Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Battered and tattered in the hands of the rough cops, Davien was dragged to the police station, his face swollen and his eyes marked with black circles.

"Make sure he doesn't see the light of the day ever again!!" Vincent roared through the police station.

Khloe also followed. She had been asked to stay back, but she refused. She wanted to make sure that Davien was eternally damned to suffer.

"You dare to hit me? You'll never be able to raise those miserable hands of yours again!" Khloe screamed as the gate shut in Davien's face.

The Sheriff, Vincent and Khloe stood directly in front of the prison bars, staring at Davien who was engulfed by the darkness of the prison.

"I want him to rot in there, Sheriff." Vincent urged. "Look at what he did to my sister-in-law! He deserves to die! You owe me this own."

The Sheriff nodded firmly as he stared at Vincent. Shifting his gaze to look at Davien, a shade of rage shot in.

"I assure you, Mr Vincent. When I'm done with him, you'd beg me to release him." The Sheriff's eyes held a degree of ire.

"Never! I'd rather jump off a cliff than have an iota of pity for this faggot!!!" Vincent roared.

"This is your last, Davien. Rot for good!!!" Those were Khloe's last words as the three of them turned to leave.

Left alone in the gloomy prison-half was Davien, too weak to stand on his feet. He had taken a lot of punches to several areas of his body. At one point, he thought that he would go blind.

There was only one tiny ray of sun that shimmered through the doty hole at the top of the prison, leaving a speck of illumination far from where eyes could trace.

Davien sat there with his back against the wall as he reminisce how things had gone south in the blink of an eye. He clasped the necklace in his palm, grateful that he didn't lose it to the madness.

This family was evil. A chip-off-old-block of Hades.

After an hour has passed, he was slowly feeling better and could think straight now. Then he remembered that according to the law, upon arrest, the arrested has the right to make a phone call.

"Excuse me! Hey!!!" He called at the top of his voice, leaning against the bars of iron.

Soon enough, one of the police officers appeared with a deadly glare, "What?"

"I want my phone back. I want to make a call. That is my right." Davien was emphatic with his demands.

"What's happening?" The voice of the Sheriff came knocking.

"This clown says that he wants to make a call." The officer scoffed.

The sheriff, broad and imposing, stared down at Davien,

"Let me hear one more word from you. Just one more word and you would be thrown into the hole with death-row in-mates!!!" He swore bitterly.

The Sheriff and the Officer stormed off.

If only the Sheriff had allowed him to make a call, he could have tried calling the strange lady again. Perhaps he would be lucky this time.

Another hour has passed and right now, Davien was feeling very dizzy. The clot of blood in his eyes were getting bigger, almost blurring his sight. His tongue was dry and it felt like he would collapse if he goes another minute without water.

"Hey! Excuse me! I need water, please!!!" He called with all the strength left in him.

"Who is the dog barking?" An officer came to him.

"Water, please. Please, help me." This wasn't the moment to argue or fight.

"Okay. Give me a second." The officer walked away.

"Here." The officer returned with a bottle of an unsealed water.

When Davien took the bottle of water, he could smell something funny, but he didn't care because he was about to die from thirst.

With the level of haste and desire that he gulped the water, did he puke it. It tasted sour and bad, like fermented bile.

"What the hell is this?!!!" Davien yelled in frustration.

The officer was laughing really hard as Davien struggled for dear life.

"I have been holding the urine for an hour now. It was worth it." The officer scoffed as he walked away whistling.

Urine? The officer just offered him a bottle of urine? Davien could die now. All hope was lost for him.

Several hours have passed as he lie on the cold floor, with a string of breath left in his lungs. If he shut his eyes now, it might be for good.

There was no one coming to help him. His cursed fate. Nothing has ever gone well for him. From an accident to a cruel family. Aside these memories, the other part of his brain was cloudy.

And now, his eyes were shutting too, earnestly calling for gloom...

"Hey..." A whisper suddenly came. "Your phone is ringing."

Davien didn't want another prank, so he didn't care.

"Strange lady. She's calling." The whisper got louder.

Upon hearing what the officer had just said, Davien struggled and crawled to take the phone.

"I'm at Donman District. Please come." Davien pleaded.

Hardly had he finished talking on the phone when a roar came tearing down the hallway.

"Who took his phone?" It was the Sheriff. He had heard a phone ringing, but before he could get there it was missing.

When he saw Davien with the phone and saw an officer with him, it was an easy guess.

"That's it! To the hole!" The Sheriff yelled. "Let those beasts devour you."

The good officer dropped on his knees as the Sheriff dragged Davien out and towards the hole like a garbage bag.

After a long walk, he got to the hole and was about to lift the heavy lid when a sudden cry came on the public speaker.

"Sheriff. Flora Hulbert is here."

Suddenly the Sheriff was grounded to the spot. There was only one Flora Hulbert in the country. What was she doing here?

"What is a esteemed visitor like you in my lowly station?" Sheriff cowered, bowing as he saw Flora.

"Where is he?" Flora asked. "Where is my master?" She ignored him, walking past him.

When she finally came to see Davien in the state he was, she crumbled to her knees in tears, holding his legs,

"I deserve to die." She wailed.

"What is happening, Miss Flora---" Sheriff tried to understand what was happening.

Suddenly, Flora removed her one of her heels and swung her hand, burying the heel of the shoe in one of the Sheriff eyes, "You're dead." She declared.

As though she did nothing, she quickly turned back to Davien.

"Please, come with me. I'll take you the hospital." Flora weeped.

"No, take me home." Davien denied and she obediently complied.

After an hour of drive and a yatch cruise, they arrived at a lush Island. On which was situated the most envied and priceless empire that belonged to the world's richest family, The Machkerson family.

When they finally arrived at the front of the gigantic mansion in a super luxury car, the door of the mansion opened to reveal several men dressed in black suits and gorgeous ladies in plain gowns,

"Welcome home, Young master." They all fell on their faces.

Including Flora Hulbert.
