Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Davien was stunned speechless by the amount displaced on the screen. Ten billion dollars. All his own money? What the hell!

Could it be true all along, that the strange lady wasn't lying to him? Was it true that he was truly an important person?

"He seems to be well off after all." He heard someone say behind him.

"I hate to admit it, but this young is surely not homeless."

Davien could see that all those who were jeering at him earlier, were now on his side. That's humans. Quickly switching sides as long as money was involved. He didn't care about them.

He quickly plucked the card out of the machine before anyone would take a peak at the balance of the card. He turned and started picking up all the remnants of the twenty thousand dollars.

When he was done picking, his haunting eyes scurried through the crowd until he saw the security man who was trying to leave.

"Where do you think you are going?" He called at the man.

Realizing that he has been caught by Davien, the formerly hostile man wielded a strange smile at him.

"I'm sure we can overlook the differences and call this even." The man appeased.

"Of course, we can." Davien nodded as he removed one of his shoes.

The smile of the man turned sour when he saw Davien reaching out the dirty large shoe coated in mud and what looked like dung.

"But after you lick my shoe clean!!!" His face was grim.

When he realised that the man wouldn't comply easily, he shoved his shoe into the man's mouth, making sure that the man had a mouthful of dung, mud and humiliation.

Partially satisfied by the outcome, he decided to leave the premises because he was beginning to attract a lot of attention.

When he had walked a length away from the bank, he came to a stop.

"If this card is worth ten billions, then I can't imagine what lies ahead." He brought out his phone.

It was an old iPhone 6 with cracked screen that lagged at every touch. After struggling for a while, he finished typing the number on the card and dialed.

But no matter the number of times he had called the number, no reply came from the other end. Then he gave up.

.....

Flora Hulbert headed to her room for some rest after a strenuous day at work.

It was a ritual of hers to check her phone whenever she walked in. Checking her phone, she saw a missed call. She had dropped the phone before something occurred to her.

"It's him!!!" She exclaimed, as soon as she came to a conclusion.

This was not a hard guess for her. There was only one number that was allowed to call this line, other call access have been blocked on the line. She had done this because when her Master finally calls, she'll instantly know he was the one.

Now seeing that her master has finally called, and she wasn't there, she was scared witless. She had expected his call all week but nothing came, so she didn't expect that he would call all of a sudden.

She dialed his number but he didn't answer. She tried again and again, until her thumb ached.

"He must be mad at me. He will have my head on a platter." She panicked, shaking vigorously.

....

The air in the living room of the Benjamin Villa bubbled. There were the combinations of bottles of wine paired with hearty smiles and laughter.

What was the occasion? Of course the eviction of the most useless son-in-law in the world, Davien Ghys.

"I couldn't even stand another second of him being around." Khloe curled, returning with another bottle of wine.

"Would you like more wine, Vincent dear?" Lydia gracefully looked at her son-in-law to-be.

"Just a glass more, mother." Vincent replied with a bow and a soft smile.

"But I'll be the one pouring for everyone." He stood up and started pouring wine in the glasses of everyone.

Anna looked to have a better mood after the nuisance that her ex-husband had caused. She was trying to drink the ugly thoughts away and relish in the presence of her handsome crush and husband-to-be.

"I'll hold you glass, darling." Vincent offered to Anna. "We can't afford wine spilling on a princess."

As he remarked, Anna blushed red, giggling.

"Awn. What a match made in heaven." Khloe chimed in.

Both Vincent and Anna laughed at the comment of Khloe.

"I feel so happy that the leech is finally gone." Lydia openly remarked. "He has done nothing but drag this family down with his bad luck."

"I feel quite bad for Anna." Vincent said. "Having to put up with a waste of a man like that must be so tough." He turned to Anna. "You're such a wonderful person, darling."

"Thank you, Vincent." She smiled back. "But let's stop talking about the loser. We should be having fun, not letting ugly memories ruin it."

"That's right." Khloe quickly jumped in. "Speaking of good memories, I can't wait for the wedding of the both of you. It will be in the news for three months straight. You'll surely be the talk of the town. The power couple." She giggled.

Vincent stole a glance at Anna and she blushed again.

"Silly." Lydia suddenly snapped.

All three shifted their attention in her direction, clueless about what just happened.

"How could you talk about something like that with my father on the sickbed? That's rather insensitive." She scolded openly.

"Oh, sorry, mother." Vincent quickly replied. "I'm sure that Khloe didn't mean it that way. She must have been just too excited."

Khloe was eternally grateful to Vincent. He was always standing up for her. He was definitely the best brother-in-law in the world. Compared to the trash who didn't even have a money of his own.

"How is he doing, mother?" Vincent asked.

"He's not getting better. I just got back from visiting him." She replied.

Lydia didn't really care about the wellbeing of her father. She just couldn't stand the sight of her children wishing death on her father. She could do that all by herself.

"Whatever happens, Anna will eventually be pronounced the heir of the Benjamin family." Lydia affirmed.

Everyone deeply agreed with her.

"Speaking of heir, Anna darling, will you go with me to the Machkerson family charity event organized by the Lady Phoenix?" Vincent asked. "Mr Stanley is my friend and he's the face of the family that the Lady Phoenix had appointed to oversee the event."

The Lady Phoenix was a very powerful figure in the country. Every woman in the country looked up to her. This year, the Machkerson family had appointed the Lady Phoenix to organize the event, because just as usual, the heir of the family was yet to return.

"Omg, Anna, this is a great offer..." Khloe was more excited than the invited.

Anna was just about to give a reply, when suddenly the door opened and a strange figure walked in.

"Davien?!" Lydia was the first to see him.
