Chapter 8 - NOW A BLISS

Tricia POV

I tried to hear what my brother had done but heard nothing as Alonso kept his mouth mute afterward. It could only mean that Alex had done something irrational.

Focusing, I climbed the staircase to the room. Getting in, I found my way to the bed only to be woken by a tap. My eyes flew open and I looked at the man standing close to me. I rubbed my eyes before getting a glimpse of his eyes. It was Morgan.

Immediately, I sat on the bed, looked at Morgan, and asked what he wanted.

"Come down, we are ready to eat," he said.

Pain washed over me as I thought of what he said. My heart was troubled as I needed to cook for them all. Am I a maid?

Like he knew my thoughts, he pulled me close to himself, telling me that I wasn't cooking as they ordered already-cooked food. I got up and walked out of the room.

My heartbeat hastened as I saw many of them look at me like I had done something wrong to them.

"Take your seat," Morgan said, pulling a chair for me.

I opened the food, and it reminded me of when my parents were still alive. Mother was fond of making this, and it was my best, although Alex didn't like it. Morgan smiled, looking at me, and only then did I remember that I was smiling.

My phone began to ring, and I picked it up, excusing myself from the table. It was my best friend, Mary Loyd, also my cousin. She told me how confused she was when she discovered that I had left with my husband. I told her of all that happened.

"He isn't meant to be a Loyd," she scream. "Alex is so frustrating."

We spoke for some minutes then she wished me good luck. I retreated to join the rest and sat close to Morgan. Alonso asked me who it was, and after mentioning her name, he told me that he didn't want to ever hear the name Loyd from me.

"But I am also a Loyd," I protested.

"Only their puppet," I couldn't believe my ears, but before I could reply, Morgan spoke up, saving Alonso's ass. He reminded us that we are meant to eat and not argue.

Silently, we ate. When I was done eating, I got up to go to the room but Morgan stopped and instructed me to throw all the plastic into the trash can.

"Tomorrow, I will be taking her to the real house," I heard Morgan say.

The young men hailed him as he made an end to this statement.

"Tricia Bliss," someone called, but I kept walking not knowing that the person was calling me.

"You are now a Bliss, not a Loyd," Morgan said, blocking my way, and I nodded.

A smile formed on his face as he kept looking at me. I told him to leave which he obeyed, making me amazed.

In the room, I busied myself, playing on my phone. I didn't know when Morgan entered the room.

"Just sleep," He said in an order-like tone, but I stared at him.

He pulled a chair towards me, cupped my cheek, spoke to me for some minutes, and then left.

I walked to the door but discovered it had been locked from outside. The only thing I could do was to hit the door, calling out my husband's name. It felt like the door was soundproof.

After some minutes of calling without a reply, I walked to the bed. My eyes caught with a large book on the couch, and I walked to it. The book had so many titles, but the first was Betrayers. I opened the page and began reading.

Alex's name was listed on the fiftieth number. I stared again and saw my father's name on the fortieth number. This made me wonder if they had a hand in my parents' death.

Before I could weep, I heard a key on the door and immediately dropped the book, returned to the bed, and maintained my posture.

"Morgan!" I called.

"Didn't you sleep?" he asked, but I chose not to reply to him.

He walked to a little cabin, and unlocked it, bringing out a book. He told me to get some rest and left. I kept wondering what was up with him but came up with nothing.

My name was called, and I walked out of the room only to see them laughing. They all looked at me.

"You should dance for us," I couldn't believe my ears, but what could I do when Morgan nodded?

I started dancing as told. The music changed to a wild song making me remember my boyfriend. I haven't called him. How is he going to feel when he discovers that we can't be together?

It wasn't that I deeply related to him but we loved each other. Morgan had told me that Alex didn't sell me off for money but married me off for money.

My heart beat faster as I danced. Next, I knew I was finding myself in the room as I opened my eyes.

"Let Mr. Bliss know that she is awake," someone dressed like a nurse said to a lady who looked my age.

She looked at me and rubbed my hand telling me that I was only weak from stress. Did Morgan know about this when he told me to rest? I guess he knew.

I looked at the woman and asked her who she was but before she could reply, Morgan came in.

"Tricia, you scared the hell out of me."

"How did you know that I was weak?" I asked.

"Your body shows it." The woman left the room leaving us.

Morgan looked at me, and began to laugh, confusing me. He told me to recover quickly for the next day's journey. I paused my lip and looked at him as he left. There was nothing special about him.

Alonso walked to the room and leaned by the door way looking at me. He asked after my health and gave me his comforting words. I felt so cherished that my husband cared about me but behaved weirdly sometimes.
