The world turned black.
Cold water clings to Sunny's skin, pulling him further and further below its surface.
A creeping sensation of claustrophobia was spreading inside of him. The dark water itself seems to suppress him.
He could not even see anything around him axcept fore pure darkness. Not even his new perception worked. Wich was to be expected. He could see very far and see what noone else saw, but he could not see in the dark.
His lung already started to hurt. Not because of his lack of air but because of the water pressure.
'Fast, I wont be able to hold out much longer!'
But he still did not know where he was, where up and down was or how far below he was.
Sunny quickly blew up a bit of air to sense and swimm in the direction it would float.
Even with his limited air supply did he manage to reach the surface.
Thanks to his innate ability he was not really exhausted. Maybe a bit out of breath, but not tired.
to his misfortune he still was not able to see anything.
'What the spell is this? I just left the water and still cant see.'
The darkness reminded him of something.
'There also is no light here.'
Right now it was supposed to be night in the dream realm. But complete darkness such as this is a sign of a complete lack of light. That mean there are no stars, no moon, and maybe not even a sun.
For a second Sunny thought he landed in the black forest but quickly shut down that idea.
'The water there was much more terrifying.'
The problem of darkness was growing ever more evident the more time passed.
He did not know where to swimm, he could not see anything, and he did not know what abominations where sorrounding him, swimming in the water.
Sunny could only hope he would reach solid ground anytime and avoid all the monsters inhabiting the ocean.
The water was calm, still. But swimming in it for a long period was still hard, he wont be able to continue indefinitely.
"Splash."
The first thing breaking the silence of night was a splash.
Panic sprouted in the heart of Sunny.
'A nightmare creature!' He thought in panic.
He had nowhere to escape to and no chance of survival if confrontated with a creature.
A second later a louder, much louder splash resounded in the lightless world.
It was almost insulting to call it a splash. It was more of a rumbling thunder, splitting the world in two.
Then came the shockwave.
A wave of water pushed Sunny away. The crash was just meters away from him.
The force was enought to send him tumbling in the air, until he hit something solid.
'Argh'
Thankfully only his back hit this solid object, scraping it in the process.
Adrenaline filled him, ignoring the pain he climed, reaching the top of watever stopt his crash.
The Tuch of smooth, slippery rock filled him with relief.
'Finally!' He thought while gasping for air.
'That was close.'
'The abomination! What did it try to do? Was it going to attack me? Is it going to attack me?'
Both Sunny's mind and heart were racing, both from the shock of what happened and because of the adrenaline.
'What am I standing on. It's a smooth, rocky surface. Maybe an island?'
"Splash!"
Another splash rung out in the air, this louder then any before.
Torrents of water surged in the air, much of it landing on Sunny.
The smooth, weathered rock did not help him hold onto it.
"Fuck!" He shouted while being pushed over the edge.
While trying to climb up he thought:
'There is a battle. Some hellish abominations are battening near me. That wave before was just a byproduct.'
After getting pushed down again by another wave of water Sunny summoned his only memory.
A storm of yellow sparks materialized itself in form of a transparent thread.
During his time in the academy Sunny learned a lot about survival and his aspect, but also about his only memory.
It allowed him to form a string of connection with somebody or something.
Professor Julius helped him find out about its function. It had two enchantments, one passiv and one activ.
The passiv enchantments let him bind himself or any other person with somebody or something else. Connecting himself to somebody would let him communicate with them through their minds. He also could change its size and transparency.
The activ enchantment would make him able to share essence with the one connected to.
But if he connected himself with an object, he could practecally glue himself to it.
Sticking to the slippery surface of stone, Sunny confronted the waves of the fight.
After a few hours a last wave struck him. Just before that a loud scream could be heard.
And then it was quiet again. Not a single sound except for waves crashing against rock could be heard.
Sunny did not dare sleep. What if a creature came to his mound?
After a long while of solitude and thoughts another sound approached.
A deep rumbling swallows the world.
The first rays of sunlight appear at the same time.
Then Sunny really was shocked.
'The dark sea is retreating?'
Tens of thousands of coral spikes pierce its surface. The water flows away at incredible speed. A mere minute later it disappeared completely.
What was left is the unending labyrinth of blood red coral.
Sunny watched awestruck. He could see further then normal people could, and in so kuch more detail.
That's why he saw hundreds of chitin covered monsters crawling on the coral labyrinth.
The corps of a huge whale was sitting atop of it. It's size rivaled half the sleeper compound of the academy. Half its stomach was ripped out.
And a myriad of crab-centaurs were running to it, eating bits of it's fat and flesh.
Somewhere else he saw a giant headless statue.
'I've never hear of any place in the dream realm like this.'
'Crimson coral, a dark, retreating ocean, crab centaurus and huge headless statues.'
Then the reality of his observation hit him like a hammer to his face.
'Im in an undiscovered part of the dream realm.'
"Damn you fated."
The only reason a place like this is unknown to him is that no one has ever returned from here.
Sunny was nothing if not cautious.
'I'll never step down there before I know what's up with that sea.'
And then he remembered something important.
'Damnation, I'm naked!'
He had no amor memory in an aquatic region. It's the best way to become sick.
He spent the entire day waiting and observing, not stepping down. And knitting himself clothes out of seaweed.
When the sun hid behind the horizon the dark sea reappeared and drowned the vast expanse of the coral labyrinth.
'They are coming.' He thought.
The dark sea is drowning everything, even the creatures. And they seek shelter from the water.
The sound of pincers hitting against rock echoed in the quiet of night.
'Two of those overgrown crabs are coming up.'
But Sunny had not wasted his time. With the help of his aspect he observed these creatures, fearing this would happen.
And he prepared for it. Some of the creatures eating the whale fought each other. Sunny observed this and found out a few weaknesses.
'The soft tissue between their joints and the chitin below their heads are weaknesses.'
The only weapon to defend himself was a string. A sharp, ascendant string, that can change its size and is nearly Invisible.
'The stone plateau is nearly flat so I can't use it to trip them.'
Sunny elongated the string and bound it near the edge.
'I really am crazy.' He thought for coming up with his plan.
When the first pincer reached the edge of the platformand stepped onto it, a string circled its neck, growing tight and kicking him of the platform.
Sunny used the string to circle one of the abominations necks and jumped down the plateau.
The second crab was still farther below, crashing into the first one and falling into the water with a loud splash.
Sunny and the first scavenger are falling in the direction of the water. Only Sunny was attached to the string and not being cut by it.
He could never cut them with his own strength. But the strength of gravity could help.
The weight of the carapace and Sunny was tightening the string by the second. And with a sudden thud the head fell off. Following was the body of the creature and a crash of water.
