Rod instantly unsheathed his dagger as we turned to the source of such terrifying aura — Aurora. Her face was pale, her eyes were lifeless as she held on to the hand of the Purifier. She mumbled words to herself, her grip on the dead man's hand slowly tightened.
I could hear his bones crushing as blood drizzled down his arm.
"Aurora?" Rod called out. I was confused, I had never felt such hatred before. The energy covered the room like darkness.
"Are you good?"
