Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

"I have no idea why Anna is still kind to a nuisance like you!!!" Khloe yelled at Davien.

Davien struggled to pick some of his clothes that had fallen out of the tattered bag when he was thrown into the street. He decided not to think much of the constant offensive comments of Khloe and Vincent.

"If you dare to come any close to this gate again, I'll make sure to turn your legs inside out!!" Vincent's roar came haunting him.

After the two had had enough of yelling at him, they left him in the cold, dressed in a cleaning clothes, struggling to get back on his feet.

He reached to pick up the last piece of his clothes that had fallen from the bag. It was a pant. Something dropped from the pant as he was about to shove it inside the bag.

"Oh." He muttered, taking a break from the gloomy thoughts.

In his hand was the black card that he had collected from the strange lady whom he met on his way home from the grocery store. He slid it inside his pocket then walked away.

He tried so much not to think about everything he had had to put up with in that family. How he would wake up four in the morning everyday to prepare all the meals of the family members.

It usually got worse on the day of their anniversary, there was always a way for her to ruin it no matter how much effort he put into it. Speaking of anniversary, a bitter smile curled up his lip. Today was supposed to be their anniversary.

Honk! Honk! A loud sound jolted him out of his thoughts.

"Fucking asshole! Go drop in the lagoon if you are tired if living!!!" A roar came with the car that just drove past him.

The man in the car was reaching his head out with one of his hands shoving the middle finger in his way. It took Davien a moment to understand what was happening.

Looking down at himself, he realised that he was in the middle of the road and had just escaped death by an arms length.

There were other people along the street who stood there shaking their heads at him as though he was a pathetic person.

"Being homeless must be so hard that he wants to commit suicide." A lady who was walking past him said. "I wish I had a dollar to spare."

Davien's spirit was so vexed by the remark that he almost spilled a tear, but he shook his head. He shook the odd thoughts off and then realised that he was very thirsty. It must be from the constant argument he had with those crazy family members.

Lifting his gaze, there was a convenience store in sight. He walked in and picked a bottle of water.

"That would be 1.25." The young lady at the counter said.

Not until after he had dug his hand through all the pockets in his clothes did he realise that he didn't have any cash on him.

"How about you dig your hand in your balls? Perhaps you'll find some cash!" The lady was losing it.

"I'm sorry. I thought I had some cash on me." He muttered in embarrassment.

"I bet you also think that you have a roof on your head." She scoffed. "Security!!!"

A big man, about seven feet appeared and moved towards Davien.

"I'll leave by myself, but please let me have one bottle. I'll pay la---"

"Too late." The man bundled him up like a grocery bag.

Shove! Into the street he threw Davien. Crack! He thought that perhaps he had broken his back. It was when he looked that he noticed that it was one of the wheels of the bag that cracked.

He strode along the open street like a nobody. He had gotten to the end of the tunnel but there was no light waiting. He was dejected, thirsty and humiliated. The ray of hope that he thought he had was after all an illusion.

Suddenly, a thought appeared in his mind.

"The card." He muttered, instantly sorting through his pocket for the card.

He brought it out and stared at it. It was when he observed closely that he discovered that the card was 2-in-1. Meaning that it not only worked as business card, but as a credit card.

"This can't get any worse. The last thing that would happen is getting kicked out again." He nodded confidently.

Luckily enough when he looked around, he saw a bank not far from eyeshot. He quickly walked to the bank.

"Hold it, there." An unpleasant voice came in his direction.

There was a uniformed man walking into his path. It was no hard guess. It was a security worker at the bank.

"Where do you think you are going?" The man asked, despicably looking at Davien from his head to toe.

"Are you blind? Can't you see a card in my hand?" Davien had had enough of the humiliation.

"A homeless man with an attitude?" The security man was having a laugh.

Davien didn't care about the insult. He was determined to enter. He pushed forward to access the entrance.

"Do not make me put my hands on you, Young man!" The security man's face has grown grim.

"I'm a customer here! What are you talking about?" Davien refused to back down.

"Face the reality, man. Look at yourself and be the judge. Why would anyone want you in their building?" A young lady cursed at him.

Seeing that everyone was against him, Davien decided to think of a way.

"How about we make a deal?" He said to the security man.

"A deal?" The man scoffed? "A deal with a hobo?"

"If I'm unable to withdraw twenty thousand dollars on the spot, do whatever you want with me!" Davien was determined.

"What! This fellow must be deranged." Someone exclaimed. "Not even I, a banker, can withdraw that much on a spot. I think you're begging for the easiest way to die."

"Are you sure?" The security man asked, looking at Davien as a lunatic.

"What do you stand to lose?" Davien was determined.

Thinking about it, Davien was right. The security didn't stand to lose anything.

"You can go." He said to Davien.

"But if I'm able to withdraw the money." Davien added. "Then you'll lick my shoes!"

Nobody took Davien's words seriously so they allowed him. In fact, people moved out of the queue to see where this was headed.

Davien slid the card in and input the four digit on the side. He typed the amount and waited.

Ping! Twenty thousand dollars came pouring like a stream at him. He was shocked by this but had other concerns.

He could hear the people marveling but didn't care about them for now.

He quickly clicked on the 'Check Balance' button and waited for a moment.

Balance Loaded;

$10, 000, 000, 000
