Fifteen minutes later, George stepped in, curious. "You wanted to see me?"
Noah gestured for him to sit. "How is Jossy doing?"
George raised his brow. "She's… fine, I think. Busy. Why?"
"I want you to plan a meeting," Noah said. "If she's comfortable with a physical one, good. If she prefers online, that's fine too. But make it happen. You, me, and her supervisor. I want to hear what ideas she has for the company."
George studied him, clearly intrigued. Jossy was good, everyone in Lennox knew that. She had a sharp mind and an instinct for solutions that made her stand out even as a parttime employee. A promotion wouldn't be surprising, but the CEO himself calling for a meeting with her? That was something else.
"Jossy is talented," George said carefully. "But Noah, is this strictly business?"
Noah's jaw tightened. "It's about spotting potential and growing it. She is good for the company."
George leaned back, unconvinced but not bold enough to press further. A small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. "You know, if people see you pushing her forward, they might start to wonder."
"Let them wonder," Noah replied, voice low and final. His gaze hardened as he turned back to the muted screen, Jossy's statement frozen mid sentence. "It would be a greater shame if talent like hers went unseen because of Damien's shadow."
George nodded, though he wasn't fooled. To him, it was obvious. Noah's interest was more than business. Maybe an old friend, or was it a romantic interest? But Jossy was a married woman, and that fact was a scandal waiting to happen. He feared for his friend.
