Chapter 15 - Lobotomizing Scavengers

Memory: [Cretenous Halbert]

Memory rank: Awakened

Memory typ: Weapon

Memory description: [The weapon that once pierced the sky to illuminate it.]

'A halbat?'

It sounded iteresting but he had no clue what it was.

A two meter long polearm weapon with a head that combines an axe, a spear point , and a hook appeared out of the storm of sparks.

The handle is made of a pale grey wood with green streaks running down the wood. All the blades were made of the same chitin that composed the scavengers exoskeleton.

'its huge.' He thought to himself.

The halbert is much bigger than he himself was, but it was way to light. The bone spear he picked up just a few minutes ago was onlky half as long but weight more.

'How is such a light weapon supposed to do any damage?'

He still had something to try. He could absorb soul fragments by killing, but what said he cant absorb them by crushing the shard.

When swinging the tall weapon something wierd happened. The weight was incresing while swinging.

The weight of it was to much for him, he had to drop it, even before hitting the creature.

The carapace of the beast broke easily with a loud crack-

The muscile tissue almost broke with the same ease.

'Is this thing trying to kill me?'

'If I had not dropt it, it could have ripped my arms off.'

Both his arms were numb with pain. The left arm that was supporting its weight was the worst. purple marks were growing bigger on his arm.

It burned like hell, but only for a short while. The sensation grew familiar enough for him to ignore it.

But the shell of it was broken. he could search for the soul shard now.

After a few moments hereached it, ripped it out and climped out of the body.

'It was warm.' He thought, reflecting the last nights.

'Disgusting but warm.'

The night on the stone platform were agonizingly cold without any amor typ memory, but not cold enough for him to climp inside a corps.

'i will never sleep inside a corps.' He thought. 'Hopefully.'

"Anyway, lets see if I can absorb this ball of light."

He increased the pressure in his hand and soon enough the shard broke.

[Your soul grows brighter]

He was ecstatic. Joy fillig his body washing away all his fatigue.

'I can get double the soul fragments any other person would.'

Then another thought filled his mind.

'I really haver to drink and eat something.'

Humans could survive three day without water and seven days without food.

He, after conquering his first nightmare could survive a bit longer. But the same problem still stands.

'I can cook the food, but water? How can I desalinate water here?'

It is impossible for him. He did not have the right equpment for it, and the environment did not help either.

looking at the blue blood of the abomination Sunny gulped.

'I guess I have no other chance.'

With disgust evident, he drank the azure blood that piled up on a chitin plate.

The blood was thick and bitter, a bit salty but not undrinkable.

After the first few sips he gagged.

'Its disgusting.' He thought, 'Too disgusting.'

But he had to do it. WHat other way did he have to obtain water?

Drinking just anyones blood is never a good idea, and he found this out quick enough.

His mouth and throat felt numb, as if he swallowed sandpaper. Breathing was getting just a bit harder.

Still shivering from the aftertast he sliced pieces of flesh from the corpse.

'The weight is nnot nearly getting as heavy as before. But what is the difference?.'

'it velocity.' He noticed.

The faster the blade gets, the heavier it gets.

Its a destructiv enchantment. Maybe the best one he could get for pure destructiv power.

The farthest end of any weapon has the greatest exceleration. A two meter long weapon could reach a speed of 70-100 meters a second.

This combined with an enchantment that enhances the weight in dependent of velocity has huge potential.

'If only it would not rip apart my arms.'

Storing the pieces of meat and driftwood in a self made pouch, he climbed to his hideout and started cooking.

'I have not been long out there, the sea wont come back for atleast another six hours.'

Following the teachings of his dear teacher, Sunny had constructed a sundial on his first day. He checked what time the sea would come and leave to build a time plan.

Soon the meat was cooked and devoured. There still were four hours for him to catch another one of those overgrown crabs, or search a way through the labyrinth.

'The island with the fire yesturday is three island away. i hope I can catch them before they get too far away.'

Back on the ground he looked for the enterance of the coral labyrinth.

'The scavenger is still there.'

There was not much of anything around him, no movement since his fight.

'The labyrinth feel wierd, as if its influencing my senses.'

'The pasage is wide, wide enough for two of those scavengers to want through, but it still feels narrow.'

The crimson passage way were empty, exploring the many differnt directions he met not one crab.

Only after facing a deadend did he hear something.

Cursing in his mind he hid behind a wall.

'The scavanger is coming closer.'

To his luck there was no way to escape.

Not having a chance except to fight, he summoned his halbert.

Seconds later his eye emerged from it.

To his surprise the white strings of his mind moved towards it.

A pale glow was sorrounding it.

Sudden disgust and fear filled him.

'Why are there strings all over the coral?'

The entire labyrinth was covered in the darkest and most chaotic darkness he has ever seen.

At least the darkest mind he has seen. The corruption of the twilight beats was in a league of its own.

Normally the darkness would not have caused such a reaction, but the amount of it was terrifying.

'The maze itself is a creature!' His mind realed in fear and disgust.

The myriad of dark strings represented the thought of whatever the maze was, and his mind was trying to unravel those thoughts.

He vomited.

The sound of it alerted the approching scavenger.

The clicking of its feet brought him back to reality, but the attack was already flying toward him.

The massic pincer was just meters away from him.

He quickly moved the handle of his memory in front of him,

The impact sent him flying against the coral walls.

The next second another pincer is about to strike him.

He used the handle to block again, but both his arms and the handle were giving up.

He rolled away before one of the legs could pierce him. Another leg tries to strike him again but misses.

All he could do was to dodge.

But soon enough he got hit another time.

A leg hit him with the blunt side adnd kicked him up in the air.

Although he was filled with pain and barely concious he managed to strick one time.

The halbert phased through the claw that was approching him and struck its mind.

The claw would have turned him into past had he not hit it.

Theweapon sliced through individual stings, slicing away its though of attacking him.

It just stood there while Sunny fell to the ground.

It did not move untile a few seconds later, when it tried to attack again.

Before he could he wwas struck again, this time his mind was hurting.

Another swipe hit his shell and broke through it, the weapon hanging deep in its flesh, severing its spinal cord.

When he did not heare the spell he dismissed the halbert and summoned it again, crushing its skull.
